Title: Stupid sticky sticker goo! How to remove?
Post by: Lady Frostbite on April 01, 2019, 04:22:33 PM
I'm removing stickers from various things, and they peel off in chunks and leave behind horrible glue! Any tips on removing it? Hairdryer is NOT AN OPTION, and I've tried acetone on two items and it didn't work

I've used WD-40 with great results, but always test it on the surface first to ensure it won't damage the material under the adhesive. :)

This will sound weird. Valve oil. It's a tiny bottle found in music stores. Its loosens stuck valves. On band instruments. I gets stickers off all the time with it.

Try Avon Skin So Soft or Goo Gone, but only on non-porous surfaces.

I know we've used just plain hand lotion to remove the sticky film from windows - it worked! I feel like I've also used dish soap (cuts through grease!). :)

Rubber Cement.  It's what I use at the library to remove old labels from paper DVD covers.  You put some wet rubber cement on the sticky area and then use a chunk of the dried rubber cement to rub it off (a small chunk can be created by putting wet rubber cement on a flat surface and rubbing it up with your finger into a ball as it dries).  The rubber cement will dry and attach itself and the sticky stuff to the already dried chunk of rubber cement.  I've had success removing sticky stuff from paper, plastic, and wood items this way.

Eucalyptus oil works a treat on plastic, glass or metal products.

Oooo all great suggestions! How do you use them? Dab the substance on with a cloth, wait, then wipe off?

I tried dish soap and nail police remove to get it off plates, but it wouldn't budge! I haven't tried either on my locker, for obvious reasons yet  :P
