Arts & Crafts Corral / Drawing Some Ponies
« on: December 19, 2014, 10:48:49 PM »
Currently I'm on a long winter break and thought it would be the perfect time to get some drawing done. Unfortunately I've had a bit of artist's block. Perhaps you guys could help inspire me a little? x3 I'm willing to draw some ponies for you! OCs or canon ponies, doesn't matter! All drawings will be freebies!

I should let you know that I'm not the best artist and I'm not a digital artist, either. Unfortunately everything will be traditional and scanned. I'm better at G4-styled ponies but I could try my hand at other generations. All you've gotta do is give me a reference image or two, a generation style you'd prefer, and a little info about the pony if it's an OC/persona. I'm only doing a couple at a time so I don't get too overwhelmed. ^^;

Samples are a little older and uncolored, but, here's a few sketches to give you an idea of what the g4-is style looks like:

Pony Corral / Smoke ponies
« on: October 21, 2014, 11:29:49 PM »
So one of my first restoration projects I'd like to do is to fix up a G3 Denim Blue. At first I was going to bait her out for a custom but she seemed too nice. Hair was still fine as was her symbol. Aside from a "makeover" some kid gave her (which still hasn't all come off yet ><) the biggest issue is yellowed plastic. Unfortunately she's yellowed (or rather tanned) due to being in a smoky environment. Got her from a second-hand store so the only reason I know this is because the doll smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. I read that Hydrogen Peroxide in the sunlight should lighten the plastic so I opted for that first. I threw some peroxide-soaked paper towels on her (to avoid getting peroxide on her hair), wrapped her in plastic and I've had her in sunny places for well over a week now.  I inspected her a bit ago and she doesn't seem to have gotten noticeably better, if at all. I'm sure a week is far too short, though. Should I keep doing the paper-towel thing or just go straight for the Hydrogen Peroxide soak? Or is trying to lighten her with peroxide a futile effort since the yellowing is caused by smoke?

Introductions / Hiya
« on: October 12, 2014, 07:12:42 PM »
>> So how is everyone today? Just posting the standard introduction, really. So I found this site a while ago and really had no idea how awesome it was right up until this week. I've been lurking around a few helpful topics but figured I may as well sign up with the site. x3 Though we're here for pretty much the same major reason I suppose I could elaborate a bit. I've loved My Little Pony since I was a kid but I was never a serious collector up until a few years ago. I'd find a few at a yard sale or whatnot but that was pretty much it. I'm sure you've seen this trend quite a bit, but, I will admit that it was G4 that really rekindled my love for the franchise. Collection-wise I don't have too terribly many and I'm open to collecting any generation though G1 and G3 are my favorites. A good chunk of my collection is made up of G3 and G4, though. I wish I had more G1s as they are my favorite design-wise. Uhm... what else... one day I hope to be a customizer, but, I've recently been interested in the restoration aspect instead of just tearing up perfectly good ponies for some failed project. >>; I'll stick to practicing on KOs and Fakies. ^^;

Currently I'm in my early 20's and I don't have much of a life to be honest. However I'm trying to change that by investing myself more in creative hobbies. I just don't know how to do much of anything just yet. >>; Lots and lots more practice and familiarizing myself with mediums before I'm ready to show off anything. At best, I can draw little cartoons but that's about it at the moment. And that's pretty much it, I think.
