Next Wednesday I'm going to go look at some old toys for sale, but I have no idea what will be there. The people are wealthy, so I'm hoping to hit the jackpot!
In highschool, I attended a private school, but only because my mom worked there. We didn't have a lot of money. The school nurse, she is wealthy. She didn't need the job, it was just something for her to do. I forget why, but she and her husband were raising their two grandkids. A girl one year younger than myself, and a boy several years younger.
Well, they are cleaning out some stuff in storage. My mom, for Christmas, has bought me a curio cabinet from the nurse to help display my breyer and transformer collection with less dust accumulation. She told the nurse about my collections.
I've been invited to come look at what her grandson has leftover from his childhood to see if I want anything. However, I'm more interested in finding out if the granddaughter was into ponies!!! She was one year younger than me, so we were both kids in prime G1 pony production.
However, if ask about this, I will expose myself while my mom is there. My pony collection is a secret(cause I'm a dude and therefore can't enjoy colorful toy horses perceived as girl's toys). But you know what, I think I'm ready to risk it.
But knowing my luck, I won't find anything. But here's hoping I find Sweet Scoops, Rapunzel, the Birthday babies, kitty mom and baby, and tons more! Rich folk raised in mansions should have all the mail orders, right!?
Just kidding! I'll update you guys next week.

Oooh I love threads like this ^_^ I hope you find something cool there!

Ohhh this is exciting! I’m crossing my fingers you find something good out there! Good luck pony/ other toy collections hunting!

You can have my share of luck! I hope you find something good!

Ohhhh, a mystery! So fun...here's hoping you hit the pony pot o' gold!
-
You could lie and say you know a friend who was looking for ponies...
but I think it's better to be honest with your mom. There's nothing wrong with collecting ponies...

Oooooh, exciting! :D I hope you hit the jackpot! :frolic:

Rich folk raised in mansions are also spoiled which means they are bored quickly, so the mail orders should also be in pristine condition! :P Kidding too of course, but wouldn't that be great? :silly:

Best of luck! It's sad you have to hide your collection though.

Poo! I was very disappointed! Beautiful, giant house, but slim pickens when it came to toys. No transformers, no breyers, a handful of ponies. Just a small amount of junk toys.
There were eight ponies. Starshine bad symbol. Baby Surprise rusty tail. Nice Windy. Ok Firefly. Filthy baby Ember. A sweetheart sister missing her earring (fancy Flower?). Summer Wing High Flyer. And a Cotton Candy. There was a stamper missing its pad, and two petites.
I figured I could get High Flyer and use her in a trade. I don't collect the Sisters, so I don't know her desirability, if I could use her in trades/sales. Oh well, got my hopes up for nothing.

Darn! Well, least there was something there, so not a total loss. We all have hood hunting days and bad ones.

I always hype myself up when I go to antique stores that sell toys, but it's always boy-toy stuff. Hopefully pony luck will shine brighter elsewhere!
-
Ah bummer! I hope you'll have better luck next time. :(

Some ponies are better than none. ;)

Oh well, got my hopes up for nothing.
Better to get your hopes up for nothing than to show up and either have not enough money, or to find that little girls scribbled on the mail order ponies with Sharpie ;)

Ah, too bad there wasn't anything too exciting!
But yeah, like LBS said, I guess it's better to find a few common ponies than MOs in a well-loved condition! ^^'
