OMG I can't believe it!  I'm sure no one remembers, but yeeeaaars ago I opened a topic about an old Dutch commercial from when I was little. It was a commercial for nose drops, and I clearly remember seeing a Pretty Parlor in it. I couldn't find anything about it, not even a trace to prove its existence, that's why I asked if anybody here remembered it. I. FOUND. IT. For me it's "Being Somebody Else" from Mish Mash Melee. It just pops into my head like "I never knew it mattered, but it's nice to be someone who's not so scattered!"  Until I think "how did that get in there!?" and it still won't go away.  So how about you? EDIT: This is about MLP-related songs, sorry for not being clear, my bad!

I wasn't sure if I should post this in the Corral, but Off Topic seemed more fitting! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginSo this is a teapot filled with pony(ish) accessories.  I saw a picture online of two jars filled with coloured pompoms, meant as a motivation for weightloss. One jar is filled with pompoms that represent the kilos/pounds you still have to lose, and the other jar is there to put the ones in that you've lost. I thought it was a brilliant idea! That way you can visualise your results. So what's more fun than a jar full of pony accessories? There are 35 of them in there, because that's the amount of kilos I wish to lose eventually. I still have to get another jar/teapot to put them in, but I can't wait to see it grow! I thought it would be nice to share, maybe some of you like to try something like this too.

Today it's been exactly one year since Dolores O'Riordan (The Cranberries) passed away. A year, can you believe it?  To celebrate her life, the band released the first single of their last album today. It's a fantastic song! It gives you chills though... Especially because of the title and because she mentions a hotel in London in the lyrics (she was found in her hotel room, in London). Different subject as far as I can tell, but still... Let's all listen to this wonderful song and remember her!  The Cranberries - All Over Now

Hi! I have a thing for gemstones, and I would like to learn more about them. I'm still very much a beginner, I'm pretty much at the point where I think that every purple stone is amethyst, and every clear stone is clear quartz. Of course I don't really think that, it's just that I wouldn't know what else it could be. Yesterday bought these pretty little stones, but I'm not sure at all what they are. Does anybody here have any idea? visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThe clear ones at the top look very much like clear quartz, except they have tiny little opal-like bits. The one on the left could be moonstone? The orange one is a complete mystery to me, when you hold it to the light it has grey/bluish sheen. The purple one could be amethyst, but I know there are other, lighter purple stones too. The pinkish one on the right is too purple-ish for rose quartz, I was thinking maybe fluorite? Especially because it's kind of "dull", and I know fluorite tends to be kind of dull (maybe I'm using the wrong word here, I definitely don't mean it in a bad way, just that it's not a very clear stone). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah! It's that time again! I don't have a massive haul like last year, but I'm super happy with my finds. I found 8 G1 ponies and a Dream Castle game, highlights are definitely Baby Blossom and Princess Dawn. Baby Blossom was pretty much a grail since she's a set completer, and I've always loved her (never had her before!). She's faded, but she has turned to this gorgeous shade of pale blue (that refuses to be captured on camera), and she's even slightly gradient! I'm in love. Princess Dawn is also a lucky find, because I didn't have her yet, and she is in excellent condition. Her tinsel is still straight! I also found these magical looking lanterns that look like (flutter) pony houses.  The fluffy elephant had to come home with me too! And the little toadstools are beyond adorable... They open up, and they have a tiny mouse house inside!  The tree is lovely as well, but after I bought it I found out it's from a theme park I don't like. September 6th 1971 ~ January 15th 2018visitors can't see pics , please register or login I have some very sad news. Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries passed away on January 15th. I meant to post this earlier, but I didn't know what to say. Dolores and The Cranberries have been a big part of my life since 1994.  On this site you can read all about it, the cause of death is still unclear. May she rest in peace. visitors can't see pics , please register or login

(There's a TL, DR below, if you don't feel like reading a whole page of rambling. ) So I am fairly new to the world of Harry Potter. I saw the first two films when they came out and the read the second book back in the day, but it wasn't before last summer that I really started to love it. A thread here on the Arena sparked it, in fact! Now I am completely sucked in, I love all the films, and I can't wait to read all the books (I currently own the first and the third book, but because they're so expensive I can't buy any more books for a while). So naturally I want to know which house I would be in! ...Yeah. Not as easy as I thought. I took three tests, the first said Slytherin, the second said Ravenclaw and the last one said Gryffindor. The worst thing is, I can't even pick a house myself because I honestly don't know what would be the best fit. The only thing I know for sure that it's DEFINITELY not Slytherin. Looking at my character, I would fit best in Hufflepuff. However, I am highly allergic to stupidity and ignorant people, and I usually have some witty answers ready (Ravenclaw). But studying isn't exactly my strongest point... I also hate cowardice, and chivalry is something I greatly (and I mean GREATLY) value in everyday life (Gryffindor). But I can't say I'm extremely brave either. I'm stuck.  I get that no one can tell me which house I should be in. But maybe someone knows how The Hat decides, so I can make a good choice? What matters more, what you truly value or what your actual capacities are? Are there any other people here who got stuck?  Did you find your house after all? TL, DR: I don't seem to fit in any of the houses. Who's with me?

Any people here who are into Irish music? visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI just love Irish music. Of course I am biased as heck, but you can't deny that Irish music is amazing. There's just something incredibly pure and real about it. So what do you like most? Pub songs? Traditional songs? Celtic rock? The more ethereal side? I personally enjoy it all. My favourite artists include The Cranberries, Sinéad O'Connor, Christy Moore and Luka Bloom. Some specific tracks from other artists I love are The Rocky Road To Dublin (Irish Folk Players), The Poem Of The Lonesome Boatman (The Fureys & Davey Arthur), Athair Ar Neamh (Enya), Marcshlua Uí Néill/O'Neill's March (Seán Ó Riada/The Chieftains) and A Chomaraigh Aoibhinn O (Karan Casey), but to be honest the list goes on and on! I hope this is allowed; I asked this question in a different thread, but it got locked. Anyway! I always thought "cutie marks" were the hearts on the hooves of G3 ponies? I see it being used everywhere as a synonym for symbol now, but for some reason I seem to recall the hoof hearts were actually called cutie marks. This must have been around 2008, 2009. Anybody who can confirm/debunk this?
