Today I received Tux (or Coats), but I don't know if he's from year seven or eight. Is there a difference between the two, or did they just sell the same pony in both years and only changed his name?
-
Please someone corret me if I'm wrong but I think that Tux is made in Hong Kong and Coats in China.
-
Mine is made in Hong Kong, so he is Tux? There aren't any optical differences then?
-
I would guess yours is Tux. They are the same pony so there are no obvious differences between them but there can be slight differences between the same pony made in Hong Kong and in China.
-
Ok, thanks a lot! I catalogue all my ponies, so I wanted to write down the correct info.
-
There isnt a physical difference :) He just got 2 different names depending on which leaflet he was advertised in - he transitioned names over time essentially :)
-
Good to know, thank you! :)

Chronologically you might expect a chinese one to be made later thiugh it isn't a guarantee.
I agree with Hathorcat though. Same pony, two names.

I've been going through leaflets and found that one US/Canadian one has him as Coat 'n Tails or Fiancé but all the other mentions of him (that I have) call him Tux 'n Tails. So it's possible it was just the Canadian brochures that called him that?
There are two on this page:

Wow, this is very helpful, thank you! It could totally be a country difference, like so many ponies had different names in the US and the UK. I'll call him Tux for now, I reckon the chances that he's Tux are bigger. :)

My impression is that in the US his name transitioned over time (i.e. depending on the year of the brochure), but I'm not positive.
