The other day I was curious about the moulds the baby HQG1Cs were made from, and if I'm not mistaken, they are Newborn ponies. This left me curious about the differences between Newborns and the earliest babies released (you know, Baby Ember and baby versions of previously released ponies, although I can't recall if there are more)
Of course, pics are always appreciated

The main difference is size. Although their heads are similar in seize, the bodies of the newborns are about half as long. Their legs are also more chunky (think baby fat) compared to the normal babies. They are about the same height.
I've also found that their hooves are different shapes. The newborns have more square-shaped hooves and the babies have more semi-circle (at least in these two poses).
And here's a little pic:

With the exception of the newest one, the newborns from HQG1C are not really representative of general newborn poses. They're all made from Baby Bouncy's pose, a pose which only she uses and which was made by Hasbro international in 1993-4 at the very end of the line. The proportions seem a little different on her to the others...less chunky somehow than most of them.

I always get the perception that baby ponies are like toddlers, while the newborns are as their name imply, "freshly made" babies. Teeny Tinies are newborns that are born too tiny.

It's funny cuz in the cartoon, baby/first tooth ponies babysat the newborn twins. They had to have been at least 4 by the way they talked, and at least 12 to babysit at all.

the main difference is that Gabumon is chronically addicted to newborn twins but babies, not so much... XD
