Pony Corral / Sun fading Cherry Treats & Gingerbread w/ Photos!
« on: June 03, 2014, 09:17:44 PM »
Did I really write that? Am I really going to do that with these two ponies that are notorious for burning?!

Yes, yes I am.

Anyway, I've had them in the window (in Seattle, WA where the sun isn't harsh) for about three days with only one side facing the sun.  I can already see changes and they are getting lighter. I'm afraid to do much more though since I don't want to tempt the Pony Fates too much.

Cherry Treats, the side not exposed to the sun:

Totally a blarg-tastic color. The photo doesn't quite do the tan/yellowing justice.

Here is the side that's been sun exposed for 3 days:

Much better, yes?

Here is Gingerbread's unexposed side:

And sun faded side:

Gotta love the foil hair style and the paint on the eyes and symbols. Those will come off with rubbing alcohol btw with no damage to the pony.

As of 6/14/2014 I have removed Cherry Treats from the window because most of the yellowing is gone. You can't see it in these next photos and it might be my imagination but I think a very very slight redness was starting to develop on her shoulder. I am happy with her currant color of cream, so much better than the yellowish tan. The white acrylic paint came off without too much trouble, I used rubbing alcohol and q-tips.

So I guess she was in the window around 10 days. I did one side than the next and then positioned her so that he backside was facing the window because the yellowing was stubborn in that area.

Update 8/6/2014:

I think I've been favoring Gingerbread's right side. I checked some of my photos of how I have her positioned with other ponies I have sunfading and I'm pretty sure I just never flip her.  I stopped paying attention to which side I had facing the sun. She's been in the sun this whole time except for a few weeks to a month when I was moving across town. I had her laying down on a semi-colored pamphlet so that's where that orange color on the parts of her that touched the paper came from, I've switched to something white since I noticed that. The orange color mostly wiped off.

I'm not actually sure that I can tell a difference from the first set of photos to these or not. And of course these photos are with my cell phone and not my real camera. :p

Price Check Archives / Price Check on Dazzleglow
« on: June 03, 2014, 04:45:42 PM »
So I've been watching the prices of G1 Dazzleglow on ebay and they are all over the place. Last month a Dazzleglow with blue hearts went for about $20 before shipping and today a Dazzleglow also with blue hearts but with scuffs went for $51 before shipping.

The one that went for $20 still had a tiny bit of pink in her hair and the other didn't have any at all.

I've seen some here on the Arena listed for around $20-$25. How much is she actually worth? Does the price change depending on if she has pink hearts or blue hearts? And how much does her actually having pink hair add to that?

Thanks so much!

So I'm looking to create a list of themed ponies that have insect cutie marks. So bees, lady bugs, dragonflies and the rest.

So far what I have found for G1 is:

Honeycomb (bees)
Baby Honeycomb (bees)
Plush Honeycomb (If you want to count her)
Flutterbye, and all of her variants (butterflies)
Buzzer (bee)
Glow (firefly)
High Flyer (Dragonfly)
Lady Flutter (Ladybug)
Ladybird (Ladybugs)
Butterscotch & variants (Butterflies)
Baby Butterscotch (Butterflies)
Dancing Butterflies & variants(Butterflies)
Baby Dancing Butterflies & Japanese Keychain (Butterflies)
Princess Primrose & variants (Butterfly Shaped Jewel)
Baby Glider (Butterflies)
Baby Stripes & Nectar the Panda (Bees)
Sweet Pocket/Singing Pocket (A small plastic yellow bee is attached to the inside of the flower by a string)
Lil' Pocket (Butterflies)
Mummy Meadowsweet/Butterfly Pony  (Butterflies)

Ponies that I will add here because they are sorta in the bug world:

Baby Wiggles (two white worms with antennae)
Baby Squirmy (snail)

Petite Ponies:

From Pretty Pony Parade:
Butterfly Petite (Butterfly)

From Glowing Magic Ponies:
Glow Worm Petite (Glow Worm)

Have I missed any?  Also, photos would be totally cool!

I recently acquired a G1 pony, Blossom, and it's like she's gone through chemo. Her hair is trying to fall out when I touch it. I don't even have to comb it or even really pull and some hairs will come with my fingers. It's not so bad that she's bald but I'd like to stop the shedding if I can. I've never seen a pony loose hair like this, it's totally weird.

Anyone have an ideas? How do I fix this? Has this happened to anyone else's ponies?

Post Merge: May 09, 2014, 10:06:33 AM

I've looked at the hair a little more and it's not *pulling out of the plugs* it's *breaking*.

Like it's brittle and it's just breaking off in the middle of hair strands.

Price Check Archives / PC on 5 G1 Ponies *Updated with Photos*
« on: May 08, 2014, 03:48:54 PM »
I have 5 ponies that need new homes and I would like to price them accurately.

Twinkle Eyes:

Gingerbread - hair perfect, couple marks, body is starting to grey, eyes perfect
Masquerade - hair perfect, head is darker than body & turns, highlighter marks, eyes are scraped
Sweet Pop - pink part of the mane trimmed in front to match her bangs, paint scraped off on one wing (I think, it's white?), eyes perfect

Do these count as BAIT?

Seawinkle - hair perfect, tiny mark near hairline (hidden most of the time), head is barely a different color than body, no shell

Pony Bride Bridal Beauty - pretty much perfect, no accessories

I can post photos for clarification if needed.
Thanks!

Her only real flaw is the slight color difference and this tiny mark hiding under her hair, and this plud that is shorter than the rest of the hair:

I find Masquerade rather creepy. It's the combination of the mold position, with the gem eyes, with the discolored head that swivels. Creeptastic! lol

Pony Corral / My Little Pony 2-Pack Pint Glasses
« on: April 30, 2014, 02:37:28 PM »
A friend of mine got me these for Christmas and I admit I did squeal when I opened the gift.

They say not to put them in the dishwasher because of the images printed on them so I thought I would hand-wash them... They did look a little odd before I washed them and I thought well maybe that's a factory flaw. I've come to the conclusion that the whole set is a factory flaw. lol

They are blue. But the blue will wash off if you aren't ridiculously careful. I can't even use these because I would have to wash them and they would just get worse so I've put them in my window to display them and you can't see where the blue has come off. In my opinion they are not worthy of collectors.

Has anyone else gotten these and experienced this?

Pony Brag Arena / Deflocked Ribbon, FF Blue Belle, Glow
« on: April 28, 2014, 09:59:08 AM »
So first off I want to show off my deflocked Ribbon. I did it myself so I can't say it's totally perfect but for the first pony I've deflocked I'm quite pleased. I gave her about 3 hot oxy clean baths which seemed to get the flocking and most of the glue debirs off. I ended up using acetone to get the last visible glue fog off of her body. I managed to not damage her hair, eyes, or symbols but I almost destroyed the blush on one side of her face with the acetone.

I have always loved Ribbon ever since my older brother had BBE Ribbon. And since there isn't a regular adult Ribbon (that I know of) I had to deflock her.

When I boiled my water on the stove and added the oxy clean it resulted in a classic 'science class volcano'. It got all over the stove and floor. I've learned from this and do it in the sink now. It was quite funny.

This was after one bath and scrub.

And finally I finished the project!!

Next up I got Glow off of ebay recently. ALL of the Glows had massive spots of cancer on their right sides and I was quite sad. And then this gem showed up.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Better than cancer, eh? Well, yes, because when I took her out of her packaging it scraped right off with my finger nail! I am thrilled!

And this last one I just got on Friday. This is Blue Belle. The photo on ebay didn't show it but she had a small black spot on her right cheek that looked suspiciously like a sharpie mark. Her body was also kinda discolored from dirt/age. So I gave her an oxy bath. The black spot came off eventually and you can kinda see a shadow of where it was. Some of the grime also came off and nothing got damaged!

The spot is right..... there.... Go ahead, try to find that spot shadow on the cheek.

I also must say I am very impressed with those that re-hair ponies. Just trying to get their own tails back in was a serious pain. Blue Belle was fine but Ribbon I ended up having to tape the end of her tail into a point and was about ready to use needle nose pliers to pull her tail through because it's thicker than the hole it's suppose to go into. You guys get serious points for doing that stuff regularly!

Introductions / Hi There...
« on: April 22, 2014, 07:50:13 PM »
Hello MLP world! This is where I introduce myself since I'm new to the forum.

I am in my early 30s and have been collecting ponies for a long time. In high school I decided that I needed to get all of the ponies I had when I was little that had disappeared mysteriously (lost, stolen by neighborhood kids, or thrown out of moving cars as a child, you know how it is). This meant finding Apple Jack, Moonstone, & Pinwheel. I also had to acquire 6 sets of the Lil' Litters (all the cats and two of the dogs) because somehow I lost all of them in a room remodel. I haven't quite accomplished this yet. :/

After I got the ponies I needed to satisfy my nostalgia I decided I just couldn't stop there and proceeded to collect all of the unicorn ponies with glittery symbols. All of the twinkle-eyed unicorns except for Mimic.  I went to college and stopped collecting for about 10 years and now here I am back collecting.

I am currently in the process of completing a Summer & Windy Wing collection and am starting to get the flat-feet ponies from year one. I'm tempted to get the rest of the rainbow ponies too because I love that look. Starflower and Pinwheel are my absolute favorites.

At some point I want to get a display case just so I can display them without getting dust all over them and to avoid too much UV exposure.

I suppose that's about it.

It's good to be part of a MLP community again.
