Title: Honest Pony Names - THE best game to play with non-pony people

So my wife was asking me questions about ponies the other day - the usual questions like who is most expensive, which ones do you need to get next etc. I was showing her pictures and explaining why they were so expensive, mostly to justify me spending more of our hard-earned money on them...but anyway...

...This led to the discovery of the most amazing game to play with non pony people. It's called Honest Pony NamesTM

You basically show a non-collector photos of ponies, and they name the pony. The results are hilarious, and sometimes very sweet. I will never be able to look at some of these ponies in the same way again XD.

I use to do this when I still lived with my mum. Every time a new pony arrived I would ask her what she thought it's name was. As a result she can immediately identify G3 Minty and Pinkie Pie.

Aaaa I need to try this with my hubby, haha xD sadly, he HAS been listening to me ramble over the years so he knows quite a few pony names... xD

Oh I must try to play this game with some of my non pony friends. I hope yum yum has gotten back on the right path, out of prison. Any of you clothes makers out there want to make a yum yum sized pony jumpsuit?
I like scary eyes. Until I knew what the twinkle eye ponies were, they kinda startled me.

I love to play this with my coworkers. One of them can name at least 10 ponies because I ramble on about them so much. If she's on tonight, I'll give her a quiz.

Hahaha this made my day! So many great names. I love Bunting and Beauty and the Beast pony. And the funny ones like forest gump and prison pony lol ... Thanks for sharing!

Ooh now that I think about it, I have one!

my dad saw my G4 Applejack and called her Butternut. I asked why and he said "because she looks like a Butternut*" (*Butternut squash)

I have a G4 Twilight bank we're using for piggybank stuff. My grandparents keep saying to "Put the change you found inside the donkey." whenever they talk about it.
So aparently twilight = donkey.

This thread is gold!

My mom's always been pretty attentive and she picked up on their names quickly, so I sadly don't have any of those stories to share just yet. But I wanna add on the subject of relatives making gentle fun of MLP, my stepdad knows just barely the first part of the original G1 MLP theme song and he sings it in a really high-pitched voice whenever he sees a pony or whenever I mention one. It's kind of adorable.

My mum calls my ponies "dinosaurs" for some reason (I have mostly G4s so it's fair I guess..they don't really look like horses :P)

Am giving my mostly non MLP friend, she has a Dr Whooves Funko and several of the minis.  A 2008 Minty I found while thrifting. Will report back as to what she calls her.

We've got a few courtesy of Hubby -

Nice n spicey is Nigella (after a TV cook)
Posey is Ginger (I think after ginger rogers - who knows?)
His Rosedust is called Daffodil.

But the name that's really stuck and I can't think of the poor pony as anything else now - is a formerly beat-up Daddy Bright Bouquet who has had a rehair and a bandana to hide a scar on his neck  - he's now Daddy Mid-life Crisis

My Dad renamed Cherry Treats when I was a kid. She became "Stink Bomb" literally seconds after being opened from her package in the car driving home from the mall. And it kind of stuck...

Twinkle Twirl is "Starburst," TAF Yum Yum is "Sugar Crash," and Whirly Twirl is "Whirly Head" to name a few more.

Fizzy = Cotton Candy
Angel = Blue Horizon
Baby Paws = Big Jim
Apple Delight Family = David (Dad), Apple Cherry (Mom), Sunshine Apple (Baby)
Rapunzel = Princess Doozy
Gusty = Little Maple
SSN Pink Dreams = Hairless Rat (lol)

Nightmare Moon, Muffin Pony, and Applejack are the only names that my mom and dad know.  :silly: To be fair, I have a lot and they all start to blend together after a while...

Okay funny story that's kinda sorta related...Speedy was like one of my top three favorite ponies when I was little, I loved skating so much. I used to strap an extra pair of rollerblades to my hands and pretend to be her, skating on hands and feet. But uh...then I slammed head-first into the garage door and nearly gave myself a concussion :p Either way it was fun, I love Speedy.
