Salty was my childhood boy, I still need him back.
Oops! I put this in the wrong forum. Mods please lock.
-
My favourite big brother Tex was also my first.
I got him for cheap in a lot. He is in great condition too, aside from a few marks.
I made him a bandana and I'd like to think he's gay and trans like me, ut that's just my silly headcanon.
-
salty, i dont know why i picked him, i'm nautical theme obsessed now but I don't think i was back then. maybe it was his colour combo. :)
-
Spanish Tex(as). I got him while on vacation and had no idea how valuable he would become in the future, I just loved his pose and light yellow color. He also remained my only childhood BB.
-
Wigwam was mine
-
Salty was the first one I got :+) he was in bad shape though, and he ultimately fell victim to a big customizing project that's taken me YEARS to get around finishing .....
-
Salty and Steamer - I think they might have arrived at the same time and/or were bought from the same seller? Can't remember for sure now. I voted Salty since he's listed first on my collection spreadsheet :B.

I found Tex in a flea market a few years ago. He's still my only Big Brother. He went through a lot, so I restored him. I hope you like him, it was quite the challenge at the time. ^^ He's not perfect, for sure, but he's better in my opinion.

Ugh. Good question. I had none as a kid (had Mountain Boys instead) so it would've been a carboot find.
I think...probably Tex or Tug. One or other of those. Not sure which.
I do remember we have a battered and haircut Tex somewhere. It might've been him...
-
It was Tex and I got him only a few years ago.
It's funny because I always considered Daddy Apple Delight my first. I knew he wasn't called that officially, but it was good enough. I had other ponies on my wish list at the time.
-
Tex came in a bait lot that I had picked up for SS Twilight.
-
Thank you and sorry!

Quarterback was mine.

Barnacle. Having a real boy pony was a dream of mine, but this was after they were sold in stores and pre-internet, so it was garage sale and flea markets. My friend found him, but was gracious enough to let me have him, since she had what we called an 'Original Boy' already.
-
Wigwam! He was actually the very first pony I bought as a collector :)
-
Slugger. I didn't have any Big Brother ponies as a kid. I didn't even know this set existed until 20+ years later. I started with Slugger, then got Steamer, then Tex, and lastly Salty.
-
My only childhood Big Brother was Barnacle. I never liked his colours though.
-
Tex! He and Mountain Boy Sunburst arrived together, found at a tabletop sale at the local YMCA (an appropriate location for a Big Brother pony, they've always reminded me of the Village People....)
-
Tex. He was my only BB as a kid, and Dancing Butterflies was his girlfriend because they had similar colors.
-
Wigwam: he came with Ella written up all of his legs in indelible marker, but I was still excited to get him as I had never touched a big brother until that moment although I had wanted one since I was a kid.
-
tornado and tex got both for my birthday :)
-
Tex! <3 He was my only adult boy for the longest time! So naturally, one of my absolute faves.
Now (as far as G1 goes) he has four other big ole' boy friends! Lol! (Ice Crystal, Dasher, Barnacle & Slugger- he came to me in a lot)
Still after Sunburst and Wigwam!
I find it funny how he was so many peoples' first!
-
I never did have any Big Brothers. In fact, I don't think I even knew any male ponies existed since I never got to watch MLP Tales either until I joined the Arena in 2011.
-
Barnacle!
My goal when I first started collecting was to get all of the Big Bros. They're just so dang cute! I have all of them as well as two of Chief and Tex <3. All of them, except for Slugger, were purchased from Arena members.
Chief was the HARDEST to find! When I would find him in sale lots, he was always one of the first to go. My first Chief took a while to get and I don't remember why. The second one was being sold by someone who was very tentative about letting him go and they wanted a fairly rare G4 as a trade. I think that whole exchange took about a month, but everything worked out. One has a perfect body and faded, frizzy hair. The other has a discolored body and perfect hair.
I think I ended up with two of Tex because I was in the middle of a transaction with someone for him and someone I had messaged a while back got back with me about him. Didn't wanna be rude and say no, so...I got two. ^^'
-
Tracks! I got him new for Christmas one year. Trains were a big thing in our house so it made sense to my parents to get me the lone train related pony. He and Daddy Apple Delight were the only "official" boys in my herd for a very long time.
Tracks would routinely take over some part of Ponyland's infrastructure when no one was looking. Specifically the fisher price circus train. ;)
-
I know I got them all as a kid, but I honestly don't remember which one was first...might've been Tex or Chief or Wigwam. I want to say my dad picked him out, and went with one of the flashier looking boys. I really don't remember, though...
-
Mine was Steamer. I found him in a collectibles shop, loose with no accessories, for $20.
-
... I want to say I wound up with all 6 of the first release at the same time, because of a birthday? I know I had them all (still do, actually), but my older brother was also playing with ponies at the time, so maybe we started with only two? That or he got Steamer at a later time (he was into trains (and still kinda is), so~). If they were separate purchases, then I want to say either Salty, Slugger, or Tex, but I'm not 100% on that, either.
-
Going to have to look that up, as I had none as a youngster (2 Mountain Boys & Dad Apple Delight, though I did see Adventure Boys on sale in the shops, & yep we called them that. Big Brother was what we called the last three), so it would have been more recently...
Looks like the winner is: First Base/ Slugger!!!
