Hi guys! In the midst of all this global craziness I'm thinking about rehairing a So Soft Buttons I'm deflocking whose mane/tail were both write-offs.
Aside from feeling mildly daunted by this new skill, I'm not sure what to do about buying the hair itself. I want to match the colours as closely as possible (which I believe are atomic turquoise and heartthrob) but I've been reading the unsavoury news about Dollyhair and I don't think I want to purchase through them. I've been through all the Arena guides and recommended sellers and I can't seem to find an online store that carries those two shades/approximate matches of nylon. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Would really appreciate it!

I'm a novice too, but I've used TheDollPlanet on Etsy. I didn't do it perfectly-- my custom (on right) had a lot more hair than a standard pony and it was a lot longer, so there was more room for error. Her hair came out quite handsome, but there are a number of stray hairs from my reckless rooting.

Maybe check them out?

I'll second TheDollPlanet. I feel like I might have a skein of Atomic Turquorise at home and possibly a good close color from a recent TDP order, I'll compare at home.
Depends on the person but I feel like the needle method is easier than using a tool, I never seem to put enough glue.

Thanks for the tips!

Oh thank goodness, because I also decided to throw myself back into customizing and missed ALL the Dollyhair drama until after I had placed my last order and was kinda stunned when I saw this post and then looked into it. Y I K E S.
Skyline good luck! Can't wait to see your first rehair!

I often use Gorilla glue to secure hair. Wet the inside of the head, add glue. It puffs up really cool.

My source (but I'm in Germany) is retrodolls.uk
She has all the matching hair colors that we need. I would suggest to ask Shannon from retrodolls US whether she has the colors you need. The pink is Wonderland and the blue is Topaz (which is more Water Nixie than Atomic Turquoise).
Here's a hair matching guide as well from Skig https://sites.google.com/site/mlphaircolorguide/suppliermatches (https://sites.google.com/site/mlphaircolorguide/suppliermatches) which we'll feed with new matches when we know it.
