Customs / Momoiro for SimplySteffie

I made this for Steffie for everything she has done for me. She made me a Last Unicorn Custom. She has sent me princess ponies and a TE Quackers.

So I made this for her. Momoiro.  She's a combination of all her favorites things.  the color pink, the g1 pony "Locket", Jem and the Hollograms, Unicorns, and Cherry Blossoms.

This pony was a labor of love. I went through 6 designs before settling on this one. I can't tell you how many times I had this pony almost done, decided it wasn't right, stripped it and did it all over again.  I went through 3 color schemes for hair before settling on this one.  Her hair colors ended up being inspired by Locket's.  I chose slightly different variations of the colors though. I went with Blizzard, Pussycat, Tangerine, and Amethyst from Dolly Hair.

But I'm happy with how she turned out.

she was a baity g3 diva pose. I can't remember which one. She has stains around her lips and in her ears. I wasn't ever able to get them to sun fade so I died this pony to try and make it less noticeable. She was always pink, but she wasn't always this dark of a pink.

Steff chose the name Momoiro. Which I've heard is a Japanese word for Pink, but may also be the Japanese for "peach colored".

I hope Steff likes this pony and everyone else likes her too.

Pony Corral / TLC attempting to prey on Pony Community
« on: June 21, 2012, 08:08:02 AM »
It has come to my attention that TLC has been going to all message boards and online pony communities trying to advertise that they are "casting a show for TLC about people with unique collections or obsessions". They want anyone who is interested to contact them and provides an e-mail to do so. I don't know if she has hit this board yet, but I strongly suggest that if she does that people not agree.

The show is most likely My Crazy Obsession and the links on the TLC page for this show include things like "Freaky Eaters" and "Strange Sex" etc.

This is not a show that is interested in respecting our community or it's members. It is about exploiting people and their hobbies and making them out to be freaks.

I'm not one of the mods, but this is something that I think concerns us all.  I would really rather not see someone from our community among the links on the show's site. It hurts everyone in our community if that happens.

I wasn't sure where else to post this, so that's why it is here in the Pony Coral.  Please move it if it needs to be moved.

Customs / G3.5 Butterscotch for sale!

So this is G3.5 Butterscotch. She is based off of the G1 Pony Butterscotch.
I took some artistic licence with her butterfly cutie mark. as you can see in the picture the original has yellow butterfly silluettes. This one has orange butterflies.
I originally did due the butterflies yellow. However it was killer on the eyes to see. There was just not enough contrast. So I painted over them in orange and gave them a darker orange outline.
I'm sorry in advance to all the purists, but I still really like how she turned out. She is for sale for $35. You can find her on my Etsy account.

G3.5 Blossom Also still for sale-

Customs / Cherry Snow *A Cherry Blossom Swap Pony for EmberBright
« on: March 28, 2012, 12:14:30 AM »
I heard that EmberBright got the pony so I can post pictures now.

Her name is Cherry Snow.  I got the idea for her from my childhood.  When I was a little pony, we had a cherry tree in the back yard.  I would love to sit under the tree and have picnicks and watch the blossoms fall.  And I always thought it looked like it was snowing.

I wanted to try to capture the innocence of that experience in this pony.

Cherry Snow started out in life as a NBBE Baby Cuddles that had some problems.  A brown spot on one of her back legs.  missing  a tail.  bad hair cut.  faded symbol.  her tail hole wasn't centered.  She needed help.

So she had her tail hole in large to center it better.  She has been given new symbols and re-haired with a blend of Fairy's Breath and Virgin Snow from dollyhair.com.  I left her eyes factory because I loved how they were such a great green color and I thought that it would look wonderful with the colors I was using. (which I think I was right on that).

The base is made from Super Sculpy and the blossom on her nose is made of Apoxie Sculpt.

All paints used are acrylic and sealed with mod podge for a satin finish.

Customs / Holly Berry: A Christmas Pony for Kalavista
« on: January 29, 2012, 10:45:30 PM »
This was one of the Christmas Presents I sent to Kalavista. Now that she has them, I can post pictures!

(The pictures in this montage were lovingly taken by Kalavista and sent to me. I was in such a hurry to get her sent out that I forgot to take pictures of her after I redid the eyes.)

She was originally a g4 pony. I can't remember the name.  But all I really did with this was repaint the eyes and the cutie marks and then style the hair.  While normally I would repaint and rehair, this pony just seemed Christmasy enough on it's own that I really didn't have to do much to it to get it to where I wanted it to be.

Customs / Bleeding Heart: a gift or Kalavista
« on: January 29, 2012, 10:40:04 PM »
A few months ago there was an MAOPK for Kalavista. She got two parts from me. the first part came right away and was a sympathy card.  The second part was this pony. It took me awhile to get it sent out though. I ended up sending it with the Christmas presents I sent her.  Anyway, she has it now so I can post pictures.

(Kalavista was nice enough to send me the pictures with the white background used for this montage.)

She was a BBE baby pony. The eyes were all rusty so I popped them out and filled them with Apoxie Sculpt.  I then repainted them to look like normal eyes.

She was repainted with Acrylics from Folk Art and A/A.

She was rehaired with a blend of Fairy's Breath and Virgin Snow from Dollyhair.com

Trader & Shipping Support / How/where do I give feedback?
« on: January 17, 2012, 09:47:49 PM »
I'm still getting used to the site.  Where is the trader feedback? I found the feedback for me but I am not sure how to leave feedback for others.

Customs / Satin and Glossy Sealent
« on: January 17, 2012, 09:33:08 PM »
for a long time now I've been using mod podge as a sealant and for the most part it has worked really well.  But I'm looking for something new. Something to go over the mod podge that will allow me to keep the satin or glossy finish without the tacky.  The back of mod podge suggests Clear Acrylic Sealer (which I'm assuming is a plaid product), but I was wondering if there was anything else that anyone recommended.

I have tried a product called "Gloss Interior Varnish" by Delta Ceramcoat.  I didn't have very good results with it though. it left a strange crackle effect on the area that I used it on.   And then there was a spray on varnish by folk art that really bombed.
So does anyone have any other suggestions that I could use to take away the tacky?
