« on: January 25, 2013, 11:22:51 PM »
I figure I can't be the only one who pauses the webisodes to get a better look at background characters.. right?

So.. Do you guys have favorites that you would like to see made into dolls?

For me, It's this horned girl.

I too am having problems with DH.
Quick question - With her behavior in the last couple months including some negative things she has said on here in open threads and her downright unprofessional manner. Also the fact that these threads get so heated because of how furious she has made numerous people - why isn't she banned from the arena? She obviously has scammed quite a few people and people are upset.

That is a very good question. *watches for an answer*

:( I'm sorry that you feel this way Maniah

Oh, I was being quite sincere when I stated that it was other people here who had expressed those views to me. I wasn't trying to hide my own views by just saying that it was someone else. I think that most who have seen me around here know I am not afraid to say what is on my mind, even if it is an unpopular opinion. ;)  I just wanted to share with Sunshine so she didn't feel alone, without outing my friends. They are not as comfortable about speaking out as often or as loudly as I am.

The Dollhouse / Where to find custom made doll wings?
« on: December 24, 2012, 08:11:01 PM »
I have a doll idea that I am gathering stuff to eventually make, and I will need a pair of custom made feathered wings. I have been googling and checking etsy. There are two people that I have contacted but they never replied to me.

Does anyone know of someone who is making feathered wings in doll size who is actively working on them or taking commissions? I just want them to look really nice, so I have been a bit particular about who I have contacted.

Thank you in advance if you have any leads!

You are not alone Sunshine. I know a couple people directly who I will not name out of respect for their privacy who think that Dollyhair gets special treatment because she has been around for so long and they are afraid to speak up because they think the moderators will just make excuses for her and then lock and hide the posts. They are of the assumption that because she is the only one who carries those hair colors that no one will stand up to her and no one will back the people who DO stand up to her. So they stay mostly quiet unless someone else says something first.

More people need to speak up when they have these problems. Thank you for doing so.

I've added her to the Bad Traders List but there has been no official announcement of her inclusion, so many people are still being caught off-guard.  :(

Had she been on there before today? If so, why no official announcement? Or will one be coming? If it could have helped to warn people so they are not caught off-guard it seems like a courteous service announcement. Thank you for taking the time to keep the list updated for us though, all the same :)

The Dollhouse / Angelic Dreamz?
« on: December 20, 2012, 06:20:43 AM »
I saw that AngelicDreamz.com had B&W Frankie for $5 plus shipping.. But when I tried to check out with PayPal, it gave me reason to suspect fraud. They asked me to enter my bank account number, or my credit card number. I NEVER have had to do that anywhere when checking out with PayPal. It always just takes the money from wherever I want according to my preset options..

Is AngelicDreamz a safe place to buy? Has anyone else experienced this? I closed the website because right now it feels like a scam to steal my info.

The Dollhouse / Midnight Magic Vs. Monster High (Pic HEAVY)
« on: December 17, 2012, 08:57:17 AM »
I saw these fakies get mentioned before, but I hadnt seen them around locally, nor had I seen in depth photos posted here.

Well, I suffer from the same disease everyone else here suffers from. My MH dolls grew on me. They fed off of my love and adoration and started multiplying. Within just a couple weeks, One became 10! So I figured hey, if these fakies work out well, I can get cheap outfits! And since they are bigger, maybe I can scalp them!

Enjoy the results of a $15 expirament.

One thing that stands out to me immediately as I debox the first girl is "Wow! The quality of this hair is so soft! It's like dollyhair nylon!" Seriously. The hair quality shocked me. The plugs are a little spread out, but not as badly as  feared. The second thing that jumped out to me was that the limbs were POORLY made. The first dolls arm broke off at the elbow as I was trying to pose her. Also, they have barbie style legs. Also, one of them had her arm snap off at the shoulder in the process of deboxing her. The post snapped like a twig. Some of the limbs are not well made, with plastic covering up the joints. So if you try and bend it, the plastic blocks you.

For this first outfit, the clothes fit loosely on Draculaura, but thanks to the tie in the back, the top stays up ok. On Nefara, the clothes are a much better fit, though still slightly loose. This holds true for all outfits. For these clothes to fit regular dolls well, they would need to be altered slightly.

Outfit 2 also fits ok on Lala, but again, fits Nefara better.

Outfit 3 comes from Lala's "doppleganger". As you can see from the side view, the top gapes open flashing her chest pretty bad.

Outfit 4. Not much to say.

On a whim, I decided to see if the MM hands would fit MH dolls. They had an odd sort of knob on the end of the plug and I had to use pliers to remove them. I cut/shaved the knob off with an xacto knife, and the hand fit smoothly into Lala's socket. It is slightly larger and not as well formed though.

I also decided to see how badly scalping them would fail. The dolls ARE larger, but their heads are proportional, unlike MH heads. This meant that the scalp was too small to work. Lala really liked the hair though and was reluctant to give up the scalp! It really is surprisingly pretty hair!

And finally, the sadness that are the shoes. Each MM doll gets the same shoe mold in a different color.

These shoes CAN fit on a MH doll with a little pushing, but they are very loose on her. The plastic is that super cheap thin plastic toy quality. Like really old barbie shoes. Maybe thinner. I'm thinking plastic toys from the dollar store type of cheap.

Hopefully this has helped someone in some way, even if it was just to assuage curiosity! I found these at Walgreens, and I would be happy to sell these dolls off for any sort of offer. The broken ones will just go straight in the trash probably, followed by the others when i inevitably get no replies. I'd like to keep the blue dress, but the other clothes are up for sale if you feel like making an offer.

Thanks for reading!

I would love a pair of large feathered angel type wings to fit on a MH doll, if anyone is able to make some. Fallen Angel is the theme. They would need to be white feathers with the tips of the feathers black. I apologize for being so picky about the look and quality of these wings, but I am prepared to pay for the quality I desire. Pending

The Dollhouse / Loose Limbs

Is there any sort of do it yourself fix for limbs that are a little bit loose? Id hate to return a doll just because a limb is a little bit loose, but at the same time.. :(

I got Meowlody and Purrsephone, but they didn't come with stands. Does anyone happen to have two stands they would sell or trade me? I have hair and bait G3 ponies that I could trade if you wanted. Also rehairing tools and needles. Im happy to just buy the stands also.

Just need one stand now

The Dollhouse / Sewing
« on: December 05, 2012, 07:54:04 PM »
It has been.. 20 Years since I have sewn anything. I no longer have a sewing machine, and so will have to do it by hand. (Is a sewing machine even viable for such tiny garments?)

I was wondering.. With patterns, is it best to maybe rip apart some of the clothes that came with my doll to get the correct shapes? Or should i just cut out a rough shape, pin it to her, trim it down, do a loose stitch and adjust it till it fits, then sew it tight? Or is there a decent resource online for basic patterns that I could use to start my designs?

I'm going to do it all by hand for now. But if having a sewing machine would be better, and I like it ok, I might look into buying a very very cheap one.

I just have original characters that I have used in role playing games and stories over the years, and I would like to make their looks. Im just not sure how to start.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Customs / Is anyone looking to take a commission?
« on: December 03, 2012, 03:35:08 PM »
I have a customer I can refer to someone if they are looking for a commission.

He wants a G3 pony based off of "Ultimate Spiderman". He's looking for the pony done in the costume, with a short red mane and tail. No sculpting needed. He just wants clean lines and accurate colors. He kept referring to this pony http://surlygurls.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/jodimoisan_my_little_spider_man.jpg?w=400&h=398 And Im not sure who made her, but I did tell him that I won't just copy someone elses work. Unfortunately, that pony is basically just the Ultimate Spiderman suit on a pony. Not a lot of room for creativity with it.. Though at that point, I dont think it's copying that pony, so much as just copying spiderman. *shrug*

My price that I quoted him for this was $60 (shipping included) and he offered $75 paid up front if it could be done and mailed to him by Christmas. You are free to charge your own prices, but that gives you a ballpark idea of what he was willing to spend on me.

I had to turn down this commission due to a complication on my end (Im not doing any more airbrushing or aerosol till I have a proper painters mask), but I told him I can refer someone to him. So, anyone who is interested, just send me a PM including both your email address, and a link to some of your current work. I will forward anyone who responds by 12/4 5pm Central to him, and let him contact whomever he likes.

The Dollhouse / Your Two Cents Worth
« on: December 01, 2012, 02:17:07 AM »
Lots of people like to put in their two cents worth on any number of topics. So.. How about it? I'm collecting pennies ;)

What advice would you give to someone who was interested in dabbling with customizing MH dolls?

I have been walking past them in stores for the last year, and at first I thought they were ridiculous, but the more I see them, the more they grow on me!! I find myself eyeing customs and dolls in the stores going "hmmm.. Its really different than doing a pony.. could I do it?"

What tutorials would you suggest using?

Are there things commonly used/done in custom pony making that carry over very well? Or things that you should never ever try? (Like pure acetone on the doll's body!)
