Title: I got a Wind Whistler!
Post by: SpacePinto on December 21, 2019, 03:17:09 PM
Looks like this year Christmas came early for me  :newpony:

As I have mentioned before, my absolute number one most desired pony ever was a NSS Wind Whistler in good condition, but the biggest obstacle to that was that most WWs available for sale always seemed to be either 1) so-softs (which I hate), 2) with faded white hair, or 3) both. Luckily, recently half of the problem got solved on its own when it turned out that whenever I searched Wind Whistler with newly listed on top, eBay would always place all non-american items separately further down the list as "International sellers", so I would always see American ponies among the newly added, which by default were all so-softs. So when one day I accidentally scrolled far enough down, it turned out there was actually a lot of European NSS Wind Whistlers available! Sadly, most of them still had white hair, and even if they did have some color left (usually not that much), they were almost always offered as auctioned items, and I would always lose (or they would have some jarring flaw, like symbol damage), or there would be one available right away when I was actually bidding on another one that would have been sold by the time I came back to it etc. (Wind Whistler seems to be pretty popular among buyers) I thought I would never find the right one, until a few weeks ago that is. I was just casually checking out the international section again, and there she was, just put up that day. Her hair still had its original color, both symbols were intact, there were no flaws, she even came with the original brush and butt ribbon! Pretty much the only downside was that her forelock was kind of messy, but that's something I could take care of. Her price was a little high, as in nearly sixty dollars plus shipping, but I was more than willing to pay that much (besides, I remember a similar condition Wind Whistler being sold to the highest bidder for more than 100 pounds some time ago). I knew I had to act fast, though, since I didn't want to let someone sweep her away from under my nose. So I checked my PayPal, it turned out I had just enough to pay the total amount with about three dollars to spare (not that being short would really stop me) and just a few minutes later she wasn't available for sale anymore  She just arrived yesterday, I wasn't home at the time but today I finally had a chance to check her out up close, and there she is:

Sorry for the bad quality, those pictures really don't do justice to her, but I completely suck at photographing, and no matter what angle I took, it would either be too dark or too bright. Anyway, I'm really satisfied with my purchase and don't regret a single cent spent, she's pretty much exactly what I wished for, perfect quality, just as I always wanted, and as an added bonus, her hair smells really lovely, you can tell that she was properly washed before sending. 2019 couldn't possibly end on a better note for me! Plus at least now Fizzy won't be alone in that dark cabinet of hers :P

Yeah, it is really hard to find WW with this much pink left these days!

Wow. She is just stunning. Huge congrats, it's awesome you finally got her after so long!

That's what makes it so special to me, knowing how hard it is to get her in decent condition, and that this time I was the lucky one to get my hands on her before anyone else could thanks to perfect timing and acting fast. There had even been times when I was willing to just surrdender and simply settle for some inferior one with remotely passable hair, but now I'm glad I didn't - like they say, good things come to those who wait

She's beautiful

She sure is ^.^

That's probably why she was so expensive, as from what I've seen most G1 ponies on eBay tend to go for about $10-$20. Still worth it, though :P

That's great! Wind Whistler seems to be many people's favorite ;)

I know, right? Hair fading is such a huge problem with Wind Whistler dolls that each one that's still pink is such pleasure to look at!

I think probably what you paid for was the pristine condition, because as you noticed, she's not a rare pony but she is rare in good condition. The pink fades very easily...some ponies have more easily fading hair than others, no matter how much they're exposed to sunshine, and she seems to be one of them. So it's good she's going to live in a dark place now xD.

I'm glad you finally found one :D

Movie Star WW also has the proper symbol I think. At least I believe the animated one has the bicolour symbol, unlike the SS one which is just pink.

That's why I always keep her hidden and only take her out for a few minutes at a time to play with her or sniff her hair (it smells really nice!) She was well worth those sixty dollars in her condition and I intend to make sure she stays like that for as long as possible.

Yeah, it took me over a year but it was soooo worth it!

I know, I still can't believe how lucky I was! Too bad her mane lost its scent after I styled it with hot water (there's still some left in the tail, though) but I'm planning to use some conditioner to touch it up anyway, so she should soon smell nice again ^.^
