Customs / UPDATE 2/7/12 Snowy Owl (Save the ponies WIP) *Pics*
« on: February 04, 2012, 09:44:56 AM »
These are a few WIP of my pony for the Save The Ponies competition. The little fellow started out as a blue Walgreen's fakie with creepy plastic eyes.

The legs were odd looking and I disliked the nose...so I fixed it ^.^

Thats all for now. Hope you enjoy it. I sculpted him with fimo soft and it took about 10 bakings and ...12 hours of sculpting? Something like. Now I just have to paint him O.O

Paint job done! Broke down and picked up an air compressor for my airbrush. I loves it. I had too many ideas for this guy that could not be achieved with a brush. That and all those nooks and crannies...it made me cry. Anyway he has 2 tones of white, a gray gradient on the tips of his wings, tail feathers and nose. He has black marks and silver details. Already sealed...just waiting on hair and need to sculpt a few extras. Oh and add some bling as my mum calls it.

Arts & Crafts Corral / My little me
« on: February 03, 2012, 07:30:55 AM »
So I was talking with a friend and he was trying to modify an oc to be more like him. It got me thinking. I have an OC, Ferret Shock and while she was inspired by things I enjoy, she is just a fun lil character.

Then I decided to make one that was more ... me..litterally.

Breakdown of the donkey whom I have dubbed Howto. I am short, chubby and have a big butt *yes I admit it -.- * I talk a lot and getting me to shut up can be a real talent in itself...so a donkey fit. I recently died my hair with henna and if I had one would have been too lazy to color the tail. The accessories are similar to items I always wear anyway. They symbol is a wacom pen, a paint brush and a question mark. My best talent is figuring out how to do stuff...soo there ya go.

What do you think?

Customs / Blind Bag Dragons -Pics-
« on: January 31, 2012, 12:20:23 PM »
So I have seen quite a few folks doing these blind bag dragons and I couldn't resist trying a couple. I've never modified a blind bag prior to this and found it much easier than I thought. So without further ado, Black Gold and Ice Crystal.

Customs / Fakies, an oven and what I have learned
« on: January 28, 2012, 07:05:29 PM »
So I was doing the sculpt on a fakie I got in the mail today. I was so excited I wanted to do just the sculpt. I had a Walgreen's one. Anyway I started the sculpt using Fimo Light, wire mesh and alcohol to smooth out the fimo. The sculpt was going fantastic.

So I put the fimo in the oven on 230 for 30 minutes. The fakie came out JUST FINE!!! So when it came time to put him in for the second round I stuck him back it. Problem is my roommate reset the oven for 350. So 20 minutes later the Fimo was scorched and the pony was...melted.

So a few things I learned from this
1. You can put Walgreen's fakies in the oven, but no higher than 230 degrees
2. Use a wire for sculpting legs IN ADDITION to wire mesh.
3. Fimo Light can be smoothed out with 91% rubbing alcohol.
4. When trying new things always have a backup pony on hand.

Just so y'all know ^,^

Customs / g1-g4 Twinkle Eyes Quackers
« on: January 25, 2012, 11:13:30 AM »
My first TE pony and she turned out to be a great success. I had a lot of bumps along the way, but aside from all the frustration she is my favorite custom to date. I can't stop playing with her!

Anyway Quackers started life out as a g4 plumsweet. Because Plumsweet is a white pony I was able to avoid a full body repaint...yay! After removing all the factory paint I tried out a few various flat backed gems and hated all of them. I even took the original eyes out of a dirty and yellowed bait Quackers I had. Sadly those eyes are closer to 10mm and way to large. In the end I ended up using a 6mm flat back gem I got at Joanne's in a multi pack. The eyes stuck out so far initially it made me wince, plus they didn't lay very flat. So in the end I carved out holes and set them into the plastic securing them with superglue from the inside.

After that I painted the whites and lashes and finally a thin line of Thalo Blue around the edge of the jewel and sealed it all with mod podge matte and it was PERFECT! I painted her cutie on both sides and re-haired her with a mix of Atomic Turquoise, Key Lime, Golden Delicious and Heart Throb. Oddly they were not ordered for a Quackers, but something I had left over. They turned out to be an EXACT match for the original.

So without further ado...

Customs / Baby Ferret Shock
« on: January 25, 2012, 11:00:45 AM »
So Ferret shock is my personal OC and one widely associated with my art on DA. When I found out my Dad was ill I wanted to make this for him as he always laughed and liked my mlp art. After he died I sort of shelved her for a week or two and finished her off yesterday.

Anyway she started life as a Sweetie Belle who promptly had her horn chopped off. The gaping hole was sculpted over with fimo and sanded smooth. She was then painted with acrylics and rehaired with Dollyhair's Water Nixie and Key Lime. She has 3 pearl pushpins in her hair and sealed with Mod Podge Matte.

Customs / Blind Bag ponies?
« on: January 23, 2012, 12:50:42 PM »
I've a friend who wants me to customize a couple blind bag g4's. Being the glutton for punishment that I am I can't just leave well enough alone and settle for a repaint. So here is the question. How would I go about removing parts such as mains and tails so I can resculpt?

Thanks.

Wanted! / Looking for G3 baby bait
« on: January 21, 2012, 08:54:02 AM »
So G3 babies are for some reason my favorite bait to work on. Anyway I buy em out whenever I find them, but they seem to be scarce in my area. I always do complete repaints and re-hair so marks, stains and ratty hair does not bother me. Let me know what you have! Pics please.

I especially would like a couple pegasus and unicorns if they made them.

Customs / Dazzler - Private swap with ViciousJupiter
« on: January 21, 2012, 08:49:35 AM »
So before I knew I was accepted into the mash-up swap I did a private trade with the same theme with  ViciousJupiter.  The three ponies she chose were g1's - Glory, Galaxy, and Quackers. Having a quick spark of inspiration (not to mention all the supplies and a prepped bate as well as a free day of nothingness laying ahead....) I got to work and well...finished.

She is a g3 base, though from who I have no clue. The bate was prepped ages ago with all paint and hair removed. Anyway She was painted with acrylics in a custom mix to match galaxy from screen caps best I could. She has a white dry brushed gradient around her rump, on her feet and around her eyes. Red Galaxy stars scatter from a cutie inspired by Glory's shooting star, which was painted with metallic silver paint as I have no glitter. On the front right hoof, Quacker's little duck uses his umbrella to shield him from the star shower. She was rehaired with Dolly Hair Key Lime, Atomic Turqoise and Moonlight (which sparkles like silver)

I hope ViciousJupiter enjoys!

Customs / Custom Luna
« on: January 15, 2012, 05:04:53 PM »
So I decided to do a bit more sculpting on a g4. I've been trying to show this off hear for a week or so, but it wouldn't let me post till tonight. So without further ado, Princess Luna of MLP:FIM fame. Please let me know what you think. I've never done sculpting before on a pony aside from a nose mod or struggled through a corset.
