Well, as my fellow Canucks know, the Canadian dollar is really terrible right now. It's hard for me to justify buying ponies when it's 0.70 to the USD. I've been making an effort to sell or trade what I can, and buy locally when possible. A few weeks ago, I came across a really neat lot on Kijiji. When I started collecting, I used to buy in lots, and most of what I got was new to me. At this point, that's almost impossible. It's been about 7 years since I was able to buy a lot and get a bunch of new ponies at once for my collection =) These are 2 of the pics from the listing I found visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginI won't bother uploading all 10 pics, but there were UK ponies in this massive lot! It's hard to make out anything, but I could tell who they were from the colour combinations (my family finds that scary, but that's normal around here, right?) There were 71 regular ponies, not counting the McD's ponies and fakies, which worked out to about $2.40 per pony. The only problem was that it was in Quebec City, about 5 hours away by car, and the seller didn't want to ship them. Just by luck, my mom's BFF happens to have family in Quebec city, and was about to go for a visit, so she picked them up for me  They all used to think my collection was weird, but they've come around. Hi all, I've acquired a second Rockin' Beats Half Note, and she's a different colour than my original. The lighter one is my original, and is more opaque and shinier. The darker one is slightly more translucent and matte. She came with a local lot, but it had several UK ponies in it. So, is she a UK version? Is it a batch difference or plasticizer leak? Can I get a rough price check on these G3s please? I'd like to price them to sell quickly, if possible. I bought this lot locally for bait, but they all cleaned up WAY too nicely. I was thinking $3 each, or 4 for $10. Does that sound reasonable? They are all in really great condition, with nice hair and no marks (with the exception of summer bloom, who has a pinkish stain on her face. I would put her at $1.) I'm so out of touch with G3 prices. It's been ages since I've had time to make non-swap related customs. This lady has been sitting on my WiP shelf for at least 2 years, and I'm finally going to finish her this week. I found some in stores yesterday, a year after they were released, and I'm wondering if I should try to hunt for more. I finally got Applejack for myself, whom I could never find last year at all, plus I bought one of each for arena members. visitors can't see pics , please register or login After taxes and shipping materials, they would be $30 plus actual shipping cost. So I decided to try me first Perfume Puff rehair. I've seen different methods, but the one thing everyone seems to say is that you need acrylic yarn. I didn't know if this is going to work out, so before I went out to buy 4 colours of yarn at $9 each, I figured I'd buy one (ball? skein? I don't even know what it's called, lol) in white, and dye it a couple of different shades to try it out.
Now that I have it home, the tutorials I've found on dyeing all say that you can't use rite dye, which was my plan, because the yarn is plastic and it won't hold dye. Has anyone tried this? I'm wondering if it will dye it well enough if all I want are pastels and I don't plan to wash it. The popular method seems to be using diluted acrylic paint to 'dye' it, but I sort of doubt I will be able to fluff it up again afterwards.

I bought a local lot of mostly pony stuff because FS AJ was in it. It was a pretty big lot, and I've got most of it sorted (or did, until the kids found it). Well, mostly restoring...I'm not going to try to re-flock her  I did deflocked and rehaired her though. Before you say anything, I know she's HTF (I'm still searching for a minty one myself), but I didn't take deflocking her lightly. She came to me in a bait lot, and she was in REALLY bad shape. She was on her side because she couldn't stand, her head was already mostly flocking free, she was bald and grungy all over. Here's the before shot ( I had just started deflocking around the symbol and back leg); visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAnd here she is now; visitors can't see pics , please register or loginShe was supposed to be for sale, but I'm really falling for her. She turned out so nicely, I might keep her around, lol. All I had to use to deflock her was boiling water and a kitchen scrubber. I tried to deflock 2 others, both in bad shape, that have been kicking around since then, and they aren't nearly so easy! I think I'm going to have to wait until I have my baby, and then break out the chemicals

I was wondering if the snowglobe ponies, Fashion Style Applejack and Daisy Dreams, and or Hollydash have appeared in stores yet, and where they have been found. She asked if there are any ponies to look for there, but I don't want to send her on a hopeless mission.

ETA; I was back at the same Loblaws today, in Ottawa, and they now have the Shinning Armour and Cadence Fashion Style 2 pack (target exclusive in the States, I think). Yesssssssssssss! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A bit of an odd find in Loblaws (Ottawa). Diamond Rose and Sweet Song Glimmer Wings, US target exclusives from 2012 or 2013, and 2 rainbow power sets I haven't seen yet. One was a rainbow train with fluttershy, with blue and green in her hair, and the other was a spa set, with Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Star Dreams. This is the first I've seen of Star Dreams in Canada (not sure if the sleepover set ever got released anywhere here). The glimmer's were $16.99  , (pretty pricy for one new pony) and I didn't get to check the other sets.
