Today has been a wonderful day in Ponyland! Two of my long time grails arrived on the same morning, and I am over the moon! Cascade is such a beautiful pony, I've wanted her for so long but have always just missed out. And Baby Gametime, well. I honestly never thought I would own her, she was so hard to find and always out of my price range. But my tax return was surprisingly generous this year, so I spoiled myself and went of a pony splurge. So. Hey all! I know that some collectors re-pink their ponies who have the fading pink mane and tails, and I was wondering how everyone feels about it. Does it detract from the value of the pony? What's your personal experience and opinion on re-pinking? I ask because I've just won a MO Mommy pony (OMG!  ), and she's in excellent condition except for the faded mane and tail. I'm hesitant to re-pink in case it detracts value, especially from such a rare pony. Thoughts?

Hypothetical scenario! Let's start off by establishing that all humans and animals are safe, so you don't need to worry about rescuing any living beings, who would of course be a priority in any emergency.
If your house was burning down and you could only save one item from your collection, what would it be? Why did you choose that item specifically?

I'm so pleased! Have been trying to complete this set for ages, but it was so hard to find Snowdrop in good condition. They're so pretty together.  I wish the set had more ponies in it, maybe they felt that they'd already done two other sets of birthflower ponies so decided to keep this release small. It also surprises me that there isn't a unicorn in this set! We've all got that long want list filed away in out heads, don't we? The ponies we search for more eagerly than others, and become overwhelmed with excitement when at long last one actually appears! Who is at the top of your want list? They don't have to be all Nirvanas or Grails, sometimes it's just nice to nab the last pony needed to complete a set. My wants are all G1s. Earlier this week I shared a brag about finally getting Nightlight, with a group shot of all of my Rainbow German ponies (the Nirvana gods have been so good to me this year!! ), including Starshine (yellow symbol). Yesterday my metallic gold star Starshine variant arrived, and I just had to share! Included yellow symbol Starshine for comparison. Happy happy happy! I am so excited to have finally managed to get Nachtlicht after so long! She was NOT cheap to begin with, especially after the currency conversion hit. And to add insult to injury, it cost me more than $60 AUD for shipping from Austria to Australia!! I had a really horrible week at work and it's really triggered an awful tsunami of depression and anxiety which has left me feeling hopelessly low.  Thankfully a bit of happy pony mail arrived today to make me feel a little bit better. I didn't get the chance to photograph her in natural light, so her hair looks more washed out than it is in person. Her mane and tail are actually beautifully pink. A few minor marks here and there, but otherwise she's close to perfect. She's the last Satin 'n Lace I needed, and it took ages to find the magenta version so I'm extra pleased by her arrival. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or login

Can anyone help me with some info? I'm curious about the three versions of Satin 'n Lace that exist. The only MO brochures I've found have been for Lavender Satin 'n Lace with Tux 'n Tails, so where did the SS and Magenta versions come in? Are they simply different versions offered during later years in the MO brochures, or was one of them some kind of international variation? I happened across a really cheap random fakie lot sale on eBay, and amidst all the MLP wannabes I found a Glow 'n Show Dazzleglow - and she was the blue heart variant as well! Have been wanting the blue hearted variant for ages, but she's been selling for $40-60 USD recently, which was a bit rich for me. Double bonus was the fact that it was an Australian seller, so no high currency conversion rate, and cheap postage for once! Bought the the whole lot for a song! She polished up so well too! Her mane and tail are still a bit on the frizzy side, and the pink has faded to white, but she hasn't had any haircuts. I'm in love! visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I just won two of my grails at auction (YAY!) and both on the same day, but they were NOT CHEAP. I just spent an entire week's worth of pay on two ponies, and even I am wondering if I'm completely out of my mind. I have about $23 to live on until next Thursday when my pay comes through (BOO!).  My brain is desperately trying to justify this outrageous expense when I'm already up to my eyeballs in debt, and although I really REALLY wanted them so I could complete the set, I know I should never have bought them as they were WAY out of my budget. Please help make me feel better by telling me about some of your most expensive pony purchases in your collections! Which ponies came along which you simply couldn't walk past, even when you knew you couldn't really afford them? And how long did you have to live on ramen noodles before you recovered financially? For those of you who don't have a dedicated pony room, how do you store your ponies? I've used different types of crates over the years, but have finally found a perfectly sized Ikea storage crate which is perfect. It allows the ponies to be stored in a single layer whilst standing, which is ideal because that way their hair doesn't end up squished. But how you do store your collection? I'm so excited! I've been trying to complete this set forever, but Nurse Tenderheart has been impossible to find. Normally I source my ponies from eBay, but I've never seen her come up for sale. Luckily one came up on Facebook of all places, and I pounced! I'm so thrilled to have the full set - the timing is perfect as it's International Nurses Week, too! I'm an RN, so nursing themed anything is close to my heart. I think they're such a sweet trio. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI have however given up all hope of owning original caps, they just go for the most insane amount of money for an accessory. Thankfully the wonderful Shelves of Whimsy has neat repro hats which are 3D printed, and they're perfect!

I came across a YouTube video with some of the old MLP commercials from the 90s, and I found myself smiling with the nostalgia without even realising it. It made me wonder why DO we continue to place such value on these toys and why are we still collecting them decades later? What drives us to collect them and prize them the way we do?
For me, I think that somehow these pretty little ponies are a link to my childhood, and having them helps to keep my inner child happy and healthy. I live with MDD and a few other not so fun issues, so finding something that lifts my spirits is really important. Everyone has different collecting goals, of course. But why do YOU collect My Little Pony? What does it mean to you?
