Title: "Nebulove" - a chalk pastel custom

I noticed some fashion doll customizers using chalk pastels on their customs, but I hadn't seen it used on a pony custom yet. So, I decided to order some and try it out for myself. I'm pleasantly surprised with the results. I honestly didn't expect them to show up so well!

I decided almost immediately I wanted a cute space theme. I felt it appropriate for testing out soft pastels, plus it would blend well with the base (Pinkie Pie).

The paint job on the eyes and symbols are certainly not my proudest work. I'm pretty out of practice right now and it shows.

I decided to go with some yarn I dyed for the reroot. I want to say it was because it added to the soft, space theme or whatever but the real reason is that I just happened to have a bunch of acrylic yarn and leftover dyes already lying around.

Sorry about the subpar photos. I've said it before, but I'm a terrible photographer.  :silly:

She's so cute! Chalk pastels really have that wonderful, soft look to them - it's very unique! I also love her hair, it's perfect for the theme :lovey:

Did you use something like MSC to prime the base before applying the pastels? Or to seal the finished work?

Thank you! And yes, I used sealant between each coat of pastels.

She's adorable! I don't often see the G4 reboot toys getting used for customs, the mould works nicely with the rest of the design.

What a cutie! I actually really love the reboot poses. She looks great! I've used chalk pastels a few times on ponies, they have a nice soft look :)

I used pastels mixed with water on this guy - Warning for Trypophobia and he's just super gross.
