Customs / Wings to Share?
« on: April 17, 2013, 03:09:05 PM »
I was wondering if anyone had (or knows where to find) some wing vectors that they would be willing to share. Stuff like butterfly, dragonfly, cicada, or other bug wings that could be printed out on a transparency sheet. I found one place that sells the patterns, but it's kind of pricey. And I've found individual sheets for sale, but never in the exact size or style I'm looking for ^^;

Tiella had a lot of great ponies on her list, but I figured out pretty quickly who I wanted to couple for the swap. Salty was at the top of her list and the only boy so I picked him right away. And I paired him with Galaxy, because I thought, as a sailor, Salty would be able to fully appreciate her intuition (a talent of hers in the cartoon). Plus, sailors steer by the stars, heh. So it seemed like a perfect match.

Their baby, I decided, would inherit Salty's looks (body/eye colors + symbol) and Galaxy's magic (unicorn & TEs). Her hair is composed of all her parents' colors (Sugarberry, Hearthrob, Virgin Snow, Firebird and Wysteria).

Bowtie was made using one of the G4 fakies found on Taobao. She was a commission.

Has anyone else tried customizing one of these? I had the hardest time trying to get the original symbol completely off and eventually had to settle with covering it with the new one.

Customs / "Installing" TEs
« on: December 30, 2012, 04:28:24 PM »
I'd like to transition from just gluing my rhinestones onto the eyes of my TE customs to actually insetting them into the eye, but my attempts so far have been failures. Does anyone have tips on how to do it?

What kind of hole do you cut into the eye? Anyone not using a dremel? Because, unfortunately, I don't have one and am using an exacto knife >_<; The holes aren't the smoothest, but I'm trying to use apoxie sculpt to round things out.

Also, after cutting the hole, how do you keep the eye from falling through into the head? ^^;

Saja has shown a saintly level of patience waiting for this girlie, who should have been finished back in August.

Pony Corral / Please Show Me Lovebeam
« on: November 25, 2012, 10:08:21 AM »
Owners of Lovebeam, could you possibly take some pics of her for me? Especially facing her chest and rear so that I can see how her stripes wrap around her body. It's not quite clear with just pics of her display side and non-display side.

Thank you!!! :grouphug:

Off Topic / Less than a week until the new TMNT!!!!!
« on: September 23, 2012, 10:54:38 PM »
:frolic: :frolic: :frolic: :frolic: So excited!!!  I hope it is good.

They'd better treat my Donatello right! Already two strikes against him by giving him that tooth gap and the voice of my least fav turtle from the original show (Raphael). But hopefully I can get over it quickly so it won't affect my enjoyment too much. Sometimes he sounds dead on 80's Raph and others not so much. It'll be better if he changes the voice a bit once he's more comfortable with him.

I just about died of bliss when they worked a couple (short) Japanese phrases into one of the clips I saw. Even if Leo should have a better accent considering it's Splinter's first language (and therefore probably his first as well).  Ugh, I'm such a TMNT and Japanese language geek >_<XD

These two girls have no names as of yet, so Sternenstaub will need to do the honors :)

The butterfly on the yellow pony's nose was made from wire mesh and apoxie sculpt. The gazebo base is made of styrofoam, so it's pretty light.

This was my first time painting eyes from scratch, which was scary, but turned out all right, I think. Painting eyelashes are the bane of my existence though. Their eyes are sealed with Triple Thick; I love the effect it gives!

It was hard to photograph the gazebo--It looks much better in person IMHO. The photo also doesn't capture how the butterflies seem to fly about when the air stirs them.

I'm glad you like them, Sternenstaub! Hope it was worth the wait! :)

I'm looking for a few Dewdrop Dazzles for customizing purposes and am willing to trade MIB Trixie, Sunny Rays or Cherry Berry for her. Hair, eyes and symbols can be in poor shape, but I need her body to be in good shape (no major stains, bites, etc).

I just found this wonderful info that has made me so happy! :frolic:

(Make sure you're logged into Paypal before clicking on the link provided in this page)

Now even if someone pays for a pony with a gift transaction we can still get the Paypal rates and cheaper DC :frolic: :frolic:

Customs / Candy Swap Pony for Prismatic: Berry Bon
« on: July 30, 2012, 08:30:22 PM »
I think my Candy Swap pony is the first one to arrive. The pressure of going first... EEP! >_<  Heh heh. In any case, here is the pony that I've tentatively named Berry Bon:

She was tons of fun to make, but also a big challenge as it was my first attempt at trying to sculpt clothes (or anything major, for that matter). Trying to get the ruffles on her socks right was HARD! LOL. The body of her dress and her little strawberry hat were painted in metallics to imitate the foil wrappers of strawberry bon bon candies.  Oh, and it doesn't show well in the pictures, but her socks and sleeves are flocked. Her hair is a custom blend of DH Nutmeg, Pumpkin Spice, Satsuma and Cherry Pie.

I'm glad that she has found a happy home with Prismatic!

Off Topic / Bob Ross (The Joy of Painting) Autotuned
« on: July 29, 2012, 02:24:43 PM »
I had to share this video here because it made me at least as happy this week as finding the Crystal Empire ponies at my local Target

http://youtu.be/YLO7tCdBVrA

For those who don't know, Bob Ross had a show called The Joy of Painting where he would start with a blank canvas and create an entire painting before the viewers' eyes over the course of the show. He was a very positive dude and his shows were not only really neat, but also quite relaxing. This is an official video, commissioned by PBS, the station on which his show aired.

Pony Corral / Crystal Princess Ponies Collection (w/ Luna!)
« on: July 29, 2012, 11:29:15 AM »
Our first official chance to buy the 4" Luna is found on Target.com:

http://www.target.com/p/my-little-pony-crystal-princess/-/A-14095646#?lnk=sc_qi_detailbutton

The DPCI# is 086-02-0822
Right now it seems to be website exclusive--none of the stores have it yet. But it is in stock right now online.

I know people will be disappointed that it seems to be yet another Target exclusive. Hopefully the Luna will turn up in another, non-exclusive, set.
