Pony Corral / The adventures of Baby Quackers (pic heavy)
« on: October 28, 2012, 01:56:17 PM »
Last weekend the OH and myself went to north Wales for a few days. We we went for long walks in the countryside and spent a day in Llandudno, which is a seaside town with a pier and arcades etc. Baby Quackers came too! As did a small Rainbow Dash. Here are some choice photos of the holiday:

These are all from Llandudno. I was afraid to put Baby Quackers on the pier incase she blew away  as it was really quite windy. I also found a terrifying fakie & some stuffed ponies on sticks (which I don't really understand) whilst on the pier:

Gazing out to sea from atop a wooden mushroom (Llandudno has a lot of Alice in Wonderland stuff as it's where the real Alice Liddel went on holiday as a child)

and on the Alice book-chair-thing:

Finally, a couple of shots on the beach:

Phew!

I also rescued a beanie baby unicorn from a charity shop basket of toys here, she was only £1 and I felt bad that she was left in a charity shop so I rescued her

Off Topic / NaNoWriMo anyone?
« on: October 27, 2012, 03:40:13 PM »
Is anyone here taking part in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) this year? I am just signing up for my first attempt at it, and was just wondering if anyone else is doing it. If so this could be some sort of support thread?!

Pony Corral / In time for Halloween... pony horror pictures!
« on: October 16, 2012, 12:33:21 PM »
After seeing a couple of other threads with ponies who are full of rust or covered in mold recently, I thought this might be a fun idea for a thread, especially on the run up to Halloween! So, terrify me with your rusty/mouldy/dirty ponies!

Here are mine:

Rusty! Ew.

Wanted! / Wanted - Baits
« on: October 15, 2012, 06:19:01 AM »
Hello everypony

I am really enjoying rehairing at the moment, and I'd like some more baits. Preferably ponies who have no hair or very little hair but otherwise are in reasonable condition. I don't mind rubbed symbols as I can repaint them, but I'd prefer no chewed limbs or cancer.

Let me know what you have! Bear in mind I'm based in the UK :)

Edited to add: G1s please preferably, or G4s.

Off Topic / Pumpkins!
« on: October 14, 2012, 10:30:52 AM »
I bought a pumpkin yesterday so that I can make a Halloween lantern, something I haven't done in years. Anyway, obviously I'll end up with a lot of pumpkin insides when I hollow it out, so please share with me your awesome ideas/recipes for what can be done with them!

Wanted! / Those of you in sunnier countries...
« on: October 12, 2012, 01:39:27 AM »
Does anyone who lives somewhere nice and sunny in the Winter offer any kind of sunfading service? I have three ponies in my window and it has been raining solidly for about 2 weeks now. :( They are going to take a very long time at this rate! Anyway, give me a shout if you are somewhere sunny and you have a spare window. I will reward you with British sweets or ponies or good old fashioned monies.

Customs / UK Dollyhair request
« on: October 10, 2012, 01:53:04 PM »
Hi UK ponies, do any of you have any spare dollyhair that you might like to swap for a hank of MLP Fairy's Breath or MLP Virgin Snow? I'm looking for lots of colours really, reds, blues, greens, let me know what you have!

Thanks :)

Trader & Shipping Support / Customs heads up for those in the UK
« on: October 10, 2012, 09:26:34 AM »
This has been mentioned quite a bit recently, but I thought I'd mention what just happened to me. I had a card through the door asking me for an additional £13.68 for customs fees on an item. I popped into the depot today and said item was a package marked as other $10.  Now that's a bit cheeky from customs, because I shouldn't be charged unless the item is merchandise and £15 or over (not dollars) or a £40 or more gift.

I paid but asked the man in the PO and he said, oh yeah, they just put fees on them randomly. So I thought I'dmention it here. It's a bit of a bummer since this was a private swap and now I'm paying £13 for it, on the whim of customs. Sort of puts me off buying from abroad a little.

Pony Corral / Moondancer Restoration - Complete! (pic heavy)
« on: October 02, 2012, 12:54:28 AM »
A few months ago I received a Moondancer oddly covered in white paint. To clean her up I used nail polish remover and then had to repaint her symbols, as a lot had come off when I took the paint off. Here she is!

Customs / Restored/customised Secret Surprise pony (pic heavy)
« on: October 01, 2012, 10:50:00 AM »
When I received her she had no back and no hair apart from a tiny tuft all along her mane. I posted about the new mane recently, but now she has a new tail & a new saddle! She's all fixed up! So here are her before and after shots:

She does look a little insane now, and that isn't exactly the most symmetrical saddle ever, but I still think she looks a lot better!

Customs / My first rehair!
« on: September 25, 2012, 11:38:33 AM »
I just finished my first rehair! Only the mane at the moment (I have done a tail before though), but three colours! She's also not really styled, just as is when I put the hair in. This was the Secret Surprise pony I had, all bald and sad before:

And this is her modeling her brand new mane!

If I ever manage to get that troublesome bit of plastic out of her middle I'll do her tail to match. As you can see she was in a pretty sorry state before, but hopefully she'll start to perk up a bit now she's looking more glamorous :)

(Mods, please feel free to shuffle this to customs if you think it's more suitable there, I'm not sure since the Corral is where the alternate rehairs thread lives)

Pony Corral / Bunny Hop restore - update!
« on: September 22, 2012, 09:07:11 AM »
Ages ago (I think three months maybe) I got a lot of ponies from Etsy who were in need of a bit of help. One of them was Bunny Hop. Originally she looked like this:

She's not completely fixed up yet, but I repinked her hair, gave her a big clean and fixed her hair, and she's been sat in the window for the last 3 months. I didn't think she was improving, but since looking back at the before pictures I can see she has been! It's a slow process though.

I added this one of her feet too, although there's no original shot of her feet they were also covered in highlighter and some kind of random blue pen.

I still need to take her head off and get her tail out so I can sort out the rust and remove the washer, but getting ponies heads off is becoming the bane of my pony existence right now!

Off Topic / I got the job!
« on: September 21, 2012, 01:45:42 PM »
Thanks for the luck everyone, I got the job! WOOO! My first permanent job since I left university 8 years ago. (I've done a lot of temping). I brought Baby Quackers with me to the interview as well (in my handbag, I didn't just put her on the table. You can tell that because they gave me the job and didn't have me escorted off the premises.) so obviously that helped  ;)

I'm going to drink some wine now.
