Title: PC - G1 baby Candy - has issues
Post by: mimicsno1fan on August 20, 2018, 03:03:43 AM
Hello everyone!

I want to sell a spare Baby Candy that I have but im unsure how to price her due to an unusual bit of damage to her.

Now i havent put her through the pony spa yet but on foirst glance her eyes, symbols and mane all seem to be in great condition.

She has 2 main flaws - a cut tail and a large piece of plastic gouged out of her buttocks!

I have added photos so you see what i mean.

Now the gouge does go over a small fraction of one of her back symbols. When on display you cant really see it but without a bit of restoration it is a massive flaw for a pony to have.

What are people's thoughts on pricing?

Thanks in advance!

She looks like she sat on a cheese grater o.o.

<--unhelpful post.

But funny!

Oh dear, I really wonder what happened to that pony? I feel that that is a fair price as a talented restorer can fix it: luckily the damage is mainly over a plain white area and in a less conspicuous place. I'm not sure if anyone disagrees?

I think 30 Pounds sounds about right!

I wonder what happened to her...it almost looks like a marshmallow that's had a bite taken oout of it, lol.

I don't know how to help accept that when pricing remember to weigh in shipping. Sometimes I've seen items start off as fair priced but then the shipping is something totally crazy. However, and I'm not an expert at ponies not released in America so sorry, 30 pounds sounds to be in the right area. ^^

Hrm. Speaking as someone well used to paying over the odds for shipping because of buying ponies often from overseas, shipping is just a nasty fact of life wherever you live. The cost of the item is the same regardless. It's the buyer's responsibility to pay for the item price plus shipping. The value of the item is completely separate from whatever shipping rates apply.

So basically, if we go with a value of £30 for the item...

Just off the top of my head, to ship Baby Candy to the US with tracking it's going to cost probably another £10 on top of the £30, which would make her, say £40 total cost. But to ship her within the UK with tracking and first class it would cost £4.45, making a total of £34.45. In both cases, though, the pony's start price won't change.

If any of that makes sense, you get a cookie ;) What I'm trying to say is that the cost of the postage is nothing to do with the appropriate value of the pony. And I would personally agree that £30 sounds about right to me - although I am struggling with pony prices in £ at the moment because the exchange rate is so horrific.

According to Google, £30 is $39ish at the moment. That seems really low, although in real terms for the OP £30 is still £30 so it's probably a good time to be selling to the US.

Thanks for all the help guys :)

Well if anyone is interested she will be £34 shipped in the UK with tracking and £40 shipped worldwide with tracking.

I will try to list her on ebay tonight

Best wishes

Just a quick reply -- I just wanted to add that part since some people (at least on eBay at least) somehow manage to make the shipping up the wall. For example, one time there was this item that was fairly close to me (a couple states away) and the price was around the $15 which was pretty nice for the item, but the shipping was around $30. I don't exactly know how they did it and eBay had my address at the time so it wasn't like they didn't know. Maybe it's just a weird eBay glitch or something? I have no idea.

But overall, yeah as long as the person doesn't purposely drive up the shipping rate then it's not something to worry about. *shrugs* Just go with whatever you see fit for the pony ^^

Oh, there are always people who overcharge on shipping. Believe me, the number of tiny pony items with shipping charges on ebay of $50 because people want to send it priority and then jack it up to the max weight level (when it could be shipped priority at $35)...but that's a whole other topic of rant xD.

My point was that the OP wasn't asking for a value with shipping included, so the shipping is entirely separate from the pony value. And jacking up the price of shipping is absolutely not cool - but the OP clearly isn't doing that :)
