Back when I joined the forum around 2014, I remember seeing reference to something like "random acts of pony kindness" or "random pony acts of kindness," something like that. But I don't remember ever finding out what exactly that meant. With the 20th anniversary thread going, it made me think about those days and I was curious to know!

IIRC it was surprise pony mail, i.e. sending people pony stuff in the post to cheer them up and whatnot. I think it's harder to do now due to constantly-rising postage costs.

Yes, it was kind of an unofficial thing. There was at least one former mod who kept people's addresses and if you wanted to surprise someone with a pony or gifts you could PM for the address. Another way to get an adress was to look at the feedback of the person you want to surprise and contact the last person they had a transaction with. That was when the forum was a lot more active and had a lot of different swaps, so most people's feedback was current.
I have done some RAOPK in the past and gotten one myself :) They are great fun.

Wyndeboo gave me a pony tail, for Seashell. I kept that Seashell she's still in my collection. She has a chewed ear. I did ask the forum though so it wasn't really random.

I have a Pony Friend I exchange boxes with. I know this person has a lot of Pony connections, so any spare Pony stuff I get, goes in a box, & twice a year (bd at end of June & Christmas) the box is sent to her. Sometimes I also make stuff to go in

Drusilla runs one of the RAOPK groups so she should have addresses as well. Any thrift finds I have I try to RAOPK them :)

Thanks for all the info! It sounds like it kind of means different things to different people, but with a common thread...

I used to send ponies out if I had extras and someone was looking for it. I received a couple packages myself, which was so sweet! It was a nice way of connecting to others in the community as well as spread some pony love.
I kinda miss it, honestly.
