Hi everyone. I always run into this dilemma when I have a custom idea. I usually find a "baity" pony (from any generation) and then get a custom idea by looking at it, but then, I stop and wonder if the pony is that much in a need of a customization or if it would be better off staying as it is or being restored. You see, I love collecting ponies and I'm more in a mindset of preservation and restoration rather than customization. I'm not picky either, so I end up buying somewhat okay ponies that would be a shame so custom. The worst is when I have more than the same pony. What should I do with the doubles ? They are not worth selling, but not really worth customizing either. And I don't have the budget to buy them the necessary material to restore them, but that doesn't mean I will never have it so they could be restored in a distant future. So, yeah, I end up having conflicting ideas, so I turn to other collectors, getting their opinion on a pony by showing the pros and cons of customizing it but I still can't convince myself to have a go and remove that pony from existence. It feels like decarding a MOC to me. I'm not even that good at customizing either so they feel like they are worth less after a full body repaint and rehair. They look wonky to me. I can't convince myself to touch a fakie for the same exact reasons. And I know, practice makes perfect, but that would mean sacrificing plenty of ponies before getting them perfect !? Not good either. 3: I really don't feel good customizing a pony for my own collection. I'm not satisfied with my customs. It's just a bit better if they are made for a friend. I feel selfish scraping an original pony for my own pleasure. And yet, I love the idea of custom ponies, I'd love to make great pieces of art with them but I remain scared of ruining it more than anything. I must look so dumb, versatile and indecisive, but that's exactly the thing, I. don't. know. and I hate myself for not having a fixed opinion and feeling on the matter. I don't even know if anything I say makes sense.  So, yeah, my apologies, I needed to vent. But I wouldn't have posted that topic if it was only for myself. I want to have your opinion on the subject, what you think and feel about it and what you would do in that case ? I'd like to know how you perceive your collection, if you're more of a curator, a restorer or a customizer or a mix of that. The main issue with me is that I'm kind of all of them at the same time depending on my current mood/mindset so I want to know how you deal with that if you're kind of similar. Hi everyone ! Well, 4 years ago, that G3 bait wasn't my only attempt at customization, I actually had another pony and she was technically complete, but terrible. Now that I have acrylics and better technique, I took pictures of my good old custom and said farewell so it can become a better version of itself. And since this first of April, I've finally made her wings so she's now a complete and cute custom. ^^ I'm really proud of her. She turned out great. Before she was done + her story Well, here's my first custom I'm about to finish. In the beginning of her story, about 4 years ago, I wanted to make a Muffin custom out of a G3 StarSwirl I bait-ified because she was a double. Fine, but a double. I changed my pony ethics by now but she had already become a bait, it was too late for her because of me but at least I can make a pretty custom out of it. Problem was, I didn't have acrylics, I only had gouache and boy does this thing NOT work at all.  It was always chipping like crazy. Plus, I had no idea how to do her wings so I abandoned her for...Well, 4 years. Muffin Custom Paint was crusty, uneven, her eyes are....too crossed-eyed and details are way too thick. This custom is terrible, but technically, this is the first one, I just didn't finish it because I didn't like it. ^^' visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginFast Forward to late february of this year, I want to make a Hufflepuff themed pony for a friend out of my bait....But I still had gouache only, heh. I really though the new spray varnish I had bought would still work out but noope. It was chipping AND sticky. I wouldn't dry at all. For literal months, she remained sticky and crackly. I lost my motivation. Hufflepuff pony is nope. Then, I finally get my hands on acrylic paint, but I had no more motivation for that theme, so I changed my mind again and for the final time : Making my best friend's OC for his birthday : Alonia. She is from his French audio fiction named Erebys. He is working extremely hard on it when he has the time. That fiction he makes is the work of his life and I'm a huge fan of it, I help him out whenever I can. Anyway, that pony is not the simplest, she has gradients on her body and hair. She also has spots on her legs and ears but I couldn't make them pretty when I painted them so I dropped the idea but kept them on her ears. Actually, dry painting was easy and fun so everything was fine ! Yesterday, I made her leg gradient and eyes. And today, I'm doing her rehair with yarn because I have an infinite amount of wool in my parent's home and no money to order nylon and dye. Plus, yarn is sooo pretty ! It's a great alternative. Plus, coloring it with markers is the easiest thing in the world. I wasn't expecting to be that easy, too, using my fellow DIY plug widener and rerooting tool. So, here we are, finally ! The only thing lacking is her symbol... I have no idea what it is because there's no trace of it on my reference pictures...And I can't ask my friend..Well..I will probably have to discretely do it so I can finish her. ;-D Sorry for the poor picture quality. I reserve that when she's done. Right now, I'm just taking pictures on the spot while I'm working on her. Notice the lil' dots on her ears. ^^ They are not that great so I won't take the risk to do the same to her legs. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAgain, her eye gradient is not that bright. Oh, yes, her stand is a nail polish bottle, it's easier to handle her. Her body's stand was a closed highlighter marker. x) Well, now I just have to finish that rehair and get to know what symbol she has and she will be done ! I don't want to risk sealing her with the same spray vanish, it's the only one I have and it was 10€. I've worked so hard on her, I don't want her to become a sticky hell. Boy I'm so happy I will finally make something I'm proud of out of this 4 year old bait. It really came a long way. Well, there, she's done ! I sneakily asked my friend if she had a symbol/cutie mark and actually, she doesn't, even as an adult ! That's not a big deal at all. Even better, that's easier. The great thing with the whole universe he has imagined is that it is drastically different from the FiM universe. There's only some Season 1 lore and characters (Like Princess Luna whom has a big role, or Twilight Sparkle whom I'm voicing (*tehe*^^) so, yeah, he has developed that world to an extreme level and I love that ! ^^ Here's the pictures, I'm so happy to be able to show you these. A G2 Happy Meal figure of Ivy. Also, my first case of rotting pink, I suppose. When I picked her up, she was really fine, with a whole and perfect tail. It was like that for more than two decades and I show up, twist her tail just a little and 98% snapped off. I was horrified. Thankfully, I got a small rubber band to keep it all together but now I can count how many hair remain attached because there's so little of them. I feel bad every time I see her.
2. Dutch G1 VHS I intend to sell to anyone speaking Dutch for their own collection but I don't know the price I should sell it for. I will also make a digital copy beforehand when I'll get the time.
3. G1 Play Time Baby Brother Pony "Baby Paws" : Oh boyyy he's so cute ! My frst one of its kind in my collection. He might have tail rust, though. x-x I don't trust myself with cleaning tail rust recently. =/
4. G1 Italian Moondancer II : The one with her moon symbol facing the wrong direction. I'm really happy I have her, I've always wanted Moondancer !

11. Italian Lemondrop var IV (Grey body) : Oh boy, at first, I had no idea who she was and was really confused. Was she Snuzzle ? Was she Lemondrop ? So I called her Snuzzledrop but turns out this name is already taken for a Macau nirvana, haha. I'm extremely happy because she is my first Airbrushed eyes ! It's really a shame her mane faded and she's got a tail cut but heh, I guess it's not too bad.

During that day, I also stumbled upon ponies I sadly couldn't afford, like a White Tootsie, Italian Cherry Jubilee, etc.. And loose fakies I just don't collect, like a Princess Rinse and Spit. She was funny to see in real life though. x) Also, G3 playsets way too overpriced so it was a direct nope. Well, I hope you had fun watching my newest brag topic. Hey everyone ! I'm currently having fun dismantling and cleaning my newly purchased second-hand G3 Twinkle Twirl's Dance Studio (I'll be documenting it like I did for the Twist and Style Petal Parlor !). It has some issue though, its front side yellowed a bit so everything is dull and orange-ish. I'm wondering if anyone ever tried to soak it in a peroxide or a baking soda bath under the sun for a couple of hours until it has gotten better colors ? If not, well, I'll be the first doing it and I'll tell your the result for future help. I don't have much to loose with it, I know it's not the only one I'll ever come across. Hey everyone !
Well, just a really quick question. I recently found G2s in the wild (Oh boi, finally ! And also got two playsets and their boxes !! (bad condition, but stillll)) but the two girls from the playsets are badly yellowed, so I figured I might try to sunfade them so they'll get their white coat back.
I've never sunfaded a pony yet, but I know the instructions : cover up mane, symbols and wait a long time.
Ponies are : Light Heart from Wedding playset and Dainty Dove from Wedding chapel playset.
Are they okay to sunfade ? Thank a lot for your replies !

Well, hello everyone... Today was amazing. I couldn't believe my eyes ! At first, I saw the Baby Bonnet School of Dance, which was half premonitory I suppose (I saw its wiki page yesterday for some reason), then I found ponies here and there. That flea market was huge ! Like, 570+ people selling their stuff ! When I saw everything once, I found my first B'n'G during my double check. Yay ! Then, I had to go home in a hurry and at the last instant, I found a box....With 20+ G1s inside ! I was speechless and so happy. There were Pink Fading Pinks, a white Gingerbread with one eye baaaaaaaaaaaarely scuffed, so on and so on ! prices Playset for 8€ (empty, + Baby Half-Note, Italian Peachy with a "MLP" ponywear and Italian Seashell. )

Hey everyone ! I'm full of so many questions right now. I was checking on my ponies for my entertainment and their well-being when I realized something quite odd with my "armies". Ony of my Meadowbrook and one of my Star Swirl are noticeably different and I can't explain why that is. Even more odd, they are different in the same way : They have no hoof heart, a white "magnet" logo but no magnet inside and the inscription C-015D printed on their front-left hoof. W-what are those ? ^^' I'm really confused. Does anyone have any information about this "variant". I get they have the same pose, but still...Where do they come from ? Why are they like that ? What does the inscription mean ? They were found in Europe (Belgium), if that might help. I don't know at that point. Don't mind the "coat color variation" on them, some are just dirtier than others. ^^' Hope we can figure this out. =D Take care !! Rose.

Heya everyone, I hope you're doing good ! Well, I recently got a second Italian Sunbeam and I am currently restoring her. The thing is, I need to get good closeup pictures of a mint Italian Sunbeam's symbol as I want to paint her as faithfully as she is supposed to be. I would be really happy to get your help. As you can see, hers is pretty much faded all the way. My acrylics and paintbrushes are ready, I just need to see what hue I'm supposed to paint on her. Hi everyone ! My apologies if this topic doesn't have its place here, feel free to move it. I just want to share with you my newest and biggest restoration so far, as well as my very first rehair so it might help you feel confident for you own restorations, because anything is possible if we are motivated. I can't recall when I got this BB Tex, but I know I cleaned him back in November 2017 and ordered his hair the same month. I left him aside until now, when I finally felt like rehairing and finishing him. It was tricky and time consuming, but worth it ! 7 months to restore a pony. Haha. I'm not the quickest at all. I didn't order a rehair tool, I used a very small sewing needle and asked my dad to cut it like the rerooting tool and then fixed it on a handle. Actually, my dad didn't cut it at an angle like the tool, but it was still really effective ! That was a lot cheaper to create and less painful to break. (As I broke one using it, my mistake. Got another one the very next day and finished my work !) So yeah, rehairing with a DIY rerooting tool. yay.
