Title: What happened to my Goody Gumdrops?

I got her off of ebay with a bunch of other baits one time, and her condition intrigued me. She's supposed to be white, but she's purple and pink instead? I assume someone tried to boil her to dye her body, but....What do you think? The camera makes the red spots look like rust stains, but I assure you, they're more red/pinkish in person.

White plastic usually doesn't age well. Could have been dye transfer, regrind, sun discoloration, or like you said, a failed customization attempt.

Yeah the white G3s, some have this odd patchiness to their vinyl right out of the box.  It's  regrind, I am pretty sure.  Especially if someone tried to customize or dye her, and it didn't take very well... BUT they also get sunburnt pretty bad.  I've seen a Sunny Daze look like a bronzed Malibu Barbie....

I seriously want to see that.

I’m now really glad that I was never a “leave my toys outside in the sandbox” kind of kid. >_<

Actually, now I'm curious. I wanna see, too!

It's the hard-vinyl much like G1 has issues with, too .  In G3, there is soft white vinyl, there is pearly soft white, and there is matte white hard-as-a-rock.

It's also possible that she spent time in a bait box with a couple of dyed bait ponies, and the dye transferred over to her.

The fact that she has no hair suggests to me that she was a customising attempt.  I would guess that she had brown plasticizer leaks and in an attempt to save her, someone tried to dye her to cover it.  It could have been the same owner or someone found her second hand and used her as a bait before passing her own when the dye job failed.

Is it just me or do the patches on her body and head kind of line up, like they were deliberate and not just age or botched custom work... Like staining from paint that was removed, or faded pen marks? *Shrug* :)

Looks that way to me, as well. The splotches (The really red marks that look like rust stains) look a bit like thumb prints.
I do also kind of agree that I think the purple parts might also be regrind. I juat had no idea that could happen in G3 ponies yet.
