Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Shopkins!
« on: February 11, 2019, 10:40:54 PM »
I know there's been Shopkins threads in the past, but they're all too old to post in now, and Shopkins is a collection I've been focusing on a lot recently, so I want to discuss them here, if any of you guys also collect them! I started collecting them because back in December 2017, my mom and I were doing Christmas shopping for my half-sister's kids. She has two daughters and a son, and we got her daughters Shoppie dolls. One of them was Rosa Pinata (think the other was the original Pippa Melon?) and I fell in love with her design. I was tempted to buy a second for myself but ended up not doing so (I have her now though, don't worry!). I managed to resist buying one for the next six months, but in June decided to start getting them, my first was the Jessicake from the Wild Style line. At first I was just going to get a few, but it kind of escalated fast. Now I've got 33 regular size Shoppies (with a 34th on the way that I ordered online last night), and other Shopkins stuff such as Happy Places Shoppies, Lil' Secrets playsets, Cutie Cars, Shoppets, and of course Shopkins themselves. I've decided that my goal is to eventually have every Shoppie. Regular size, Happy Places, all of them. They are definitely my favorite dolls right now. Adorable faces, beautiful designs and color schemes, lovely hair styles. I adore these dolls and I want them all now. Oops.

Here's my collection!

I went to Target today, hoping to get some of the new Wedding Bash Cutie Mark Crews. Unfortunately, they were completely sold out, but its display box was still sitting on the shelf, so I figured I'd ask them if I could buy that. I asked an employee who was walking around the store, she just said to ask when I pay. So I did, and then that employee asked me to ask at customer service. So, third time's the charm I suppose, I asked the guy at customer service, and he let me take it home for free, since they have no way to charge for it.

Anyway, here it is!

And here's what it looks like on display!

After I took that photo I changed up the top tier a bit. Added my McDonald's Cutie Mark Crew toys (they're standing on puzzles from Dollar Tree), and removed the Songbird and Rarity as they no longer fit.

This is the first thing like this I've added to my collection, I've been wanting some sort of display like this for a while, it's very nice to display on. The design on the front is pretty tall though, so that made it a challenge to work for the McD ones, but thankfully four of those puzzles just fit, they fit in there tight, but it works.

Customs / Recommended paints?
« on: December 06, 2018, 12:53:41 PM »
Hey guys! So the tinsel and rehairing tool I ordered arrived a few days ago, so now I need to get paint so I can start working on my very first custom. I was wondering what kinds of paints you guys use for your customs, as well as what kind of sealant you recommend!

Been a while since I've made a brag thread here. I buy ponies somewhat regularly, but it's not usually enough that I feel it warrants a brag thread, but I got two lots, a small one and a pretty big one, and also bought a few ponies on Instagram, they all arrived yesterday and the day before, so with that many ponies in such a short amount of time, I feel it warrants a thread! Especially considering one of the ponies I got in one of the lots!

First, starting with the smallest haul, the ponies I got on Instagram. I got these girls from @thetimetravelerstoys on IG:

A few of these ponies are upgrade, but most are entirely new to my collection. There were a ton of dupes tha weren't upgrade in the lot too, all G3 and G4, mostly McDonald's ponies. I won't take photos of them though, and I plan on giving those all to my nieces the next time they come over!

Pony Corral / Peek-A-Boo Baby head removal?
« on: July 29, 2018, 12:53:13 PM »
Does anyone know how to remove the head of a Peek-A-Boo Baby pony? My Baby Noddins had tail rust when I bought her a few years ago and I've just been putting off fixing it the whole time because I'm afraid of ruining her gimmick. Has anyone here removed the head of one before? How do I do it correctly without breaking it? And how do I get it back on afterwards?

Pony Corral / Sugarberry Pose height differences?
« on: July 08, 2018, 08:55:15 PM »
I don't think I've ever seen anybody mention this in the past, and this is only something I noticed in my own collection last week.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

These are the five ponies I have so far in the Sugarberry pose. Last week I had noticed that Scoops was taller than Pillow Talk, Tic Tac Toe, and Stardancer, despite the four ponies all sharing the same pose. After getting Taffy yesterday, I noticed that like Scoops, she's taller. All five of these ponies were made in Hong Kong. Does anybody know why these height differences might exist? And does anyone else have ponies in this pose of differing heights? And are there any other poses where this occurs? I'd love to know if any of you guys have noticed this with your ponies!

Her only flocking loss is on the tips of her ears and a bit on her hooves, just the typical places. Her flocking is a tad dirty from what seems to be lint (or something else, maybe another fuzzy item came into contact with her) in it, I went over her with a lint roller and it helped a little bit. Cleaning with soap and (cold) water didn't really do anything. Her tail's a bit frizzy. But what matters is that she's got most of her flocking! She was only $3.99, as the vendor of that particular booth doesn't seem to be knowledgeable on ponies, just judging by the prices of all the ponies I've got and seen there. They just price the ponies based on size (the smaller ponies are cheaper, larger, such as styling G3s, are more expensive), and on their tags just write "pony" or "little pony", so I don't think they ever do research on the ponies they sell, haha. At least in this case it results in ponies being underpriced instead of overpriced like you see on eBay!

Pony Brag Arena / Antique Mall haul
« on: May 03, 2018, 01:49:18 PM »
Been a while since I've had something I've felt to be brag thread worthy! I add to my collection pretty often, but usually small amounts at a time, just G4 ponies and merch that I don't feel is worthy of its own brag thread, so I just post it to Instagram and Amino and leave it at that.

But, I went to an antique mall today to see if they had gotten in more ponies since I was last there. They did, and it was pretty great! They had some G1s there, and during all my previous visits I had only ever seen G3 and G4.

Anyway, onto my new ponies!

Whoever this vendor is doesn't seem to do any research on ponies, which normally is frustrating as it often leads to overpricing, but it often leads to underpricing in the case of this vendor. They tend to price normal sized ponies around $2 - $5, and larger ponies $10 and below. The most I've ever spent here on a single pony was G3 styling Rarity for $10. Baby Paws was just $2.99, forget the prices of the others, but they were all around $3 or $4 each, Rarity was in a $9 bag with some ponies I already had (and thus didn't photograph), but I figured that was probably around her original price anyway so I got her despite her being the only one in the bag I didn't have. Anyway, Baby Paws was on my wishlist for a while, and now I finally have him! :lovey:

There were some more G1s beyond these four, but they were ones I owned already.

Pony Corral / Removing dirt stains?
« on: March 16, 2018, 01:52:39 PM »
So on Monday I thrifted two G1 ponies the Goodwill - Baby Tiddley-Winks and Forget-Me-Not. They were both caked in dirt, but Baby Tiddley-Winks especially had it bad. I used a magic eraser on them as I do with all my thrifted ponies, and that got the dirt off, but the dirt left some stains that are being pretty stubborn.

Here's what they both look like after I used the Magic Eraser (I have before photos in this Imgur album), photo is from a couple days ago:

I just got done trying to use the OxiClean boiling method (with Baby Tiddley-Winks at least, apparently OxiClean is bad on Flutter pony tabs?) and it didn't seem to make any sort of difference. Did I use the wrong type of OxiClean (the whitening one for laundry)? Should I have actually boiled the water as opposed to simply using hot water from the tap? Did I not leave her in long enough? I couldn't find any information on if there is a specific kind of OxiClean you should use or exactly how long you usually leave the pony in for, I think the maximum amount of time I had her in there was a little over five minutes.

Is there anything else that could remove these dirt stains?

Pony Corral / Can anyone ID this hood Megan is wearing?
« on: February 17, 2018, 08:39:00 PM »
I thrifted a Megan at the Goodwill tonight, and she's wearing a hood that doesn't seem to belong to her. Does anyone know what it's from?

Pony Brag Arena / Big Pony Thrift Haul (including a G1 pony!)
« on: January 11, 2018, 05:20:55 PM »
I went to Value Village today to pony (and doll) hunt! I got really lucky in terms of pony stuff (less so in dolls, only found one Monster High doll and she's a budget doll).

Here's all the pony stuff together (before being cleaned)!

Twilight's a bit faded.

G4.5 Fluttershy, G4 Pinkie, and G4 Applejack:

Fluttershy seems to be from the Nurturing Friends set, Pinkie is from a budget bag, and Applejack seems to be from the Explore Equestria singles with the headbands, judging from her display side and Zap Code.

McDonald's: Rainbow Dash mask (2017), Pinkie Pies (2014 and 2016), Twilight Sparkle (2015), and Rarity (2016):

I now have all the McD masks!

I only have two things to brag about (I'll be getting more with some of the money I've received though), but I'm really excited about the first one!

So when I had gone to that secondhand toy store a few days back and bought myself Water Lily and a Petite Pony, my mom bought me Sealight for Christmas, and I got to open her today.
