Title: Is So Soft Surprise supposed to have glow in the dark hair?
Post by: starrynights on January 24, 2021, 10:40:50 PM
I just got her, and her hair glows neon green in the dark! Is this normal? I can't find anything when I search for it.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I can't get a good picture of her glowing in the dark sadly - I have a bad camera

That's really strange...mine acts like it's GITD...if I leave her in heavy light then put her in the dark she glows until it fades and she needs light again..

As a kid I was convinced my childhood Shady had glowing hair. It doesn't actually glow, but it's bright enough that it seems to have an aura around it. Surprise has the same colour, so it would make sense if the same phenomenon occurs. I think it's an optical illusion though. It shouldn't actually glow.

My girlfriend had the same conviction about Honeycomb, she remembers shutting herself in the bathroom with the light off to see if Honeycomb's hair glowed! She always thought it did, a little bit, but I think as you said it's an optical illusion.

I just tried this with a pony w/ chartreuse hair.
pitch black room. 2,000 lumen flashlight. closed my eyes and shined the flashlight close to the pony for 10+ seconds. turned it off. Saw nothing.

If it was intended to glow in the dark, I think Hasbro would of advertised the heck out of that. Perhaps your Surprise is special? But, I dunno.

I think chartreuse hair absolutely looks like it glows when it catches some light tho...

Maybe it is a optical illusion...
It's a really cool color!
If I had a better camera I would take a picture...maybe later I can borrow my sisters fancy iPhone.

My plush Surprise has a similar thing going on. It fluoresces under blacklight, but doesn't continue glowing in the dark. It does, however, look much brighter than any other color when there's only dim light. It'll catch my eye just as I'm starting to fall asleep, then I'll have to start over!

I just love that hair color of my small surprise army. But I never thought it would glow in the dark. I think it would of been cool if it did though.
