Maybe someone here is a better Tumblr detective than I am but this is SUPERIOR news if it is actual recent news / communication.
I am obviously reblogging this, but I cannot seem to sniff out the date the original poster posted it to tumblr or got communicated to by BF. The timing super-matters because if they got told at like Nov/Dec 2020....it's rubbish news because we all know what happened at Target where they took down the shelf prices/got rid of their place to host the BF ponies. It would invalidate it.
BUT if this person got told/communicated like.........now....or AFTER Target did the thing, then that means ponies really are coming back in August because it is new news from the official source of it.

Ooh, hopefully!! Would love to get more basic funs, but it's such a pain tracking them down. Hopefully, a new set would make things easier! Particularly keen on the prospect of a basic fun Gingerbread or Sweet Stuff... but yeah, timing definitely matters there. Hopefully it's still planned to happen!

They said they would, but I won't hold my breath. I will also be VERY upset if stupid retailers interfere, like they did with the flutter set.
They chose Sweet Stuff, Fizzy, Gingerbread and Sky Rocket. No pegasus.

Yes, Basic Fun did confirm this! US Retailers who will be carrying this line are Cracker Barrel and Meijer, along with unspecified small retailers (and presumably Paper Source since they got the Posey wave). No larger US retailers have picked up the line, but BF did say they still might release more ponies in the future as well.
I made a comment (http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,395140.msg1848400.html#msg1848400) about this in one of the 35th anniversary threads; I contacted BF about a defective pony and took the chance to ask about any upcoming releases, and they confirmed the Twinkle Eye set is still confirmed for release- this was in April, but toy production takes a fair bit of time so I would assume that they already would have started production by then.

I'm not sure- I know the Posey Wave is technically on Amazon, but only from third parties. I actually don't remember the Gusty Wave being sold directly from Amazon either :/
I managed to get both the Posey and Gusty waves from smaller online retailers at retail price, though, so I'm sure that will also be an option with this wave.

It's a shame that they won't be stocking anywhere else for the time being. I've missed out on the Posey wave and I don't live very close to a Cracker Barrel or Meijer. :(

You can try Paper Source! I found out they had the Posey wave when I ordered six ponies, thinking I would get Unicorns/Pegasus Series 2 (The listing photo is of that wave, and CS told me they would send the full case if I ordered six and contacted CS with my order number to request a full set) only to get the full Posey set along with an extra Posey and Cherries Jubilee lol.
Super annoying, but I'm thinking if you order 4 and ask CS to send the full set, they will mail the entire Posey wave. This only works if you order the full set, however, because they don't let you pick otherwise.
This site (https://toyshoppeinc.com/products/retro-my-little-pony?variant=39373557072022) also still has everyone in stock, with the exception of CJ!

Amazon UK seems to have had both the previous sets (on and of, right now they have Surprise, CJ, and a couple of others, but never all eight at once) so I'm hopeful to find them there in the autumn/winter whenever they reach the UK. But I still am sad we got no Powder, and there will be no Masquerade :(

Absolutely, I would have bought these two ponies in a heartbeat as I've never owned them and I would have loved to own brand new versions of them (especially Powder, as I can't seem to find one in excellent condition). I won't buy Gingerbread and Sweetie as I still have my childhood ones.

Yay this makes me so happy! :biggrin: The twinkle eyes are one of my favorite sets.
I have a Cracker Barrel not too far from me and my grandma loves to eat there. Perhaps this will be a good excuse to take her there every now and then. ;)

I believe I had seen them on their website before, but I never purchased them from it. I don't ever remember seeing the most recent set they carried (Gusty, etc) online; it always seemed like the website was a season behind whatever set they were carrying in the store.

oh ok. ya i must be remembering it right. we don’t go irl to target even once a month (partly because of distance) so i might have to plan a trip in advance and hope for the best.

I was able to get many of the first releases of BF ponies at Target but haven't seen any of the Lickety Split wave anywhere.
My Cracker Barrel had Heart Throb, Gusty, Surprise and Sparkler this week.

It is, but they have a fairly large lobby area that is also a gift shop with candy, toys, shirts, candles, things like that.

Their old-timey sodas are awesome. My favorite is the Swamp Pop.

I'm so sad because we don't have Cracker Barrels or the other place (Meijer??) around these parts :sad: I'm desperately crossing my fingers I'll be able to find them online for reasonable prices. The twinkle eyes are my absolute favorite line of G1 ponies and I'm not about to give up on owning them without a fight!

There are a few Cracker Barrel restaurants in the state of California, 6 of them to be exact. However that doesn't make them convenient for pony shopping depending on where you live. For me, the closest Cracker Barrel would be a 11/2 - 2 hour drive. Which basically means any future waves I will have to buy online. Paper Source might be an option, but that still is a 30-45min drive for in-person shopping and as others have stated/also stated on their website, product selection is random.
The hope though is more online retailers pick them up, as this would create a broader range of distribution rather than relying on one or two specific stores to handle all the sales. What would make the most sense though is if Basic Fun made better use of their Amazon store. If you look on Amazon, Basic Fun does have a presence there, however at least in regards to MLP, the items available are what is left from the first few waves (and at a steep price increase). If the new waves were made available for sale there, even if they were in whole sets (a box of x amount), this would still broaden the opportunity for sales and distribution.

It is a restaurant, but the front half/lobby is a store that sells trinkets and novelty merchandise! I haven't been to CB in a while but Retro MLP would definitely fit the whole vibe of what they sell in the shop portion of the restaurant.
I'm assuming Hot Topic and Gamestop just didn't pick them up, much like walmart/target; companies don't typically pick which retailers will carry their products, rather they depend on the individual retailer to decide if they want to stock their products.

Yeah, Cracker Barrel has some cool stuff! Kinda fun to browse through if you're eating there on a weekend morning and you're stuck having to wait for a table. I haven't been to one in at least a decade, but my mom shops there all the time to buy children's clothing, of all weird, random things!
I'm surprised they didn't do Galaxy too, not so much because of her popularity vs Sky Rocket's, but from a mold/pose standpoint, I would think they would have wanted to utilize the Fizzy pose-mold more than once. It's odd that in a set of 4, they are using the Gingerbread pose 3 times and Fizzy's only once. In a way, it's hopeful...perhaps they anticipate doing another wave in the future to use the mold again.

I've seen a few Basic Fun ponies at Cracker Barrel. They sell a lot of nostalgic/retro toys in the gift shop/lobby. I've also seen World's Smallest and BF Strawberry Shortcake there.
My Cracker Barrell had a few ponies from Gusty's set last week. They charge a little more than Target. When I bought a few ponies there I think they were $12.99 each instead of $9.99
I can't wait to see the twinkle eyes.

The description is quite interesting in that it mentions glitter cutie marks but no jewel eyes...odd. The color description is also off as well?

CALL ME CRAZY IF YOU WISH. But, pink & purple symbol (deffo not glittery), green body, red and blue mane? I dare wager they've accidentally described the Sparkle Sky Rocket instead of the one with Twinkle Eyes.

Oooh, it does bring up a good point - wouldn't adding a jewel to an eye require modifying their molds? Or are they simply adding them in to the new molds they're making anyway? I was going to say 'oh no!' but I realized, hey! They haven't made a Buttons mold yet, so I guess they don't have to modify anything! But I imagine adding a jewel to a toy would be difficult in any situation!

I’m thinking this might be a description for fizzy? Maybe with her tv animation coloring?
