Title: What would you trade your collection for?
Post by: BlackCurtains on December 14, 2022, 06:16:23 AM
Is there anything you'd give your collection up for? I'm talking items, not like, If my dad could walk again stuff. No money either. It has to be a tangible thing.

New car? New house? An ancient artifact that grants wishes? :P

I would give mine up for the right house, for sure. I'd be pretty picky about it though. It would have to be mine free and clear outright, on lots of land, taxes paid for life. With enough rooms the right size for my needs and wants.

I would also trade my pony collection for an original Salvador Dali. Has to be original. Painted by the man himself.

What would you trade for?

A house would be fine! And I could work on building it up again, which would be fun.

World peace, an end to suffering... that would be pretty great.  It also sounds like everyone dies so perhaps not.

But for something tangible?  Homes scattered around the city for the local homeless and offices for people who look after them.

Monet's Water Lilies would be amazing but also unfair to the rest of the world so it would probably go right back on display again.

For something just for me... I couldn't say because my childhood collection means a lot to me.  My Glory would probably end up in someone's bait lot.

I couldn't do it, either. Heck even if I could ask for a genie who'd grant me 3 wishes, I can't think of anything I'd want/need enough to justify giving up my collection.

i've sold off parts of my collection at times when i had other priorities. i needed money for other stuff, bills, paying off debt before we bought our house. i'm hoping not to have to do that again but i definitely would if i had to. i have some ponies that i'm less willing to sell. a few have more sentimental value. but i don't have any ponies from my childhood.

as far as trading for something else tangible i don't really think there is anything right now. i've definitely had times when i hated my job and thought about selling my collection in order to quit and take time off.

Easy. A house within walking distance to my kids' school.

Since I can't trade for better physical and mental health, this will at least go a long way toward getting me some more rest, which will in turn, improve both greatly.

A really interesting question.. because I'd take 10x the money worth of the collection.. or cure family illness in a heartbeat! But that's not allowed...

perhapppsss having the wedding of my dreams but does that count as money? Still I'd rather have a "budget" wedding than have to give up my childhood herd members !
There's not much material things I would give up my collection it seems  :wow:

Mine goes back into my childhood, including ponies that I had at important family times. Losing them would be pretty hard. I don't think I could do that kind of a material trade. If you were asking for something abstract like world peace or whatever, then maybe. But if I wanted to sell them to save for something, I'd probably have done it already. :/

A time machine and enough money to purchase doubles of every G1 at their original retail price. LOL. Seriously, there's really not anything that could make me give up the entire collection. I will always keep my childhood collection, no matter what. Barring my husband or one of the kids becoming ill and needing the money, I can't think of anything else that would make me sell.

I wouldn't trade my collection for anything tangible. While I do collect other things, none of them as avidly. If I had wanted to spend money on other things instead of the ponies, I would have. :good:

I like people's answers about a house, though. I do still need one of those... Wonder why? :silly:

I don't have many ponies in my collection. I'd trade them for the health of family, I'd sell them for medical bills if I needed to. :) I haven't had to sell any yet but I have some that I would like to keep, just for sentimental reasons. Unfortunately one of the most sentimental ones I have is worth the most out of my collection.

A new house in a safe area in a blue state like Massachusetts certainly would tempt me!

A house, really.... housing has been terrible in NL and renting is crazy expensive.

I don't have that many in my collection anymore because I've moved so many times from Queensland to Tasmania, to back to Queensland again. But I'd probably trade for uranium glass or to landscape our yard so we have a nicer yard to be in!

I could never give away my ponies! Unless with the magical artifact that grants wishes and I can wish them all back haha

depends, where's my collection going? if it just goes poof then no, i'm not trading it for anything. it's my life's work. if the fate of my collection is my choice (so i can donate it to a local toy museum, as is my plan for if i die anyways) then take it and get rid of my chronic pain and disabilities lmao.
