So I've been living in Las Vegas for the last year, but my agency is sending me to Salt Lake City for a temporary assignment. It'll be at least 6 months, maybe a year. So I'm getting ready to move, AGAIN. grooooooaaaaaan I can't afford to keep my current rental while I'm not living there, so I'm getting ready to put most of my stuff, many ponies and other toys included, into storage. I'm getting an apartment in Salt Lake City and taking a U-Haul trailer of basic furniture with me. I'm going to try to take my more valuable nirvanas with me rather than leaving them in storage, but it will depend on how much room I have in the trailer.
Summer temperatures here are around 115 F for about 3 months straight, so climate controlled storage is a must. (I know plastic degrades rapidly at high temperatures, and ponies become discolored.) A friend who had a bad experience in the past advised me to look for a storage company that's fairly new, so the cooling system is less likely to break down. That seemed like good advice, and she also pointed out that if it does break down, it will probably still be under warranty so the owners will fix it quickly, rather than wait because they have to pay out of pocket.
There's a new storage company just down the street that I have my eye on; it's less than a year old. They have a unit available in the middle of the facility, where it's coolest in summer, well away from outside walls that get hot in the strong sun. The employees say it stays in the 80s there in summer, and that sounds acceptable to me. And the managers live on site and seem to have their act together; I felt comfortable with them.
My question is about their cooling system, which is a swamp cooler, not an air conditioner. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with storing ponies in a space with a swamp cooler system. I'm from the Midwest, and I'd never even heard of a swamp cooler before; I don't think it's used there very often. But apparently it's a system that cools by circulating cold water through pipes, and it's fairly common around here. I guess I just want to know if it's effective at keeping the high temperatures down.
I was also wondering if humidity would be a problem. I don't think it sends out a mist or anything, but I'm not positive; I'll ask the employees. My first thought was that a system that pumps cold water through pipes might increase the humidity, which is also bad for pony storage. But then I thought, "Kelly, this is Vegas. The air here is so dry to begin with, that even if the cooling system does increase the humidity a little, it would probably just bring the humidity levels up to something near what would be considered normal in other parts of the country."
So what do you guys think? Does anyone have experience with swamp coolers and pony storage? Thanks!!

I think it's pretty common for the rare Greek babies to have thin tails, right? I've seen it lots of times. I had always assumed that their tail hairs were poorly attached or inserted, and just came loose when brushed.
I have a dark blue Greek Baby Bluebelle with a thin tail and some wear. Since Greek heads aren't glued anyway, I opened her up to take a look. I was surprised to see no washer at all! Instead her tail hairs are tied in a knot around what appears to be half a bobbie pin!
Has anyone else ever seen this? It's definitely weird, but sort of looks original to me. I wonder if the factory improvised for a while when it ran out of washers, and didn't want to postpone production to wait for more. The hair definitely looks original. It's the right color, and it has some age and wear.
Seriously, the job looks too shoddy to be a custom. It reminds me of the UK princess vatiants, just thrown together with whatever was on hand.

So I bought the piece of the Delaneys' collection that I wanted the most: the German Ferris wheel store display! But it comes with a couple of separate pieces, and I'm not sure where they go. They're both rainbow arches, with clouds at the ends, and they say "Mein Kleines Pony" (I think I got the spelling right; they're boxed in the other room right now). So basically it's the MLP logo in German. One rainbow is slightly larger than the other.
I think one goes on the tab at the center of the wheel. I'm not sure about the other; maybe it's supposed to hang from the ceiling above the whole display.
Anyway, does anyone have pics of other German Ferris wheel store displays? Maybe they'll show me what I'm supposed to do with these separate rainbow pieces.

I have a pony lot listed on Ebay right now. I got a message asking if I'd be willing to ship to Uruguay. She said that she's an Arena member, but didn't mention her username here.
Does anyone have experience shipping to Uruguay? Did everything go alright?
I once returned a pony to a seller in Argentina. It took FOUR MONTHS for the package to arrive; I thought for sure it had been lost or stolen. It did arrive safely (eventually), but I wouldn't want to deal with that again. And I've heard that shipping to other South and Central American countries can be risky.
Keep in mind that the US doesn't have any options for first class international shipping with reliable tracking. If you want good tracking, you have to get FedEx, UPS, DHL, or USPS priority international, and that's very expensive.

BRAZIL PEACHY: $30 Excellent condition, really just some fairly light playwear overall (for a nirvana pony). The only mark is a pink dot on her chest. Hair is great with just a little dryness on the ends, with just the start of light Brazil frizz. Some missing plugs at base of mane. Tail used to be braided and is still wavy. Tail is uneven on the ends, but that appears to be just the way it was inserted at the factory. Symbols are excellent, very light wear, no rubs. Eyes look great. Never had blush. Neck is not sealed (normal for Brazilians). No stains under feet. No odors. No tail rust. Does not rattle. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginBRAZIL BLUEBELLE: $22 Very good condition. She has a few small age spots/brown discolorations on her NDS, two above the neck seam, one on dorsal fin. Really nothing else, so even fewer discolorations than #1, just overall blotchiness from bathtub play. Her fin paint is better and brighter than #1. Some small rubs to dorsal fin paint, more wear to side fin paint. Eyes are good. Blush is faded. Neck joint is loose, but I haven’t opened her. Still has weight in her tail. No odors. I’m sure that those are NOT her original hair ribbons. Shoes and tights are in great condition. The dress had a little brown stain on the edge, but it came out. Velcro closure in back is great. Half of the ribbon tie in back is gone. It was caught in the velcro and frayed all to bits. It was a tangled mess, completely unsalvageable, so I just pulled it out of the velcro and cut it off. Molly’s face paint looks great. Her hair is nice, soft and uncut. It’s close to its original hairstyle, but a little messy. Baby Sundance has soft uncut hair with just a hint of its original curl left. No missing plugs. There’s a small purple dot below her NDS symbol. She has a little bit of eye rust, worse on the NDS eye. She has her bridle, and it would be in great condition except that the reins have been cut. Velcro closures are fine. Collectors used to call this pindot and feared that it would spread, but it has since been shown to be ground-in dirt, and not “contagious.” Some wear to symbols and eyes, but no bad rubs. Right eye a little rubbed, left eye has an even smaller rub. Symbols and freckles good. No real stains, just light playwear. Also has slight discoloration around toes and ear tips. LAST UNICORN LARGE POSEABLE PLUSH FROM GERMANY: $150 There are two sizes of the German Last Uni plush; this is the large one. She has a wire frame that makes her poseable so she can rear up if you can get her to balance. She's in great condition, nice and white with good seams, very clean. She has her cloth tush tag but no cardboard ear tag. Only flaw is that her hair is starting to pouf/frizz at the ends, though it's still very soft and shiny in the middle and top of the strands. visitors can't see pics , please register or login

A few figures have recently popped up on Ebay. The Snowbabies series of figurines (which I never paid much attention to before) has apparently done a crossover with MLP. They've released three different figures featuring their characters with Powder, Starshine, and Snuzzle. I'm not really a fan of the Snowbabies, but they look pretty well done. The ponies look really cute - especially Powder!

KPF'S FOR SALE/FOR TRADE: HIGHFLYING DREAM BEAUTY SKYFLIER: $75 Excellent condition, one of the best I’ve seen. Hair is smooth and uncut. Scattered marks that are all very small. Minor discolorations to sides; seams are good, not discolored. Small rubs to symbols and “points” (light blue paint on feet and muzzle); much less than you will usually find. Wings are great, not torn or bent. Eyes are good. SOLD TO GRAYSWANDIR visitors can't see pics , please register or loginBRAZIL STARSHINE: $75 Excellent condition. She displays beautifully, but does have some flaws if you look closely. Her only real mark is a blurry and fairly faint purple mark on her nose; at first it just looks like a shadow from her forelock. There’s a little bit of pink on her left hip, but it’s super faint, very hard to see. Note that her hair is naturally thin; she only has one row of plugs in her mane. Her hair is amazingly not frizzy, really great for a Brazil pony. Her mane is nearly perfect, no trims, no missing plugs, just a tiny bit dry on the ends. The bottom half of her tail looks thin and may have had a haircut; see pic. It’s also possible that this is due to factory unevenness; I’ve seen that in other Brazil rainbow ponies, where half of one color section is too long, and the other half is equally too short (I hope that makes sense). Either way, some parts of her tail definitely look short. Symbols are great with only slight wear. Eyes are good, some wear to one upper eyelash on right side. Blush is rubbed on both sides. There’s a little one on his right NDS near the neck seam, and a tiny spot of one under his left front hoof. Hair is very smooth, and pink streak is bright and unfaded. There’s a small bunch of about 10 individual hairs from his streak that are very short; they’ve ether been trimmed or have broken. Symbols are great; tiny, barely-there rub on DS one. Eyes are great. Blush is good, maybe slight wear. No empty plugs. Neck is sealed. No stains under feet. No odors. No tail rust. Does not rattle. Very soft and shiny, no empty plugs. No pen marks or anything, but does have spots of brown discoloration so typical of sea ponies. They’re mostly concentrated on her right NDS neck near the seam, above and a bit below it. There are a few other spots scattered around the rest of her body, but they’re pretty faint. Really, as far as those brown discolorations go, she’s in much better shape than most yr 3 sea ponies. Fin paint has some wear; dorsal fin looks quite good, but side fins are more worn. Eyes look good. Left DS blush has small rub; moderate rub to NDS blush. No yucky black mold on her hair roots. Neck is factory sealed, never opened. Still has weight in her tail. It could probably be fixed with flatironing, but I’m too chicken to try. No haircuts, no empty plugs. No pen marks except for a tiny dot near her DS tail. –Oh wait, there’s a little purplish mark between her NDS fins. She has a few small age spots/brown discolorations on her NDS, two above the neck seam, one on dorsal fin. Really nothing else, so even fewer discolorations than #1, just overall blotchiness from bathtub play. Her fin paint is better and brighter than #1. Some small rubs to dorsal fin paint, more wear to side fin paint. Eyes are good. Blush is faded. Neck joint is loose, but I haven’t opened her. Still has weight in her tail. SOLD TO JAMIE MOLLY & BABY SUNDANCE: $28 Excellent/VG condition. Molly has her dress, rainbow tights, and shoes. I’m sure that those are NOT her original hair ribbons. Shoes and tights are in great condition. The dress had a little brown stain on the edge, but it came out. Velcro closure in back is great. Half of the ribbon tie in back is gone. It was caught in the velcro and frayed all to bits. It was a tangled mess, completely unsalvageable, so I just pulled it out of the velcro and cut it off. Molly’s face paint looks great. Her hair is nice, soft and uncut. It’s close to its original hairstyle, but a little messy. Baby Sundance has soft uncut hair with just a hint of its original curl left. No missing plugs. There’s a small purple dot below her NDS symbol. She has a little bit of eye rust, worse on the NDS eye. She has her bridle, and it would be in great condition except that the reins have been cut. Glitter symbols are unrubbed and look good, but starting to get some glitter rust in a few places. Eyes and blush are great. Neck is sealed. No stains under feet. No odors. No tail rust. Can anyone confirm whether tracking is available to Denmark with first class US postage? I need to return a pony I bought from a Danish Ebay seller, and we'd both like to get tracking. I know the US post is a pain about tracking for first class international packages, and it's only available to some countries if you buy postage online. I found the list of counties that have available tracking, and Denmark is on it, but there's an asterisk indicating that tracking service was suspended in June of 2014.
