vintage compact toy 1 by Elizabeth, on Flickr

I found this a Goodwill awhile back. It's a compact toy a bit like Polly Pocket. Based on the colors and art, I think it's from the '60s or very early '70s.

The odd thing is that there are absolutely no markings on it anywhere. I usually pretty good at IDing toys, but with no markings I don't know where to begin.

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Problems with my 3DS
« on: March 17, 2017, 07:20:34 PM »
So yesterday I was playing Disney Magical World 2 on my 3DS. I was playing a game of tag with Donald and Mickey when suddenly I was running in slow motion. After I got myself "unstuck" I couldn't move the circle pad in certain directions. Mainly down or to the lower left. It almost feels like something inside my system shifted or broke.

I've never had a Gameboy or DS break on me before so I'm not sure what to do. Can it be fixed or do I have to buy a new one?

The Dollhouse / American Girl doll and stuff for sale
« on: July 04, 2016, 03:07:48 PM »
Here's my Photobucket album.

http://s428.photobucket.com/user/sailorgurgi/library/american%20girl/AG%20for%20sale

TLC Josefina doll - $40
I got this girl off Ebay a few years ago hoping to gift her to a child, but her wig was in worse shape than I expected. There's a patch right in front that was cut down to the scalp. It's next to impossible to see in pictures, but I tried. The rest of her hair was cut shorter. She also has a few minor marks on her right foot, left hip and right hand.

Please see the album for everything else.

Ok, so I just listed this guy on ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/112011199344?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

After less than half an hour I have a guy offering me $50 for him!  Very tempting, but I turned him down because I didn't know how much he was low balling me. He turned around an upped the offer to $75!  At that point I asked if knew something about the puppet that I didn't. Haven't heard anything else yet.

sailorstitch

ETA: He replied with this.

Hello,
I have bought and won almost every puppet factory auction in the last five years. I have even contacted the owner of the puppet factory Martha Bishop who bought it from the original owner in the early eighties. Whenever some inquires about an older puppet from her she has them contact me. The 70s puppet factory puppets sell between 20-75 with tags depending on character. The hippie puppets seem to be the most popular. Some people ask prices over 100 but they never sell. Look at completed listing. In all my years, I have never seen this blue one. I have a purple and a few brown monsters but never Blue. He is unique.I hope you consider my offer because I would love to add him to my collection.

I don't know what to do! Would you take the money and run or see where the auction goes?

Post Merge: May 29, 2016, 06:27:36 PM

Ok, I did it. I sold him to the guy for $75. Who knew a childhood toy that I didn't even LIKE that much could be worth so much.

Off Topic / Who has never seen a $2 bill before?
« on: May 06, 2016, 07:36:27 PM »
I know they rarely pop up any more, but SERIOUSLY!?!

http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/...hoolers-2-bill-investigates-if-its-fake.html/

My grandma gave me a few $2 bills when I was going up, usually at Easter. Whenever she did my parents took them and gave me two $1 bills in it's place. My mom still have those $2 bills tucked away somewhere.

from scammers stealing your info. Do they really work? Can anybody recommend a brand?

My mom's Discover card has been used for fraudulent charges TWICE in the passed three months. She got a new card a few months ago after the first charges. Now she's waiting for a second new card because of more charges. UGH!!!!  :argh:

She wants to get one of those wallets like you see on TV. Any opinions or info on these wallets would be great.

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Goodwill find - Romper Room plush
« on: April 03, 2016, 07:49:55 PM »
So I found this little guy at Goodwill yesterday.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BDwvMalkAMn/?taken-by=sailorstitch

His tag says Romper Room Enterprises, 1983. After a little googling I see that Romper Room was a tv show. It never aired in my area.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romper_Room

I did find an ended one on Ebay, but he's bundled with another character. I don't know which one caused the high ending price.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-1983-Dakin-LOT-2-9-tall-Romper-Room-UP-UP-Kimble-Plush-Dolls-Toys-80s-NWT-/351328321464?hash=item51ccccbfb8%3Ag%3A0gYAAOSwpDdU8NDZ&nma=true&si=gJDAAaOqUigHq9%252BIXWRSI2%252FMn40%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

There is an active listing for one by himself and their asking price is $112.50!!!! Somehow I don't think that's what he really sells for....

Anybody know anything about this little guy?

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Bingo Bear has a stuck zipper
« on: December 05, 2015, 02:48:49 PM »
Another Goodwill find today was a Bingo Bear plush.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

According to Ebay, working ones can sell for $30-$50! Sadly, I'm 99% sure this one no longer works. His zipper to his battery compartment is STUCK!

It looks like his batteries leaked and glued it shut.  :yucky: Is there any hope of getting his zipper unstuck? I was thinking about keeping the bear and selling just his scarf. But I'd like to still clean him out if it's possible.

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / My Child experts - I need HELP!
« on: December 05, 2015, 02:32:06 PM »
So I went to Goodwill today for their 50% off day. I found a teddy bear in a baby sleeper that caught my attention. I decided to look it up on Ebay from my phone. All I got from his tush tag was that he was made by Mattel in 1986. I searched "Mattel 1986 bear" and found one that listed it as a My Child bear. I had NO IDEA that My Child made animals! I never liked the dolls as a kid. But I've learned on here that My Child dolls are worth big bucks. I did another search for "My Child Bear" and nearly passed out when I saw the sold prices!   :drunk:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Mattel-My-Child-My-Pet-Bear-Plush-Toy-Brown-Excellent-condition-/221885358622?hash=item33a965e21e%3Ag%3AO-UAAOSwHjNV9mCm&nma=true&si=WlQM%252BJ5oJ2Rl%252FFz0Y5pKDx906Kc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1986-Mattel-Plush-Stuffed-MY-CHILD-PET-DOLL-Brown-Teddy-Bear-14-HTF-/321937694754?hash=item4af4fb6022%3Ag%3ARYgAAOSwnH1WX2zH&nma=true&si=WlQM%252BJ5oJ2Rl%252FFz0Y5pKDx906Kc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

But these are naked. The one I got (for 99 cents!) has a sleeper and a diaper. So what's a reasonable asking price for one with clothes?

Here's the one I got.

Anybody have any smelling salts?

Umm.... what?

www.businessinsider.com/parents-complain-pixar-movie-scare-kids-2015-11

My mom and I saw it on Sunday. I agree it's not for little little kids. But for the most part it wasn't any scarier than The Lion King or Tarzan. It's not like it's at The Black Cauldron scary level. The kids that were in the theater with me were fine. They were even kind of "meh" on the movie.

Are these helicopter parents or do they think that everything Disney is supposed to be like Disney Jr?

Perfect response!

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Pikachu is coming to BABW! He's BACK!

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/10/20/build-a-bear-workshop-to-begin-selling-exclusive-pikachu-in-2016

I'm SUPER excited!!!!!! But I hope the article is a little off on one thing. Why the heck would the Charizard costume be an online exclusive? And if I'm understanding this right, you have to buy Pikachu online to get the costume.  I want to buy and build Pikachu in the store.

Pony Corral / The Art of Equestria
« on: October 09, 2015, 01:38:11 PM »
A few years ago Abrams Books released a book about the history of Transformers. I've been waiting for them to do a MLP book ever since. Now it's coming!  :frolic:

https://www.yahoo.com/tv/ss/little-pony-concept-art-183621585/photo-pony-evolution-1444416092117.html

I wish the title was more G1 related. And the time line (slide 4 in first link) has a glaring omission....  :what: Anybody seen anything else about this book?
