Same setting as G4 but magic is gone and everyone is paranoid and distrustful at first. Ponies in the middle are new characters. The main character is named Sunny Starscout.

Officially, they're not supposed to read fanfics *in case* they accidentally copy a fan's idea, the fan gets angry and demands compensation/sues them/etc.
Though it wouldn't surprise me at all if they did have someone keep an eye on fandom trends at least, to "see what the fans want" or what-have-you.

My G3 fic was about an evil force conspiring to keep the earth ponies, pegasus ponies, and unicorns from uniting, and working to separate them when they did. Maybe for G5 the twist is they just...fell apart on their own or something.

Well it's after 5pm so everyone in the offices have probably gone home and yet they still have the 2020 brand kits up. I guess they aren't bothering to update them anymore.

Welp, I'm not happy, for two reasons. One is I hate the heads (still too FiM-like and the toys are worse), the other is it sounds like this is still in the FiM universe instead of being a badly-needed real fresh start.
