Yeah seems I'm doing another one of these threads again.
I know I've basically vanished from here over the last couple of years it seems. I still do love mlp I just haven't been very involved with pony stuff much as of late but I do miss hanging around on here and wonder how you're all getting along so here's me just chiming in, saying an awkward hello for disappearing again and just wanting to check in and see how everyone is doing.

So I had an interesting moment today.
I was reading an article that was about 'Force Friday' and in the discussion about it there was a discussion about toy collecting, namely like a 'do you have to try and grab this stuff first?' type thing.
I contributed because well I felt it was relevant. I basically stated that I'm a pretty casual collector (moreso lately because of not having the money to get anything) and happened to mention that I collect ponies and monster high, since well we're talking about toys right? It's a useful frame of reference. (even though it's a moot point I'd even said 'I was collecting before FiM' as a frame of reference thing)
Then I get a comment later on from someone being like 'Are you an 8 year old girl?' (with a 'right, right?') tacked on the end. I did feel maybe the person was trying to troll, but I ended up responding like 'Nope I'm an adult who just happens to collect those' and then I get another response to them like 'Oh so a adult woman who collects them for nostalgia reasons?' (with the same right, right) tacked on the end. (also 'adult woman' sounded a bit patronising or a bit weird)
It seemed weird, like I said I think they may have been trolling a bit but at the same time. Why are you so concerned about this statement? Why is it such a big deal/so hard to comprehend. Like you just made me 'reassure' you about my hobby.
I like ponies, I like MH, I like to buy them occasionally. I think they're neat. Isn't that enough? Also I mean this was on a 'geeky' space so you'd think people there would understand why I'd want to collect them as like it's no different than collecting any other line of toys. Star Wars stuff is also something I would collect if I had the funds (as you can guess from the avatar, star wars is one of my 'things')
But it's almost as if I admitted to 'geeking' wrong because I happened to say I like plastic ponies and a particular line of dolls.
I don't understand. (Or maybe I kind of do)
(also I don't think this is a 'because of FiM' thing since I think MLP has always sort of been misunderstood/mocked in terms of a thing to collect as I remember seeing this stuff before)

So I just found this and it's both confused me and made me laugh and made me think that article writers sometimes need to sit down and research a bit more. As it's claiming the current trend for pastel hair like this visitors can't see pics , please register or login is apparently a style named 'Brony' and so people doing this hairstlye are 'My Little Bronies' and cites that people are trying to replicate the manes of MLPs from the 80s. Am I missing something here? Because pretty sure I've never seen this term used to refer to a haircut. But then journalists making mistakes when talking about MLP is nothing new.

Hey dog owning pony people. I've got a survey I need filling out for my second year HND research project in which I'm looking into what influences the choice dog owners make for their dog's diet and so if you have a moment or two would you mind filling this out? It shouldn't take long https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LWKW63W

So I was running a scan with Avast and had a few files flagged up visitors can't see pics , please register or loginBut I'm not sure if they're actually viruses/malware? Like my machine is behaving normally and I've as far as I know not done anything to potentially compromise my machine. And they look to me to be normal system files. I've had false positives before, like they once flagged up the installer file for WoW

So, I've mentioned that on my HND I'm on, we've been getting to help out around a local zoo (the same one I volunteer at) and we were up there this week and some of us got to help finish up a project we've been helping with for a while. The wolf enclosure had a new den added to it, we were basically drafted in to help with preparing the area so you know clearing out old wood as their enclosure is pretty much a fenced off section of woodland so they could start building it. And the new den was made and as it's buried and soil/mud topped we helped by adding in some plants, they'll help the area look more natural and will get people to notice it when they go past and so hopefully in a few months it will look quite nice when things start growing properly visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Okay so yesterday I noticed my laptop starting to do something a bit odd
For some reason when I boot my laptop on, the fans seem to kick up quite high, like I find it does when I'm playing a game. And so I turned the laptop off and booted again, same thing and then the next time it stopped And for some reason if my laptop goes into sleep mode and then I wake it and get to my start screen it does it
And the only thing I've done is yesterday I installed some updates on my machine, and also updated my graphics card driver so I don't know if somehow either of those did it, because I can't see anything that should be making my laptop do this.
EDIT: Ran a system restore last night, and did find it seemed to work so I'm guessing whatever did it was tied into an update,

I don't think this is WYP worthy But finding an item of clothing on sale in a video game shop you think you'd like to own, and then you look at it and the brand says they go up to a certain size, (Men's 3XL, and I wanted a 2XL because it's a fleece jacket so I'd of course like a bit of room to wear stuff under it) so you think 'Alright I'll look this item up when I get in and see if they have a particular size in stock' And then the item is apparently only sold through that store and they don't stock anything higher than an XL

On October 31st my mum dragged me into a dreaded conversation
'What do you want for Christmas' A conversation where 'I don't know' and 'I don't think I want anything' and 'Well you said you'd get me some books from my course reading list' are not acceptable answers and I shall be badgered non-stop for at least two weeks because otherwise it's 'too late'
Save me!
