The other day I found one of those auctions that only shows part of the lot in the first picture. In the next pictures were some special ponies I've been after for a while! The bidding was competitive but I got these guys for a pretty good price, and a surprise -- I had no idea Baby Palm Tree was in the lot. I've wanted her ever since I passed one up at a flea market as a child because I was too embarrassed, "too old" for ponies. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginMost are bait (as I knew), truly bait. But Sea Mist, Sea Breeze, Baby Palm Tree, and others are not. Sea Breeze has a forelock trim, but it kind of fits her tomboy aura (which she's had in my head canon thanks to her backcard). visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginI'd wanted to get more Year 3 sea ponies this year, so it's nice to get two favorites for a decent price, only a few weeks before the year's end

So I'm moving into a new house and finally have room to have a pony display cabinet (as opposed to having my ponies scattered here and there around my room and the guest room!) The cabinet's now assembled (an Ikea Billy bookcase with glass doors) and today I started setting it up. This may not be my final version, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out I've considered doing risers so that more of the ponies in the back can be seen; we'll see. There were ponies that didn't fit in the cabinet and I will probably rotate them out at times to make new displays. Is anyone else here a fan of BTS? They performed on the AMAs tonight and it was daebak I've only been following them since early summer, but I think they're awesome. I'm both super excited to see them all over American media this month because I love to watch them, ha ha, and also a little nervous that this Korean band's move into the U.S. market will change them and what I like about them. Anyway, any fellow fans here? I'd love to hear your thoughts

I've heard it said and I've suspected for a while that Mimic may not be the rarest twinkle-eyed pony but is instead just uncommon and very popular. So, here's a super-thorough, perfectly-designed poll to test that theory! Just kidding . . . this poll will obviously only give us just a rough idea of how common Mimic is. There are so many more factors that we'd need to take into account to figure out if she's actually rare or not. But this should be fun, at any rate, if not perfectly accurate Fill out the poll above with each twinkle-eyed pony that you currently own (even if it's just in your sales box or bait box) and we'll see what our answers show. My money is on one of her set-mates winning the poll for rarity here -- possibly Quackers or Bright Eyes. All images from Ponyland Press. Edit: Thanks to Baby Sugarberry and Taffeta for pointing this out -- some of you may own more than one of a particular twinkle-eyed pony; you might have an army of Gingerbreads, have two Lockets in varying conditions, multiple Fizzys (like me), etc. If you do have more than one of a certain pony, please note that in the comments section so we can take that into account! Edit #2 (Nov. 10): Well, the results are in and I've finally had a chance to sit down and take a look at them. Of course, this poll only gives us a rough idea of whether Mimic is rarest, since we couldn't ask every pony collector everywhere whether they own a Mimic, and because there are Mimics in the world that don't belong to any collector, and for various other reasons . . . but still, this poll probably roughly reflects the reality. It looks like she is the rarest, as far as being *owned* by collectors who answered this poll. I thought Bright Eyes might win, but although their poll results are close, Mimic still wins (and by a larger margin when you factor in the people who had more than one Bright Eyes who answered in the comments). I went through the answers and tallied up the doubles that people had of certain TEs; as you'd expect, many of these were from the first TE set. I then added them to the poll results. The final tally looks like this (I put them in order from most common to least common): Fizzy: 100 Masquerade: 96 Whizzer: 95 Galaxy: 95 Sweet Stuff: 87 Gingerbread: 82 Speedy: 81 Party Time: 79 Locket: 75 Sky Rocket: 74 Tic-Tac-Toe: 73 Sweet Pop: 70 Quackers: 69 Bright Eyes: 64 Mimic: 52 There have been some excellent points made in this thread -- for instance, Mimic might be rare because she wasn't a general favorite when she was produced, in addition to being in the second TE set and probably not getting ordered by stores as much. (On the flip side, some pointed out that she starred in "The Golden Horseshoes," so she could actually have been a favorite.) She could be just "hard to buy" and not "hard to find," since her cost is prohibitive. Others pointed out that she is a pony with a lot of perceived worth and collectors might be less willing to part with a rare pony like her, making it harder for other collectors to find her. What do you guys think of the results? Anything else we should take into account? I think we can all say at least that Mimic, for whatever reason, is not an easy pony to get your hands on! And for the record, I think she's very pretty and worth having, at the right price Mimic visitors can't see pics , please register or loginLocket visitors can't see pics , please register or loginBright Eyes visitors can't see pics , please register or loginQuackers visitors can't see pics , please register or loginTic-Tac-Toe visitors can't see pics , please register or loginSpeedy visitors can't see pics , please register or loginSweet Pop visitors can't see pics , please register or loginSky Rocket visitors can't see pics , please register or loginSweet Stuff visitors can't see pics , please register or loginGalaxy visitors can't see pics , please register or loginMasquerade visitors can't see pics , please register or loginFizzy visitors can't see pics , please register or loginWhizzer visitors can't see pics , please register or loginGingerbread visitors can't see pics , please register or loginParty Time visitors can't see pics , please register or login

The kitchen counter/my laptop will serve as the backdrop for this little brag . . . excuse the poor photography My birthday was a little while ago and my family picked out some ponies for me that I've wanted for a long time! I had always thought it would be awesome to get Vanilla Treat for my birthday and my brother and sister got her for me visitors can't see pics , please register or loginShe needs a little cleaning up but I'm so happy to have her. I was opening presents with my family, and after Vanilla Treat I opened Honeycomb, another pony I've wanted for a while. Now of the original UK set I have both her and Gypsy. In my head-canon she's going to be Surprise's sister -- there's not really any difference between them, except, obviously, the symbol, very cute glittery bees. Also Honeycomb's hair is nicer than my Surprise's hair, which used to be curly but is now long and a bit rough . . . Then I was shocked to open my next gift -- Baby Honeycomb! I never thought my parents would get her for me. She's not that easy to find and she's expensive for a vinyl toy. I was so happy. My mom says they came from the same seller (any of you guys?); I like to think that maybe they've been together all their vinyl lives. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI also had randomly checked Ebay a few days before for vintage Littlest Pet Shop guinea pigs that I've wanted literally since I was 8. Normally they're hard to find and the listing I'd seen over and over again had them for about $100. To my shock that day there was an inexpensive buy-it-now with free shipping, so of course I went ahead! I'm so happy to have these guys now. Fulfilling childhood dreams, ha ha. I love guinea pigs and they are so cute. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThanks for reading!

My sister just bought a house and I'm going to be moving in with her. The thing is, we've never moved before! We've lived in the same house all our lives. What advice can you guys give? Do you recommend moving all of your belongings at once or a little at a time? (we're moving out of our family home so this is possible for us; there's no strict time limit, and the house is only 15 minutes away). Are there any organizational tips you have or things you wish you'd done when you moved? Also, we're buying some furniture and other necessities; do you guys have any advice about the best places to find cheap stuff?
I'm kind of excited because for the first time I'll have room for a little display cabinet for ponies, and the parts of the collection that don't fit I think will go under my bed in plastic bins. Do you have any pony storage/display/moving advice? Thanks for any and all advice!

This week's Ebay auctions include some lovely ponies, such as a TAF Sundance with soft pink hair and original curls, an adorable TAF Yum Yum, Goldilocks, and Scoops. I've also listed bargain lots for the less-picky collector, and a hard-to-find Lady LovelyLocks kitten, Sunny Soft. So who's your favorite male G1? The lineup in our poll includes all adult, canon-male, worldwide (or nearly worldwide) G1 releases (since if I included babies, nirvanas, and ponies you think of as male, we'd be here a long time)! Choose carefully! You get two votes. Feel free to write your reasons for your votes in the comments. There is an "other" category if you really must choose someone not on the list. Let's find out who the most beloved male G1s are! It's a bit too late to be asking this question, ha ha, since I don't plan to kick the G1 collecting habit now, but I thought I'd bring it up for discussion. Ever since I learned that, apparently, 1980s toys including My Little Ponies may contain hazardous amounts of lead (or even cadmium or arsenic) and that they aren't recommended for children's play (which stinks because I've imagined giving them to my someday-daughters), I've wondered if they're safe for adult collectors. (I'd post a link to the sites I've read this on but I'm not sure it's allowed . . . ) Like, are we touching lead every day and slowly poisoning ourselves? Should we be wearing masks and handling ponies with gloves? What about hazmat suits? I know it's a weird question, but I thought it worth asking. What do you guys think? Are G1s safe? Would things change for you if they aren't?

I purchased a group of ponies that have been giving me a lot of headaches. The seller shipped them wet in Ziploc baggies; I'm not sure how long they had been in that condition, whether she cleaned them some time after she listed them (they weren't wet in the pictures) or just before she shipped them off. At any rate, wet ponies in enclosed spaces in Florida humidity and heat is not a good thing. I got them out as soon as I received them, of course, and dried them off. But most have strange marks. For whatever reason, many of the ponies in the lot have brown marks that aren't quite like anything I've seen before. I'd normally say that they're age marks, but they're often in lines instead of patches and I'm wondering if it's something worse. What's going on with these ponies? I've seen a fair share of flaws in my time, but I'm not sure what this is. It's hard to see these marks sometimes even up close -- the brown marks are pretty faint and I didn't see them all at first -- so I've tried to point them out with arrows when it's unclear. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or login

Baby Sapphire has arrived! I found her on Ebay for a decent buy-it-now price and went for it. I've wanted her for quite some time, partly because of her lovely pose, which I've always liked. She's the first baby I've had in this graceful left-facing head-turn pose. And her colors are so lovely. I've been admiring her these past few days and couldn't be happier! I took some glamour shots on the kitchen counter -- where else? It was the only place I could find good lighting. I find her lovely despite the setting, lol. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or login
