Customs / I sculpt teeny tiny ponies of all generations!
« on: November 12, 2013, 11:31:38 PM »
Over the summer, I started to explore sculpting as a medium properly. I went from a huge winged Luna custom, to ponies and other creatures smaller than your thumbnail!

I thought I'd show them off here, and put a link into a custom sales thread I'm about to make.

With out any further delay, here they are!

I'm always available for tiny custom ponies and ready to take on any design.
I'm still thinking of ways to display these so it's easier for the buyer, I'm thinking clear plastic ring display boxes!
Please go here for my custom sales, I also have a fully sculpted Princess Luna up for sale!
Or if you would like to go straight to the Etsy listing where these tiny ponies are, click here.

Thank you for looking!

I'm selling tiny sculpted ponies, but wasn;t sure if I should post them here or in Art/sale board? It sort of makes sense to post them in the custom sales board because they are still 3D ponies.. but I'm not sure!
They look like this..

Please and thank you!

Hey ya'll! I'm really interested in buying the Drama pony in her normal brushable size. Getting her loose is looking to be around £20-25, so for about £10 more than that, I can purchase the entire set from the US toys r us! I'm also tempted to get the Shadowbolt Rainbow Dash for my boyfriend for xmas..

I know coupons and money off stuffs are far more prevalent in the US then it is over here in the UK, so I wondered if there are any codes that give money off at the moment? I thought here would be the best place to ask!

Also, if any UK'ers are reading this and want in on an order, shoot me a PM! America have so many cool ponies that aren't coming to the UK, and Toy's R Us don't charge the moon to ship over here, and all duty/tax is paid before hand so there shouldn't be any hiccups.

Thank you in advance!

Customs / Sculpted Luna Custom, it took so long and I learnt so much!
« on: August 01, 2013, 05:04:34 PM »
Oh gees, so I went from this, posted a few months ago, asking for help on the whole wing-thing. (I've never been any good with wings, drawing or sculpting.) But thanks to some amazingly helpful people, I managed to finally pull myself up and finish this darn thing.

To be perfectly honest, I only decided it would be luna after finishing the wings and wondering what monstrosity of a pony could truly carry this wonder. So here she is, my first ever fully sculpted custom, and my goodness did I make a few mistakes on her. But, a learning curve is a learning curve, and I can't wait to get started on another custom!

Dramatic night time shot!

The base, as you can see from the first photo, is a lovely ol' spare Rarity I had lying around. (I actually have 2 more of her lying around as well, she pops up everywhere.) After poking some holes in her, I made an incredibly rough armature for what I was planning. Problems here being not enough armature on the wings, and having no clue what design I was doing. (I later ended up adding more wire to the tail, and adding armature to the head for the mane.)
After sculpting some crazy huge wings, I decided this pony would be Luna, and set about sculpting shoes, a horn and then tackling the hair and the tail, which was re-sculpted twice.
I also lengthened the horn, it seemed to get lost with all the other crazy sculpting going on!

I primed her with several coats of white paint, and set about painting her fully. This was repeated almost 4 times while trying to get the colour right..
Finally, with all the painting done, I added the finishing touches. The silvery glow around her mane was actually this fantastic nail polish?! I then added white glitter to her shoes to make them sparkle, and silver glitter to her mane and tail! (Only after trying the white glitter and it looking terrible.. argh.)

Also. Eyes are the hardest thing ever. I decided to play on hardest difficulty by obstructing myself through sculpting..

So there we have it! If you made it through all that text, I congratulate you! And one last question, do you think she's worth selling? Would anyone even want her? She has lots of little mistakes since I haven't done this before!

I managed to pause during Pinkie's 'Smile Smile Smile' song and thought it was so darn adorable! I had to draw it.. then I remembered I had a few tiny canvases hanging around, so I painted it up! Tiny brush strokes and all!

I also hand painted this One of a kind Pinkie Pie T-shirt! Fits most small to medium sizes, and it SUPER PINK!

I also want to share with you my very own T-shirt design, that I had professionally printed. The print on the tees looks fantastic and the colours stayed so bright, and they look fantastic! I'm updating the sale page with photos of my and my bf wearing them very soon, so that you know how darn good they look!(They only came the other day!)

I'd be super appreciative if you would check out my Etsy store, which has lots of unique jewellery items for sale. I'll be back to post more when I update my stock of MLP things!

Does what it says on the tin. I'm in desperate need of practice and have the rest of the afternoon off.
My work can be seen in my Etsy shop.
or my Tumblr (not updated in a long time!)
Post away!

Quick Edit to say I might open this back up during the weekend for a few more, so keep an eye out!
You can see all pony sketches I've done so far at this link. Please bear in mind it includes ponies from other forums, anyone is welcome to use the sketches as reference but don't go taking ponies that aren't yours! ;]

I have made plushies before, namely for an A level project because I wanted to try my hand at it. I can safely say I'm not the worst in the world, but I have a loooong way to go!

So, this is my first attempt at making a pony with the fabric I had lying around. I had previously made a massive pink fluffy tail for my Pinkie Pie cosplay last year, so I thought it appropriate to use up the last of the fabric for it, and by chance I had some pink felty fabric in my fabric bin, so of course the only option I had was to make Pinkie Pie.

Now, I know for certain I'm complete rubbish at making patterns, so I found a fantastic already made pattern on deviantart, right here!
Awesome pattern, but super complicated instructions x_x

So, after doubling the size of the pattern and stitching it all together, I set about making a pattern for the mane & tail.

The drawings were easy, the pattern making? Uuuuuuurgh.
I over complicate things, really. The mane gusset I made expand on the large curls/bumps and taper towards points. This took waaay too long, but looked good so I can't complain.
The tail I just took an inch strip with turnings and used that as the gusset, damn easier.

And, after about 2 and a half days of working, this is what she looked like!

Today I attached her tail (error, not enough stuffing in tail, need to un-pick some stitching and stuff more!
And I also stuffed her! She has about 10g of clock parts weighing her down in each foot, meaning she can stand in almost any position, hehe!

And here she is so far with her mane balanced on her head!
Hopefully I can finally get all the stitching done tonight, and then I'll have to start planning out eyes and cutie mark!

Yep! That's right! I've decided for certain that I will get my hands on this illusive girl one way or another.
I'm looking for either MIB or loose, not fussed either way.
Now I don't wish to weave a sob story, I'd just like to say that I'm only able to put this post up because I was paid well for some work recently. As a student this doesn't happen often and I really wanted to spend the money on something I'd treasure, but I don't think the money is enough, so I'm also offering one work of art along with payment.

So a kind of, I pay you for the pony, but you pay me (a smaller amount than I would actually ask for my art) so that the money strain is a little less on my end. Does that make sense?

This might be a full illustration done to the best of my abilities, subject matter pretty much anything. Or a sculpted dragon or animal maybe? Or, I'm even going to say a customised blind bag!

I'm currently a first year student on an illustration degree and have just finished my first paid professional illustration work. I also run an Etsy shop under the name Timatae Trinkets where I have sold my creations for several months.

Please note that the commission in question will be indicative of the price of said pony, while it won't take from the price of the pony, if asked for something that must be posted, I might ask for postage back from the final price. But if you're happy with having a high quality digital file of said commission, then consider it a bonus ;]

For a taste of my art work, please click this link.
And I hope to be hearing from someone soon!

Customs / Advice on the wing I just sculpted, please?
« on: March 16, 2013, 07:34:41 AM »
I'm really not the best at drawing wings, and sculpting them, it seems, i'm even more worse at.

But, I powered through, although I may have picked a strange pose for the wings, which may have made it harder for me!

Okay, without further interruptions, here are the photos

I spent two hours on it last night, but I am willing to scrap it and start again, as I've only done one wing.
Please can I have advice and critique? I would like to create to the best of my ability, as I hope to sell this custom when I'm done.
Thank you for your help!

Customs / Can I see your sculpted hair customs, please?
« on: February 24, 2013, 07:26:07 AM »
I'm looking for ideas for my next custom and I'm coming up with nothing! I know that I want to sculpt the mane and tail because I have zero re-hairing skills, or the patience to do so.
I've got a spare Rarity just begging to become something spectacular! So please, show me your sculpted hair and sculpted ponies!

I'll start with the 'test' custom I did for my boyfriend for Valentines day -

Customs / I made my boyfriend into a blindbag pony! (In progress shots!)
« on: February 03, 2013, 03:38:24 PM »
Thanks to the people who agreed that blindbags can indeed go in the oven, this turned out perfectly!

I also took photos along the way, mostly to see how I could improve next time.

The cutting job! Next time I really need to cut more off and sand down the edges, since they showed up quite badly on the final paint.

Hair!

About half way through I found a really fast and efficient method for doing the curls.

It also needs a coat of sealent now, I'll be using Mod Podge matt gloss. I've heard that this product is a good sealer, and I trust it won't leave it sticky at all?

I really wanted to get this done for his birthday back in January, but I just really didn't have the time with my mountain of Uni work, so I finally got some time to myself this weekend and spent all my spare time working on it! I'll be finding a fancy box to package it in soon and will present it whenever we have our 'valentines' dinner.

Anyway! If this seems like a profitable customisation business, I may have to open up a space on my etsy store for customs!
(That being said, I currently have 15% off at my Etsy shop! Use the code FEB152013 at the checkout  :] )#

Cheers for looking! If you can offer any advice or criticisms, I'd love to hear them! (Especially on getting paint layered correctly.)

Customs / Can I put a blindbag G4 in the oven?
« on: January 25, 2013, 04:07:36 PM »
I want to sculpt hair onto a blindbag pony, but I only have Fimo and I believe some supersculpy at my disposal?
Both of these need to be cooked before they harden, so I wanted to ask if the plastic the Blind bags are made out of will withstand the oven at about 120' celsius?

Also, can the eyes/symbol be painted over or should it be removed first?

Cheers all! x
