May is MerMay! Join me in a fun challenge where you get to draw or craft seaponies, merponies and other ponies enjoying the seaside. Follow the daily prompts or come up with your own version of the challenge!
This is no contest. There are no sign-ups or prizes. You can start or quit at any time. You can do quick sketches/doodles or something more elaborate, the choice is yours. You can draw or do crafts, all media are allowed - even photography! You can do all separately or work them into one image/piece. Post daily or do a compilation. And finally, if daily prompts are too much, you can do one per week, for example by choosing among the ponies listed for that week. These are just ideas, there are no actual rules, it's just a fun challenge to create more pony art ^.^
Feel free to ask questions and to use this thread for general chatting along the way.

Awesome! Yes here is fine, if it starts getting too messy we can consider starting separate weekly threads for pics, but for now I think it's good to keep everything in one place :)

Coloured pencils are not my favourite medium but I decided to use my current small sketchbook for this challenge and the pages can't handle markers or watercolour. I used a mix of regular pencils and watercolour pencils (but without the water). I couldn't resist adding gel pen highlights.

I only had time for a very quick drawing today.
ETA/ Lol that should read "#2 Seaspray"... My mind is really wandering today! It's been the Mondayest Monday and it isn't even Monday!!
Also, I swear starting this off with two yellow ponies wasn't intentional! I shuffled the list using random generator and only thought to check that different gens were somewhat evenly distributed :P

I added a pic of yesterday's drawing. Again the one for today is done but I'll have to photograph it later... Not that it really matters if we complete these in time or not, it's fine to catch up!

:shy: I also decided to make a small drawing in a small sketchbook. (Thanks for the idea Griffin, it's convenient and nice to draw in a sketchbook!) I got interested in the G1 ponies and drew Seaspray, Main Sail and Whitecap. Main Sail is on the boat even though it doesn't really look like it, I've never drawn a boat from that angle. :lol:

I had so many problems. I was trying to whip this out fast before bed, so it's rushed. I used the world's crappiest markers! Horrible colors. Yellow looks like neon highlighter. Mainsail herself looks like a hornless Ribbon. I should have left her color-change streak white. And both of my fine point black pens ran out of ink on this piece!

Lilly Drop became one of my favorite photo ponies when the G4 baby sea ponies were out. I took all kinds of silly pictures with her and the others, but Lilly was the star.
