Customs / Sealants Other than Mod Podge and Glaze?
« on: December 05, 2016, 12:37:11 PM »
I'm just wondering what other options are, and pros and cons.  My spray on matte mode podge is still much shinier than a pony's body is supposed to be.   ;)

Pony Corral / Sunfading Using Paint
« on: December 05, 2016, 12:24:52 PM »
Hi all,

I want to add information about this to my website, but I want to make sure I'm understanding correctly.

- you paint over the eyes, symbols, blush with white acrylic paint
- I've been told that watered down paint is better?
- Once sunfading is done you rub it off with a wet cloth
- Use caution over glitter symbols

Am I missing anything?

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I recently had a great Craigslist find.  It was a previous collector who sold all this to me at an amazing deal.  I have an idea on pricing for some, but am still posting to see if others agree.  I'm trying to decide what to keep and what to sell, but some of it is definitely for sale.  Any help is appreciated!  If you're interested in it, feel free to pm me.

Mint condition Greek Windy (previous owner said she removed her from the backcard herself) - $200, definitely for sale
Lavender Clamshell (goes w/High Tide) - $110, haven't decided
MIB Flutter Rosedust, probably for sale
TAF Baby Sugarberry (slight head discoloration, barely noticeable, mane is a smidge faded and a little dry), definitely for sale
Mint condition Perfume Puff Red Roses
Perfume Puff Red Roses with slight head discoloration (one is definitely for sale, haven't decided which)
Canadian Red Roses box w/accessories MOC, probably for sale
Spanish Fluttershy - $35, definitely for sale

Thanks all!

Pony Corral / Twin Pines of Maine Products
« on: October 08, 2016, 09:21:53 AM »
Has anyone tried out any of the Twin Pines of Maine products other than Remove-Zit?

http://www.twinpines.com/

They seem to really know what they're talking about and I bet a lot of these products would be good for ponies.  I'd like to get their book eventually.  They give a clear warning about using Remove-Zit on dyed vinyl (which is what ponies are).  I don't think this necessarily means that none of their products would be safe for dyed vinyl.

"Most vinyl plastics are normally colored by adding metal oxide pigments to the plastic mass before it is molded. When vinyl compounds colored in this way are treated with REMOVE-ZIT to remove a stain the pigment is not affected by the treatment and the stain is removed.

Another way to color some vinyl compounds is simply to add a dye to the plastic mass before it is molded. When vinyl compounds colored in this way are treated with REMOVE-ZIT the stain is removed but in many cases so is the dye used to color the vinyl. Strictly speaking, a dye is a stain and REMOVE-ZIT is an efficient stain remover."

Pony Corral / My Masterpiece Is Complete!!!
« on: September 09, 2016, 07:33:46 PM »
I've had this pony room for ten years and now we're likely moving and I won't have one for a few years.  That put a fire under my butt to finally get it looking how I've always wanted.  Presenting, set up for maximum playability (as long as you're careful how you move), my perfect Ponyland!  I'd love to give tours if anyone is in the area!

Pony Corral / Things You Haven't Changed In 30 Years . . .
« on: September 05, 2016, 08:13:46 PM »
The only thing in my life that has never changed is how I set up my MLP playsets.  I've been putting the furniture in the Paradise Estate and the Lullaby Nursery the exact same way since I first got them as a kid.  Sometimes I add cute little accessories I find from other toy lines that look good with them, but the core pony furniture never budges.

I'm cleaning and setting up my pony room just so right now.  I'm almost finished but I ran into a conundrum today.  My nursery has ALWAYS sat to the right of the Paradise Estate.  No matter where they have traveled, when they were set out, that's where it went.  It's kind of annoying that spot in the room they're in now, as it sits right in front of the closet and I have to move everything to open the door.

So, after deliberating for what is probably kind of an obsessive amount of time, I moved the nursery to the RIGHT of the Paradise Estate and . . .

. . . it actually looks pretty good.  The move opens the room up nicely and leaves more floor space open for playing.

What have you refused to change with your ponies for as long as you've had them?

Trader & Shipping Support / Was I accidentally bitchy?
« on: September 04, 2016, 09:56:18 PM »
I bought an inexpensive Spike Fash'em from an Ebay seller a couple of weeks ago.  He was supposed to get here by 8/31.  When he wasn't here on 9/2 I messaged the seller to see what might be up.  I wasn't especially worried since he was only a couple of days late, but I think I accidentally opened a case with Ebay.  All I did was select something like "contact seller" and when asked why I selected "item not received" or something like that.  I've messaged sellers before but I've never gotten messages from Ebay talking about using their resolution center and closing the case.  I'm guessing this is automatic because I selected the "item not received" option?

Did I cause her problems unnecessarily?

Of course, it is now 9/5 and he still hasn't arrived, so maybe I actually did the right thing?

Pony Corral / Anyone Else Not Really Like The So Softs?
« on: September 03, 2016, 06:28:57 AM »
I know I'm a terrible person, but I just don't like them.  I hate how the flocking hides their colors and how they don't match their babies or the other ponies.  I would deflock all of them if I didn't know how hard it is to find them with nice flocking.

If anyone wanted to trade me a de-flocked Fifi for one with nice flocking, I would seriously consider it.  I HATE how she doesn't match her baby.

Pony Corral / Any Halloween Photo Contests In The Works?
« on: August 28, 2016, 08:36:15 AM »
Is anyone holding a Halloween photo contest?  I haven't seen any photo contests in awhile, but that may just be that I'm not on the pony boards much.  I might hold one if I'm not stepping on toes, but I want to be able to enter, lol.

Customs / The Only G1 Custom I May Ever Do
« on: August 26, 2016, 05:10:59 PM »
Hi all,

I don't usually post over here, but I thought I'd share.  I haven't found a Rapunzel at a flea market yet (hey, it'll happen) so I decided to go ahead and make one.  I've never been much into customs, some are very pretty, but I'm more into restorations.  I've gotten pretty good at restorations so it's hard for me to find ponies I wouldn't feel guilty about customizing.

This was a TAF Love Melody who would have needed a full body re-paint, then all her symbols re-painted, then her hair-re-pinked, so I figured, why not give it a go?  Looking at the photos, I think I need to re-curl her hair, but for a first try ever, I think she turned out pretty good.  I totally cheated on the symbols.  No matter what I tried I couldn't get the lines thin enough, so I re-colored a scan of Rapunzel's symbol in paint.net and just printed it off and glued it to her, then sealed it, so it looks painted.

I have the supplies to do a traditionally colored G3 and G4 of her, and I won't feel guilty murdering Pinkie Pies, so I think I'm going to try more versions of her.  It is a little addictive, I'll give it that.

Pony Corral / Anyone Here Understand Chemistry?

This is pony related, I swear.  I need to ask a favor from someone who has a decent understanding of chemical terminology.  Any takers?

Pony Corral / Am I the only one who likes the G3.5 newborns?
« on: July 13, 2016, 07:12:39 PM »
I am in serious denial about the existence of G3.5.  I don't own any, and I run away screaming when I find them at the flea market.

However, I LOVE the G3.5 newborns.  They're adorable and got some of the last really good playsets and accessories.  I think their accessories are sooo cute.

Am I the only one?
