Title: What are these airbrushes like?
Post by: NanoRuby on January 15, 2021, 05:17:41 PM
I've been wanting to get an airbrush for a while but have no idea which ones are good, so I thought I'd ask here. What are peoples' opinions on these? Which one is best?

https://www.amazon.com/PointZero-Airbrush-Dual-Action-Guns/dp/B010TQCOEE
https://www.amazon.com/Paasche-Airbrush-MIL-Set-Double-Action/dp/B001CTC48O

I'm more concerned with the overall quality of the airbrush and if it's easy to clean than I am with what exactly comes in the kit. I'm okay with buying nozzles and a compressor and stuff separately if I have to.

Thank you!

I have a Paasche VL double action and I love it! I've had it for several years and it still works great. I use Createx Airbrush Cleaner solution to clean mine and it works wonderfully. It will usually clean everything so I only have to take it apart to rinse it. The one complaint I have about my airbrush is that you have to make sure the feed cup is really secure. Once I accidentally knocked it off and got paint all over.

Master is a good starter, but mine didn't last because I'm clumsy and dropped it, bending the tip shut. Since it was a starter model, that piece doesn't come off, so I had to replace it. I still use the compressor, but it doesn't have a lot of control, though I don't need it, always working on a small scale with acrylics. I replaced the brush with an Iwata. It was expensive, but so worth the upgrade and so much easier to use and clean. If you are just staring out, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these, but the last one will need an air compressor bought separately. The Point Zero will give you the chance to try different feeds to see what you like, but for the price I wouldn't be surprised if quality is lacking. I personally prefer gravity feed for the hand feel and online recommendations for this type I bought into. Sounds like they may have less problems since they work with gravity rather than against, but I don't have first hand experience with siphon feed to be sure.
