Pony Brag Arena / I found myself being mom to 4 herd members today
« on: July 16, 2018, 09:56:21 PM »
Omg, why can't I have self control?! I did some rush errands to the closest thrift store that I hadn't checked in a search for shorts, and wound up with more herd members. I wound up getting Amberlocks, Scooter Sprite, Fluttershy, and a fakie. Wound up leaving Lily Lightly (with her dress) and a freakier looking fakie behind.

After their spa session, I wanted to do a photoshoot with a full meet n greet story with my other horse babies (like this one http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,391776.0.html) but halfway into taking the pics, I just lost motivation to bother with a story, since the last 40-ish page  meet n greet with ponies and Care Bears wasn't appreciated.

Anway, I digress. Have some pics!

Pony Brag Arena / Photo fabulous Pinkie's
« on: July 15, 2018, 01:32:54 AM »
Gave two of my mirror pool Pinkies a spa day, and love them even more with their funky fresh new do's! I call the dressed one "Sassy Styles", and the nude one "Punky Perm". XD

I wasn't too happy with one of my Pinkie's do's, so I took her back to the salon and tried again! Really loving her new do!

Hasbro dun goofed, imo, releasing a SDCC exclusive pack of ponies for the 35th anniversary, but putting the same faces of g4 toys in there in 80's clothing- Twilight, Dash, and Pinks. I made a comment on the boards of Equestria Daily,  expressing my confusion and disappointment about this and the fact that they weren't Kanto....I mean, g1 re-releases, but some dingus replied back that "oh, weren't there g1 releases already?" and honestly, this made me a little sour. Bruh, really? We got 6 limited edition ponies from g1. How many rehashed g4 mane 6 do we get, again?

Is it wrong of me to expect more g1 throwbacks from Hasbro in their 35th anniversary? Is Hasbro failing to capitalize on nostalgia for the older MLP fans by not releasing more than what they have?

Off Topic / Man at Target teaching good morals
« on: July 12, 2018, 04:25:25 PM »
I happened to be out running errands at Target, today, and while I was waiting for someone at Starbucks to get out of the bathroom, this black guy walks up with two little boys. He very loudly and clearly instructs the boys to ask the cashier "may I PLEASE have a cup of water"? After they got their water, he instructed them on saying "Thank you." (and these were boys that should've known better at their age, mind you- they looked around 6-8) This immediately grabbed my attention, because so many don't instruct their kids on basic manners, and  good values and morals are in a constant decline nowadays. I was so impressed, that I had to commend him for doing so, even though I'm petrified at social interaction irl. What's more, when they left the Starbucks cafe and went back into the Target store, another customer was on their way out with their basket, and the guy gently pushed the boys aside and instructed them on saying "excuse me" to the other customers. Dude did a good job.

Pony Brag Arena / Thrift Haul- Lotta g4 pones!
« on: July 11, 2018, 08:54:15 PM »
I had gone to the thrift store today, hoping to find some non g4's (I have way too many!), or at least the g4's that I found earlier in the week (one being Dewdrop Dazzle. and the other being Ploomette (I think. I forgot what she looked like))

Instead, I found a whoooole lottta g4's- Mc Donald's toys and blindbags, mostly. Lotta fakies, too. I managed to settle on a bag that had two 6 inch Fashion Boutique Pinkie Pies- one with a pink/ black/ white streaked mane and tri-colored glitter cutie mark, and the other with her normal mane and a pink/black/ white cutie mark. Also, a pink fakie that I have no idea what to do with.

Characters that appear in the g4 tv show don't get toys/ collectables. Moondancer, Double Diamond, Night Glider, Party Favor, Sugar Belle, Bright Mac, Pear Butter, Starswirl the Bearded, Somnambula, Stygian, Flash Magnus, Rockhoof, Mage Meadowbrook, Limestone Pie, Marble Pie, Zephyr Breeze, Mr and Mrs Shy, Windy Whistles, Inky Rose, Screwball, Bulk Biceps, Button Mash, Featherweight and more have NEVER had a single toy made of them, to date. And yet, really obscure background fodder ponies like Pretzel, Pursey Pink, Flower Wishes, Lemony Gem, and Buttonbelle continue to get toys made of them.

Surely, there could be a LOT more diversity with these added characters, than the officially licensed toys/ collectables that we're given- featuring the same gimmicky mane 6 and Princesses. It's so disappointing that the pattern has changed so drastically from the g1 super diverse cast releases; when collecting of many different characters was actually required.

Pony Corral / How would Hasbro handle Queens?
« on: July 02, 2018, 08:52:46 PM »
I vaguely recall that at some point, Queen Majesty was referred to as male (maybe it was an AU on Tumblr?) I don't have the greatest memory, but it was brought to mind after watching a "queen" on So You Think You Can Dance pull off a rather some rather fabulous choreography. Do you guys think Hasbro would be willing- and able- to pull off having a "Queen" as its focus in a new royalty-centric lineup, whether in g4 or the next generation's toyline or animated series?

Pony Corral / Mimic and Mimickers. Headcanons?
« on: June 28, 2018, 11:15:59 PM »
I'm interested in knowing if you guys might have any theories or headcanons on the g1 pony, Mimic (who is said to have been a descendant from a unicorn who was from the land of Argyte/ Argite in "The Golden Horseshoes", and the g4 comic-exclusive creature, the Greater Equestrian Mimicker (IDW comic Micro-Series #7), who is said to be like the MLP:FiM Changelings, by way of abilities, but ponies is the only thing the Mimicker cannot shapeshift into, apparently.
Are these two connected in a way that is far deeper than name similarities? What do you guys think?

Pony Corral / Mlp 50th anniversary fan project ideas!
« on: June 04, 2018, 10:22:48 PM »
With the MLP fanchise having reached the ripe age of 35 (36, technically), recently, I figure now is as good a time as ever to start getting ideas from the g1- 3 community as to what you guys would want to see done as far as future fan projects to comemmorate the big 50th anniversary for the brand, in the years to come.

I know fanprojects (in the sense of large scale animations, fandubs, etc.) aren't done by older fans, but ideas are appreciated. No one will be recruited to help, as it will more than likely be a solo project. I will take any ideas, in hopes of doing them justice.

Pony Corral / Pony theories and headcanons?

Rather than talking too much and making a fool of myself, I'll simply ask a straightfoward question to anyone who desires to answer: what are some of your pony headcanons and theories? (all generations accepted)

Pony Brag Arena / Hobo horse babus in their new home
« on: May 29, 2018, 05:07:40 PM »
I found and rescued 3 very messy hobo horses from Savers thrift store, recently. Jade Garden, Aloha Pearl, and Bellaluna are all g3 ponies. They were so dirty, with grime of unknown origin, and marker on them, poor girls. Fortunately, after they had a spa treatment, they- sand Belle- were ready to be introduced to some of the rest of my herd.

(Meet 'n Greet story below)

Spoiler
While Bellaluna had decided to get a late start at the local spa, in spite of Jade Garden and Aloha Pearl's exasperation and confusion as to why she hadn't scheduled to go when they had, the two left Bella to her own devices and began to explore their new home.

Fortunately, their leisurely walk was brief. "Hello there!" A friendly voice called out from overhead. Both Aloha and Jade raised their heads just in time to witness a pure white pegasus pony flutter from upon a puffy white cloud, to land gracefully in front of them. "Greetings. I haven't seen you two around here before." The winged pony spoke with a tender smile.

Aloha nodded, extending her hoof. Behind the cheerful pegasus, she could see a few mares begin to gather behind her, each with curious and excited gazes. "I'm Aloha Pearl, and this is my friend Jade Garden." She spoke, mirroring the warmth in her tone that the pegasus had. Jade also offered her hoof, out of courtesy.

"My name is Star Catcher," the tri-haired pony hummed, shaking each hoof. "And these are my friends, Sunny Daze, Toola Roola, Periwinkle, and Wondermint."

"ALOHA, fellow ponies!!!" Aloha Pearl bubbled, enthusiastically., causing the shyest of the bunch, Toola Roola, to shrink back.

"Oh dear." Aloha groaned. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."

With a few encouraging nuzzles and whinnies, the multicolored mares slowly drew Toola out of her shell enough to nod appreciatively before muttering a quiet greeting in reply.

"She's alright. She just doesn't get out of her art studio very much." Star Catcher explained. "Come! There are many other ponies you've yet to meet. Her wings flapped, lifting her easily off of the ground until she was once again fluttering overhead.

"See you later!" Jade called to the mares. "Alohaaa!" Aloha waved, and both followed Star Catcher to meet more pony pals.

Before too long, the pegasus dropped down in a lush, green garden, light as a feather. A hoof gestured toward a pony whose back was turned toward them. She seemed occupied with munching on tender grasses and blooms behind a white picked fence. Jade and Aloha exchanged glances, then cleared their throats, hoping to get the stranger's attention.

The sound caused the stranger to give pause, then look behind her. Her muzzle bore bits of flower petals annd blades of grass. "Whoa!" She hollered, rearing upon her hind legs. "Don't sneak up on me like that! I was just....um..." she stammered, glancing nervously to Star Catcher.

"Eating my garden again?" The pegasus pouted. "Honestly, Lightheart, you're just as bad as Cotton Candy! Don't you have any self control?"

Lightheart only rolled her eyes. "Chill, Star. They'll grow back."

Star Catcher took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, hoping the breathing technique would supress her agitation. "Anyway, we have some new ponies in town. These are Aloha Pearl and Jade Garden."

"Aloha!"

"Hiya!"

Lightheart bounded forward, encasing the strangers in a big hug! "Oooh, I love new friends! You two are gong to love it here!"

Jade laughed as she and her friend were released. "I don't doubt it!"

Star Catcher drifted forward in the air. "Come, you two. There are still many ponies to meet."

They had to trot in order to keep pace with the pegasi. Whoever she wanted them to meet must've been special, they decided. Down one boulevard and up another, past spacious parks and playgrounds, until finally, they arrived at the steps of a retirement home for seniors. Star Catcher strolled in, greeting the receptionist, and invited the others to follow.

"Grandmare Milky Way," she spoke, her voice dropping an octave. "Is one of our oldest residents here. She's looked up to by everyone, even the Princesses." She turned into a room that read "activity room", and smiled at an aged pink pony with a greying mane.

"Oh my stars," Milky Way gasped. "Star Catcher, is that you, child? These eyes aren't what they used to be, but I know that voice anywhere."

"It is." Star confirmed. "And I brought some friends to visit. They're new here, Grandmare Milky."

"Oh, how wonderful!"

Aloha and Jade drew close, extending their hooves as Milky Way reached out with hers. "Aloha, Grandmare. I'm Aloha Pearl."

"And I'm Jade Garden!"

"It's so nice to meet the both of you. Please, sit. Tell me how you two came to move here. Where are you from, and how do you know Star Catcher?"

Signalling for them to keep quiet, the pegasi began to back away to the door. "I'm sure that they have plenty of stories for you, Grandmare Milky, but if we're going to Introduce them to the Princess as she's making her rounds, we really must be on our way. Perhaps another time..."

"Well, don't let me stop you, dearies. I know firsthoof how hard it it to get an audience with royalty. Off with you now." The mare chuckled. "Be sure and stop by to visit soon."

"We will"" Jade called, as Starcatcher practically pushed them out the door.

It was only a five minute gallop to their next destination; a wide open square where many other ponies were gathered, to greet and observe the royals who descended from on high to mingle with the common folk.

"Step back! Give her Highness some space! " an armored guard called out.

"That's Princess Cel-" Star Catcher paused, swallowing her words as she observed a most unexpected mare in the midst of the crowd. Her flowing mane of a darker hue and glittering with stardust and shifting, silvery sleeping sand; her statue shorter...no, this was most definitely not Princess Celestia, but rather, her younger sister, Princess Luna! "Well now," Star arched an eyebrow at the unusual sight of the Sandmare about during daylight hours, along with her pupil and protégé, Sunset Shimmer. "This is quite a treat. It isn't very often that we get to see Princess Luna beyond the realm of dreams."

She, Jade, and Aloha bowed deeply as the Alicorn approached, head held high. "Good day, Your Majesty." The three spoke in unison.

Luna observed the trio, nodding her approval, before passing on. Appointments must be kept, if she were to fulfill Celestia's schedule while her sister was tending to matters more dire elsewhere. Smalltalk with common ponies was most certainly not on the agenda.

Star Catcher tapped her new friends, urging them onward after the Princess' procession had passed. "There are still more ponies to meet!"

Eventually, they came to a park where a group of happy ponies were playing and laughing. Star Catcher drifted right up to them, with Aloha and Jade close behind. You guys, meet Scootaloo, Daisyjo, Wisteria, Minty, Rainbow Dash, Star Song, and Desert Rose. They're good friends of mine. Friends, meet Jade Garden and Aloha Pearl!"

A round of friendly greeting and hugs were exhanged, but the two newcomers were begining to feel tired, after being dragged around town. Aloha plopped own on her haunches, needing to catch her breath. Jade chose to lie down on her stomach and stretch out. After a long day of running about, they thought that anther trip to the spa would be in order. Perhaps Bellaluna would be ready by the time they arrived there to pick her up. She would certainly be in for a surprise, meeting all these new ponies, just as they had!

Pony Corral / UO- Pony princess education- Wisteria vs Twilight Sparkle
« on: February 16, 2018, 07:57:58 AM »
Unpopular Opinions. No matter what, something is going to be considered unpopular or unsavory by someone else. Can't please everyone!

My unpopular opinion topic today is the cartoons of g3 and g4. Some love it them both, some hate both, some love one and hate the other. Some could care less either way.  For those that have beef with MLP g3 and its cartoon, my unpopular opinion is that it it has its advantages when compared to generation 4. Primarily loking at "The Princess Promenade" .

For example, in “The Princess Promenade”, in mere moments of a single song (and a few lines after), g3 Spike teaches a Princess named Wisteria much more than Celestia has taught Twilight to benefit herself as a Princess. While g3 Spike appears to be strict in witholding certain actions from Princess Wisteria, such as “sniffing”, “digging in the dirt”, “never raising her voice”, we can determine, from his line “don’t forget the world is looking up to you.”, that he means the best by reminding her that her actions reflect upon her.

Contrasting this, G4’s Princess Twilight, even after many seasons of being a Princess, has yet to learn this basic lesson. Even after nearly starting a war with the yak nation and jeopardizing political relations of peace and open borders with Equestria, Twilight continues to muddy the water and besmirch her title as a Princess by not taking the advice of her closest friends, in spite of being sent together on a friendship mission in “The Hoofields and McColts”, stealing a valuable artifact of the Seapony/Hippogriffs that could’ve started a war between Seaquestria and Equestria in the “MLP movie”, and working herself to exhaustion, in “Princess Spike”, to name just a few.

In fact, further contrasting this, g3 Spike issued the Princess ladies in waiting, so that she could delegate tasks, and lectured her on getting a good night’s sleep, in order to be in peak mental and physical condition, because again, she was being looked up to now, and had an example to set for others.

Had Twilight ever learned to more carefully consider her actions and image, knowing that an entire nation and neighboring allies most likely look up to her, due to her status, then she would be a much better and more responsible and respectable Princess.

But that's just my unpopular opinion. A PONY unpopular opinion.
