Hey pony friends!

A while back someone posted awesome photos that were great quality and clearly showed the difference between the 'crystal' Wave 7 and the 'neon' Wave 8 Mane 6 blind bag figures. But I've been searching like crazy and I can't find the post... I don't even remember when I saw it, just that it was a while back.

If anyone remembers, can you link the post here or repost the photos? I'm trying to find out how different they are to see if I really need to collect the Mane 6 from both waves.

Thanks for checking into this thread! Firstly, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread. Mods, please feel free to move this to Off Topic if it is needed. I've seen non-pony art in this thread before, so I thought here would be the best place to look for an artist.

I am posting this because I know there's a LOT of talented artists here on MLPArena, and right now I'm a member of a group that is looking for the services of one.

A small group of local writers in my area has come together with a goal of publishing a series of anthologies of sci fi and fantasy short stories called Scribings. I've joined them in time for publishing vol. 3, which has the theme of 'metamorphosis.' The stories in this volume all deal with themes of change and transformation. Whether it be a stone gargoyle in present-day France who comes to life to protect a church from an old evil, or a gymnast who cheats her way into the Olympics in the future with a program that allows her to see footage from nearby video cameras in her mind.

For volumes 1 and 2 the writers themselves put together the covers for the volumes, but now with volume 3, we're trying to find cover art by a 'real artist.' Rather than, you know, "Here's a cool photo I took, let's put it in Photoshop and add some effects and a title." ;

Volumes 1 and 2 were mostly only in e-book form. Volume 3 will still be mostly available as an e-book, but we'll be doing a small print run of physical copies as well. The e-book will most likely be priced at $2.99, and the printed copy somewhere around $6-8 each.

Now, on to the subject of payment... first let me say we are all very poor broke writers. ^_^;; Almost all the money made from the sales of the book goes right back into marketing to get the word out that the book exists, and to pay for the physical copies to be printed. We are hoping to find someone who might be interested in donating their talent in exchange for having their art be on the cover of our book, rather than a royalty payment. You would be acknowledged on the copyright page and I'll make sure you get at least one free copy of the physical book.

If this sounds like it might be an interesting project for you, please let me know! I'll be happy to pass along the specs we'd need the art to be (it has to be a very high res image in order to print correctly, for example, and has to be a certain size to fit on front cover and back cover and spine) and to talk more about what we're looking for cover art (basically an image that works with the anthology theme, metamorphosis, and also might work with some of the short stories in the book).

Our group meets every other Tuesday night for now. We're discussing changing it to a weekly meeting, but for now it's bi-weekly. If anyone is interested in making some preliminary sketches of your ideas, I'd be happy to bring them along to the next meeting (April 8 ) and show them to the other writers.

PS: I am not the 'head of the cover art' department or anything like that, lol, we're all looking for potential cover art on our own and we'll bring it to a vote at a future meeting. So I can't promise anyone that their piece will be used, but I am hoping to find a nice piece for our book.

I was passing by a Target on Sunday so I stopped to check out the pony aisle of course. Nothing new at all, they still had the wave of Lyra/Trixie/etc. brushables and the Wave 4 blind bags and the tiny plushies, all that stuff. Then I looked at the row of Fashion Styles and to my surprise, Rarity was the first one there!

Is this new? I don't collect the FS ponies but I remember Rarity and Applejack were quite rare since they were only released in the very first wave and a bunch of people didn't get them. The Rarity I saw had the exact same accessories as the first wave one. The other FS's in the row were Pinkie Pie, Princess Luna (only time I've ever seen her outside of Walmart) and Twilight Sparkle. There was only one Rarity.

I know all the Mane 6 were supposed to be released again as FS, so maybe this is her turning up now?

As if I don't have enough on my plate right now between working full-time and trying to do NaNoWriMo this month, I've taken on the duties of translating a Finnish webcomic into English. Why? Because it's an amazing comic and I'm dying to know the story behind the awesome pictures!

The Finnish artist started this comic in 2004 and ended it in 2011. She has had some people over the years translating a page or two and she puts them up on her DA page, but I am determined to get through the whole 200 pages of comic so I can finally find out what's happening in the story lol.

I was a bit daunted when I first started translating, but I've done about 20 pages now and found I don't have as much trouble as I thought I would. And now I want to proudly show off my hard work to my Arena friends, hee hee!

(And nope, I don't speak Finnish. I use several online translator sites together to do the translations, and that is usually good enough for me to understand what's being said maybe 75% of the time. The other 25% of the time I look up the Finnish word using several online dictionaries, or type the Finnish word into google and study the pages that come up, to try to figure out what the word means.)


The story takes place in a world where civilized packs of dog live on their own in the wilderness, alongside several large predatory reptile species--some more hostile than others. It's a very cool story that takes influence from Jurassic Park and Ginga Legend Gin (a Japanese anime/manga story about dogs).

This is a weird question... 

So, we all know that some people have a lot of success getting pen marks on ponies to fade by leaving them in the sun. My question is... has anyone tried fading anything else on purpose?

I buy a ton of childrens books on ebay and half of them have the kid's name written in pen on the first page or inside front cover. I was wondering... if I leave the book open in the bright sunlight, and carefully cover everything except the name written in pen, do you think it would fade?

I know paper is not the same as plastic, but it's a shame when I get a book in great condition and a name written in pen is the only flaw. If anyone has any advice on getting pen off paper, please share! Thanks!

So there's some Chinese sellers on ebay selling some MLP merchandise that is not official... cosplay MLP wigs.

I was already suspicious because this one seller has a bunch of the same wig for sale all for different BIN prices, but conveniently the shipping makes them all the same price... Like they have one wig BIN for $25 with free shipping, and the same wig for BIN for $15 with $10 shipping, and one for $20 with $5 shipping, etc etc.

But they had one of the wigs up for regular auction for 99 cents rather than a BIN, so I made a high bid, told myself I wouldn't pay any more than that, and waited. The auction ended tonight and earlier today I found a bidder had pushed my auction all the way up to $13.50, with the $10 shipping... so pretty much it's almost $25. Suspicious, I checked that bidders history and it says this auction is the only auction they've bid on in the past 30 days. Ebay doesn't give you any more information than that, but I suspect this seller had a shill bidder to push the auction up. How annoying!

Oh well, at least I got the wig for $23.50 instead of $25. But still I am annoyed. >.<

Soooo this is a non-pony issue, but everyone here is so helpful and has so much experience with ebay, I figure you can tell me if this is common or not.

I bid on a 1 cent book auction (shipping $3, no big deal) that still had 5 days to go. This morning I saw the seller sent me a message over ebay that just says THANKS FOR THE ORDER. And my My eBay page is telling me to pay the $3.01. So..... it looks like he closed the auction early and gave me the book without waiting to see if there's any other bids? o.0

I don't have any issue with paying immediately, but is it legal to end your auction early if only one person has bid? Just seems weird to me...

And what's even weirder, he already left me positive feedback! I haven't even paid yet. o.0

But he has a 100% positive rating. I am guessing this is just how he does business on ebay, but it's just weird to me so I was wondering if this is common or not. Never happened to me before, but I don't go on ebay much.
