Title: I'm looking for an easy way to describe the condition of a 'bait' pony...
Post by: Nella on August 25, 2020, 12:33:49 PM
Ok, I assume most of you have bait pony's too. I have a thread in which I'd like to add my baits so that other members who make customs (or who have more patience than me to bring a bait 'back to her old glory') can see if there is something for them in there.

The difficulty is that there are different gradations of 'baits'. They range from the 'haircut but OK body' up till the 'bold headed and chewed on body' pony's and all the penmarked etc. in between....

I was thinking to make a colorsceme to classify them so that the name (in color) and one picture of them will tell the condition too without having to describe them. Additional pictures will be available too of course, but to make the first look as complete as possible without having to describe the condition in words.

Do you think that will work?

Another difficulty is pricing them. The beyond repair pony's are probably only worth something for customizers. What is a reasonable price of these pony-body's?

I think the difficulty with that is that different conditions are subjective for different collectors. I don't care if a pony has a small haircut, for example, but that is a dealbreaker for other collectors. I don't like when hooves have markings, but that is not such a big deal for others. I think I would just have a form that describes the condition of each part. Like hair, paint, and body.
Pricing is difficult, I would just figure what you are okay with letting the pony go for and be open to offers.

Thank you for your thought :). I have so many that I can't describe their condition like that. I'll think about it some more.

Other ideas are welcome too :D
