Title: Worst thing to clean in your collection?
Post by: Ragamuffin on July 20, 2022, 02:28:01 PM
Owning a Paradise Estate is all fun and games until you have to dust around the flowerbed and pull hair out of the flowers.

My Paradise Estate is boxed away, but I imagine those flowerbeds would be tough to dust.   For me, the pony porcelains have been difficult to delicately dust and clean!

Flutter pony wings.

I've cleaned PE a couple of times. I'd much rather do that than touch the flutter wings when they're dusty.

Worst pony to clean:
Very tangled Brush N Grow ponies that still have a working mechanism. I bought five of them back in 2018 (swap meet finds) and one of them I still have not washed and de-tangled the hair. Poor Twisty Tail, her body got cleaned but not her hair. She just lays on a box in our office waiting for a trip to the spa (she tends to fall over, so at this point I have just laid her over).

Playsets:
ROOFS! Always the roofs, all the rows and rows of scalloped edge shingles (MLP Nursery for example), and I'm not just talking about MLP either. My Strawberry Shortcake Berry Happy Home from the 80's has all those little bumps too. In the last year or so I dug out our old Fisher Price stuff and the same thing....all those darn molded roofs. Darn you 80's toys for trying to be authentic with those details.

Sea ponies. Especially the pearlized ones. I'm scared of getting water in the little head hole, and I'm scared of removing the pearly coat. I've had no mishaps yet, but I'm always really nervous about them.
Otherwise any pony with serious frizz/detangling. While I really enjoy defrizzing and find it satisfying, it hurts my hands a lot to comb the tangles out. Especially when it takes a while. I can only spa around 6-7 ponies at a time (with mixed hair conditions - if all nice I can probably do more) before both my hands and my back hand in their immediate notice.

I detest cleaning So Softs.  They never really get clean, and I’m terrified of destroying the flocking.

I like cleaning So Softs, the soft and fluffy flocking after conditioning is so nice :)

I'm going to say hair. Bodies are easy to wipe with a Swiffer duster but the hair is another story. Especially if it's been a while and there is dust and cat hair on it. I don't take my ponies to a spa day just to clean dust off so I usually just shake them out and then vacuum.

No specific pony in my collection is more hard to clean then the others and I don't own any playsets what I can say is I can't  clean any of them with water because I'm terrified of mold also ponies in general are so hard to dust

Do you have a pet? If not how on earth is their hair in the flowerbeds

The Lullaby Nursery, I have all of my ponies in my room (hopefully that will change when I get my own place) and it’s right under my cat’s window door and I live in the woods so a lot of bugs are there and what doesn’t help is that my cat likes to bring in mice and chipmunks dead or alive! So sometimes I have them running around my room going through the Lullaby Nursery and my other ponies!

I find that G4 pegasus wings are REALLY good at trapping dust, and it's super hard to get out  :(
