I recently aquired her but she has a MAJOR hair cut.
Any ideas on her hair colours so I can reroot her?

In the process of turning some Monster High dolls into ponies, I thought why not make Nightmare into a pony too?
So I did.

She was extremely fun to do and I was thrilled with how her teeny saddle and bridle came out.

She was painted in Citadel Acrylic and her sculpting was done using Fimo air.
She has been rerooted by in Pacific Ocean and Heartthrob nylon from MyLittleCustoms.

Her little skulls were such fun to paint.

It all started with Jayden Fire my Dragon Ghoul and then came Spectra and now Operetta.
I also really want Rochelle and Venus...

I have been involved in an offsite trade with another artist.
For me she has made a GORGEOUS plush of The Great and Powerful Trixie who i will be bragging about as soon as she gets here.

ANYWAY!

Luna is made from a Princess Cadance who was terribly derped in the eye department so it wasn't difficult for me to take her apart!
I didn't realise that access to her tail was through her wings so I spent the best part of half an hour hacking at the neck plug. UGGGHH so needless to say, her head doesn't turn.

She was repainted with Citadel Acrylics and her necklace was sculpted with Fimo using a tinfoil base.
She was rehaired with nylon in the colours Hyacinth and Forget-me-Not.
Her tiara is G4 Luna's painted black and with the ends clipped off for a better fit. She does have glitter in her hair but it doesn't show in the images.

Fun fact: Luna's hair is the longest I have put in a single pony =D


Now as a surprise I made a second custom pony to tag along with Luna.
This is NASA Pony.
I have no idea what her real name is but she is the OC of the person I am trading with. I opted to make her a filly instead of a pony because well because she's CUTE!
Started life as Applebloom.
She was painted in Citadel Acrylics and rehaired with White Witch nylon.
Her symbol was a P.I.T.A to do and I know it's not perfect but at least you can see what it's meant to be right?

So my Lyra and Trixie brushables arrived this morning.
I opened the box with SO MUCH JOY...

Only to discover that both my new ladies had terribly matted hair and Lyra was COVERED in black smudges.
My initial reaction was that I was terribly upset with their conduit, for apparently brand new out-of-box ponies.

I had a closer inspection and Lyra's smudges were just that, dark smudges that cleaned off with some gentle rubs of acetone soaked cotton wool.

They both had crazy wild hair but some teasing with a comb and a shampoo sorted that.
They've been left all day to dry and I unwrapped them this evening upon coming home from work.

I love them so much, Their colours are so vibrant and pretty and they certainly break up the heavy pink factor on my G4 shelf.

I'm so pleased with these girls and I cannot wait for Lemon Tart/Hearts to arrive...

...Though I have renamed her Triforce.

So my friend asked me what went into customising a pony from start to finish but she hasn't been the only one.
So I figured rather than write a massive wall of text worthy of a potato or a long rambling description I'd make a photoblog and show everyone.

It was alot of fun to do and I even got to show one of my commissioners the work that went into the pony she wanted.

This poor pony has been customised by just about everyone =p
Seeing as I will NEVER possess an actual G1 Mimic. I got bored and decided to make my own.

She is a FBR Walking Pose Rarity painted with Citadel Acrylics and sealed with Mod Podge.
She has been rehaired with Electric Banana, Pussycat, Envy and Watermelon Martini (No Sugarberry left. I improvised)
Her eyes are 5mm Swarovski crystals (YES they finally arrived!)

I love her <3

And of course, her golden horseshoes. Quest for the Golden Horseshoes was my favourite MLP movie, so I simply had to add them to my Mimic.

He's not perfect but he's finished.
My first attempt at a G4 boy, I like how he's turned out.

I learned a lot from making him, the main thing being BUY BETTER CLAY.

He is made from a G4 Applejack bait. - His head still turns.
He's been fully painted in Citadel Acyrlics and sealed with Mod Podge.
His harness is fixed in place and cannot be removed, that, his face and hooves have been sclupted with DAS clay.
He's been rehaired with Mango Tango nylon hair.
