Title: Whitening advice for Cherry Treats?
Post by: cottoncandycafe on June 27, 2019, 10:41:36 AM
Hello! I want to get rid of the discolouration on my Cherry Treats, who is currently a sort of... yellowy beige. I understand that this pony is prone to discolouration because of the chemicals that make her scented, and things that work on other "white" ponies might just make her worse.

I've seen mostly conflicting advice online so far so I'd just like to know if anyone here has succeeded in bleaching their Cherry Treats and/or what whitening treatments to avoid. Thank you!

I had some success in whitening mine by a hydrogen peroxide soak.... wasn’t a ton but still looks better🎉 I have heard that that specific pony is not safe to dungarees though as it will burn.

Where is she made? I am assuming China...

I ask because the majority of ones in the UK are chinese and in the US Hong Kong. Since fading etc depends on the plastic, especially with white ponies, it might be worth checking whether the conflicting advice is conflicting for that reason.

My hk one has more translucent plastic which I would expect to be a problem to fade. I have never seen a discoloured chinese one in person. My childhood one is still white. They tend to have a more opaque white so the rules may be different.

She's Chinese and has a forelock. I actually read your thread about the differences between the China and Hong Kong ones when I was googling advice but it didn't actually occur to me that that might be why there's so much conflicting stuff online, so thank you :)
