Hello there, darling. Rarity here for Main n' Tail. Next time you find your glorious coiffure dry, raggy, tangled or just plain grotty, consider your present hair conditioner... and whether it leaves your mane and tail as luscious as you wish it would! Trust me, darling. It is the best... thing... ever!

... yeah, I found this on sale and had a giggle. Couldn't help picking it up for my pony grooming!

It's cold out here in Wisconsin, and all the ponies look so cold with no clothes on! Let's see some girls (and boys?) in some cozy fineries, please?

MLP Nirvana / Price check on Posey nirvanas?
« on: January 23, 2013, 05:31:02 PM »
So, I just got my first international posey-- the variation with blue eyes, and I'm absolutely in love with her. I can't afford to buy a lot of nirvanas, but I love Posey enough that I'd like to try to collect as many different ones as I can get my hands on, including Baby Posey. What will the various Poseys run me? I'm especially interested in Baby Posey, CP Posey, the Venezuelan green, and (holds breath) Italian blue.

How much will the various Posey nirvanas set me back, if I even ever get the opportunity to lay hands on one?

Pony Corral / Restoring Twinkle Eyes with nail polish (pic heavy)
« on: January 10, 2013, 12:01:51 PM »
So, I've got a somewhat baity Masquerade-- age spots and the top of her head needs rehairing due to an embarrassing haircut. Also, she has no shininess on her eyes at all. I figured that she would be a good subject for a little experiment. I tried painting on a layer of iridescent nail polish. Specifically I used Sally Hansen Nail Prisms "South Sea Pearl" and I'd say it looks fairly nice. Here's my result, as compared to a TE pony with very good shine on their eyes:

It looks slightly cloudy, but it does seem to be an improvement from the blank stare of a TE that has lost her twinkle. Here she is next to Locket's nearly perfect TEs for comparison.

Probably you might not want to paint nail polish on the eyes of ponies who are otherwise in very good condition, but this seems to work fairly well for a restoration of a pony with a lot of issues.

I decided to try it out on another pony with similar issues-- Fizzy, who also has age spots and has been partially rehaired. This time, I took the trouble to take "before" pictures of her blank eyes.

Pony Brag Arena / Candy Cane and Sundae Best complete sets! Yay!
« on: January 05, 2013, 04:21:04 PM »
I recently completed two of my favorite G1 sets, the Candy Cane and Sundae Best ponies. It was a bit slow since a couple of them are a little harder to come by, and I wanted to wait until I could get a good deal for them, but they're finally all mine! After a bit of patience and tenacity, I was at last able to unite these girls together!

Candy Canes! I think my favorite is Caramel Crunch, but that's a really hard decision. I love them all!

Sundae Best! I think Coco Berry is the one I love best, but they're all so lovely. I have a soft spot for Banana Surprise too.

Now I want to make Princess Sparkle a sequined lab coat and glittery nerd glasses.

Pony Corral / Lil Pocket restoration
« on: November 09, 2012, 01:00:38 PM »
So, I've got a poor Lil Pocket with a lot of issues. She has a missing tail, a crack running down her rear from her tail hole, and none of the plastic bits on her symbols! But she's so sweet, I'm sworn to fixing her up.

First issue: I bought the hair color which is supposed to be the blue streak and her tail, but when I got it, it seems a bit bluer and darker than the blue-green streak in her hair. If you guys like, I can show a picture comparing the two.

How would you guys recommend I try to reconstruct her symbols? I thought that Sculpey or Model Magic might be okay, and rather than glue something on to her, I thought I might make it wearable like a saddle by attaching a curved bit that would fit over her back... if that makes sense.

Anyone ever restored a Precious Pocket pony before and have some advice? And, does anyone have a close up of Lil Pocket's complete symbol for me to work from? Thanks! :)

Pony Corral / Cleaning ceramic figures?
« on: October 12, 2012, 05:46:13 PM »
So, it made my night when I found the "Wishing Well" MLP ceramic statue at Savers tonight! I've been hoping against hope that I'd encounter one in a thrift store but wasn't getting my hopes up.

So, my question is: It's rather dusty and slightly dingy. Do I need to be careful about how I clean it?

Pony Corral / Ponies invade my wedding!
« on: September 24, 2012, 08:26:56 PM »
So, I posted some photos of this weekend's wonderful wedding, in which I finally married the love of my life, Miles.

But I had a few extras that I thought you guys might like... it seems that ponies have invaded every aspect of my life, even a wedding celebration with family!

My sister took this in a whirlwind of artistic picture taking before dinner!

Later, we played Balderdash, but realized we only had two of the original pieces on hand. Thankfully, I did have a box of toys nearby, and everyone quickly laid claim to their characters of choice. Here is what our game board looked like!

Off Topic / Wedding pictures! (very pic heavy!)
« on: September 24, 2012, 08:20:13 PM »
So, this past weekend I got married to Miles, my wonderful fiance. We've been together for several years in a long distance relationship after having met on the Internet ten years ago! He's visited me lots of times... and I've been to England to see him and his family twice, and now he's at last come to live with me, so I don't think I could be happier!

Anyway, some people have asked me to post a few wedding pictures, so here are a few of my favorites from our little private ceremony (we're having a bigger party next year when more people can come!).

Pony Brag Arena / Kindness brag!
« on: September 23, 2012, 05:54:16 PM »
So, my sister's husband's sister (my sister in law?) gave me the remainder of her childhood herd (plus a few more childhood treasures) this weekend the weekend of my wedding, and I've finally gotten home to take pictures of everything. I'm blown away by her kindness in giving this all to me-- and the contents of the magical box I received!

Sea Winkle (with a shell!), Sweet Stuff, some Moondreamers goodness, a Bright Heart Raccoon toy, a few ribbons and a comb and other knick knacks...

Truly (with a stand!), Lofty, baby Sundance and Molly, and an absolutely gorgeous Hippity Hop!

Her hair is BRIGHT pink and her flocking is nearly flawless! I can't get over how gorgeous she is! :D I'm thinking of offering to take my sister in law out to lunch sometime, because this is unbelievable. <3

Customs / How to add wings to a Flutter mold without wing slots?
« on: August 25, 2012, 03:32:26 PM »
So for the custom pony I'm making for my swap partner, I bought a bait Flutter that had already been started. Somehow I didn't notice that she'd have her wing area completely removed and filled in. It looks great, but I really would like to give this girl some wings.

The wings I plan on doing will be made of the type of thin plastic from a 2 liter soda bottle and will be in the shape of leaves. If you'd like to have a look at her (she's nearly done apart from the wings) I suppose I could post a pic, but since it will be a surprise to someone here, I'm reluctant to do so.

Pony Corral / Wedding themed ponies!
« on: August 25, 2012, 07:55:41 AM »
So... a bit of joyful news, my wedding date has been set for next month! I'd like to say I've only got wedding fever just now, but I've been afflicted for much longer than that! Since my fiance is moving from England, we're having a simple courthouse marriage next month, with a larger party next year so his friends and family in England can save up for plane tickets.

Over this next year I'd like to get my hands on all the wedding ponies, even though a couple of them will be a bit of a tall order. I have one of the G1 pony brides (I know there are two versions that look similar) and of course Cadance and Shining Armor.

Besides the other nameless bride pony, I know of Satin n Lace and Tux n Tails, but there must be a few more... wasn't there a G2 wedding pony?

Pony Corral / Deflock or no?
« on: August 07, 2012, 04:57:41 PM »
Okay, so recently I bought a "bait box" of ponies, and in them were SS Cherries Jubilee and Hippity Hop.

Cherries' flocking is really flat and matted in places, and there's blue marker on some areas of it. It's pretty worn, especially around her face.

Hippity Hop is really worn down in the usual places, especially the hooves and ears. It's also become opaque, especially on her face and around her symbols.

Here's the kicker: I've had SS Twilight for a little while, and the glue on her flocking has become yellowed, so she looks a grayish-yellow. Rubbing to the flocking isn't that bad, but I can't help but feel she'd look so much lovelier without all that yellowed flocking. What do you think?

Customs / Sold out dollyhair colors?
« on: August 02, 2012, 05:41:12 PM »
So, I've got a big bait box o' ponies that I'm working on restoring for fun, but I'm finding, very unpleasantly, that some of the colors I need (at the moment, Yellow Fever and Wisteria) are sold out.

Not having done much rehairing, I'm wondering: do these ever come back in stock? Are there any possible alternatives? (Or, does anyone have either of these colors?)

I'm not sure if this would be better posted in the customs forum of not... if that's deemed to be the case, sorry about that. >.<
