Hello everyone,
I am looking for your opinion. Just a poll for fun. Which do you prefer?
I like the dragon toys better, though I don't own them yet.
I think the bushwoolies are pretty cute in the show but I'mmnot going to seek them out.
How about you? Any preferences? I would love to hear it.
Cheers,
Luke

I voted for both, but the Bushwhoolies are certainly more original than the dragons. The recoloring of Spike just seemed a bit random.
-
I don't know. I've never seen a baby dragon outside of people's pictures. The dragons have better colors but are all the same. The bushwoolies have 3 moulds, but a couple color repeats.
-
i collect both. bushwoolies are easier to find than most of the dragons. the dragons all have the same pose but i like the colors better.
-
I love dragons ;)
love pkw xxx
-
Dragons for sure! But the Bushwoolies are very cute too.
-
It's not even a contest.
I like the bushwoolies fine but don't associate them with the princesses at all.
I grew up with dragons, so it will always be dragons.
I had Smokey as a child, with Princess Sapphire.
The accessory balance for all the Y5 princesses (except the weird with Amethyst's hat) is also more logical in the UK release. The hats make more sense.
And Princess Pearl and Fiery is a stunning combination.
The comments about the bushwoolies being more original are ironic to me because bushwoolies are meant to be a collective and all the same ;) whereas the dragons all had independent and distinct personalities. That's also probably a factor in why I like them more.
-
I have to say I like them both but I do lean more towards the dragons. I grew up on the other side of the pond and like the bushwoolies. I also love Eager. I hint towards the movie he is in.

Love Fiery, Smokey, and Prickles. But I love Friendly, Chumster, Wishful, and Eager too. I like the Hugster pose, just wish they'd had bolder colors.
What people mean is, the dragons are all on one pose, while the bushwoolies are on 3. The Friendly pose kinda reminds me of the Claymation Groke.
-
Quest of the Princess Ponies was my fave MLP VHS so I do have a deep princess/bushwoolie association but honestly the dragons are cooler~!
-
Bushwoolies... just because I had Friendly as a kid and he was an adventurer.
-
Bushwoolies because they were in the cartoon.
-
I couldn't pick. I love them both!
-
I have to say Bushwoolies. They are just adorable and I loved them in the cartoon. I don't have any, but wouldn't hesitate to grab one if I saw one at a flea market or something.
-
Both!!! Like, why not???
Bushwoolies: there were FAR more than six in the cartoon, so I started making pom-pom Bushwoolies to add to the numbers (look left - there's one in my profile pic). We should definitely have had more Bushwoolies.
Dragons: being in the UK I love dragons. We all do here; dragons are a big part of our myths & legends. And Taffeta has elaborated on the characters each of the Princess dragons had. I also have some HQG1C dragons, including a whole bunch of glittery dragons I Customised to go with Glittery Boy Ponies to make Glitter Prince & Dragon pairs. I even crafted some Fimo dragons for the second set of Princesses, plus one for my Custom pegacorn Princess. I WISH we had a toy of G3 Spike
-
They're both cute, but I think the dragons are just a little bit cuter ^.^
-
Furbobs!
-
I like both of them though the woolies are way easier to find this side of the pond. I have yet to get my hands on any of the dragons.
-
Both. I like the dragons but will probably never afford one. The bushwoolies were cute in the show, but the toys are out of proportion to the ponies.
-
Dragons for me...all the way! I nearly have them all (just need MO Spike). I doubt I'd ever buy a Bush Woolie...
-

Mm, I got that. But because they had such unique characters in the comics and such, it kind of never bothered or occurred to child me that they were the same pose. Whereas it took me a long time to get the bushwoolie names straight when I was trading for them, and I admit, I still sometimes get them confused. They may be different poses, but there's nothing that makes them stand out in the same way :)
That's why I find it ironic, because Hasbro sold the bushwoolies entirely on the theme of them being the same, when the toys weren't...and sold the dragons with distinct characters, using the one mould.
Without those characterisations, maybe my opinion would be different. But I have zero connection between the bushwoolies and the princesses and never will. IF anything, they go with Sweetie, since the treasure hunt ep was the only ep I had with them as a kid.
-
I chose both.
Bushwoolies because it's what I grew up with and nostalgia!
Dragons because I love dragons of all types, which includes the ones in MLP too
-
Dragons. I didn't have any as a kid but wanted them so bad, so as an adult collector I got all of them and three different Spikes.
-
Furbobs!
Oh, I WISH they'd made those Furbob toys! The prototypes are adorable.
-
Yeah, logically I think dragons are better (and cuter) than bushwoolies. The dragons are what I associate with the princess ponies since childhood. BUT, it was so mindblowing to find out they made toys of the bushwoolies when I first got online. Even more mindblowing to later learn that Furbobs were seriously considered for the second set of princesses!
So if I have to choose between them, I'd have to go with bushwoolies. I just really like that connection to the animated series. For me it outweighs a bunch of Spike recolors, even if it is a fun concept as well. Sadly I don't have nearly as strong feelings for the princess ponies as I do for their companions. :P
-
Yeah, I would never have known Hasbro had considered the furbobs of all things until I saw the prototypes.
-
Dragons for me although I do think the Bushwoolie toys are cute and have Princess Tiffany/Pearl's and Serena/Aqumarine's. I'm in the US so I didn't even know Hasbro made dragons for the princesses for a long time.

I'm probably a minority, but I don't mind that they didn't make the furbobs. I think because I had so few eps as a kid, and the ones I did have were in my view 'wrong' with things like pony names, etc...I didn't pay much attention to this world vs the comic one. I am now trying to remember if bushwoolies ever happened in the comic, but I'm not sure that they did.
I like them fine, and I am glad they made them, but I'm happy enough Taffeta didn't come with a furbob toy. I'm not huge on brandy/twinkles/snowball/duck soup either tbh.
It really is all about the characterisation to me. Which I guess is the same for people who grew up on the cartoons re the bushwoolies.
-
Dragons. I grew up in the UK so my princess ponies came with dragons and I've always been a fan of dragons. The bushwoolies don't look as nice as the dragons to me. I didn't know they existed until I started collecting as an adult.
-
Dragons for me all the way. I think they are amazing. But I didn't grow up with Princess ponies so haven't sought them out. I'd actually love to have the full set of dragons but I shall leave them for collectors of the Princess ponies.

Who is Snowball?
-
Snowball is the white cat that came with Kiss Curl's Grooming Parlour. Very cute. I like all those little guys but then, I saw very little media as a kid. I saw the first movie because a friend's Mum took me, and one or two comics from jumble sales probably, and never in sequence. So the characterisation was pretty much lacking in my head except for back card stories. I saw a fact file once at someone else's house and it blew my mind!
