Title: What's the WORST condition you've ever found a pony in?
Post by: Safflower on April 14, 2018, 03:53:25 PM
So, what's the worst condition you've ever found a pony in? Did they have no hair or were they filled with rust and mold? Did they stink to high heavens or were they horrendously stained and scribbled on?

For me, it was a Medley with tail and mane cuts, symbol rubs, a bit a scribbles, and major rust.

What about you? :D

A flocked pony covered in Cat Pee that was in Mint condition and nothing I tried fixed my pony and all her flocking fell off.  Thus, Cat Pee Pony was born.  Mind you the seller told me they had cats but that the pony did not leave her house like that.  Funny though the mailer didn't stink on the outside.

I was about to reply to this with colorfaded from sun, foggy eyes, and brown spots all over then I realize I was describing one of my Furby LOL.  Ponywise, probably a super browned Barnacle with the bottom of his foot chewed off. and other chew marks   I actually finally got around to customizing him last monthish.  Didn't go well since he was my first custom, but still much better than before!

here's the only before I have though ( the darkest one in the middle ) he looks much nicer in the photo than he did irl

Hmm, I got a lot of ponies that my friend rescued from a preschool. They all have awful, dry hair from being bleached, rust inside and lots of age spots. They're in rough shape and I've been slowly working on restoring them. I think the worst ones are Quarterback, Sundance and Flutterbye.

I don't have a photo handy, but I recently got a FF Cotton Candy. I was excited to have her. I was cleaning her up with a soapy sponge and Magic Eraser, wearing gloves, and noticed that the Eraser was all pink, and there was some pink colour coming off of Cotton Candy, but she didn't look abnormal. I was very puzzled, and so finished cleaning her up and went online to try to find out what was happening. I read about plasticiser leakage, and how ponies with this process happening can feel sticky. Well, she felt sticky. She also has some brown/grey age spots that are large blotchy. So, I've never dealt with this before, and she is now quarantined until I figure out what to do with her. I guess this might be relatively tame, but I think this is the worst I've found thus far, in addition to the Peppermint Crunch I described in the other thread about her (http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,391136.msg1709114.html#msg1709114).

My Sweet Tooth takes the cake for this one. She looked fine on the outside except for some tail rust and a receding hairline. Then I opened her up. I thought it was mold inside of her, but then on closer inspection I noticed bits of dead grass as well. The poor thing had dirt inside of her! She cleaned up beautifully, though, and I'm happy to have her in my herd.

I don't remember exactly where I got her, but at one point I had a discolored Gingerbread riddled with age spots PLUS when I say 'discolored' I mean completely brown.  Not only was her pink streak faded out, but ALL her hair was faded and the texture was just nasty and awful.  I washed and conditioned it many times trying to improve it, but there was no way.  Her body was also permanently greasy (maybe from plasticizer leaching out).  I washed her and washed her, but she was just gross to touch.

I finally sold her on eBay in a small lot with other 'bait' ponies.  I hope she at least made a good custom bait for someone.

To be honest she kind of put me off Gingerbread as a pony, even though I know she looks amazing when she's in good condition.

I have to admit that my original Starshine is a bit disgusting. She wasn't perfect when we found her at the carboot sale but she is progressively browner as time goes on. My Sea Mist is also...yeah. Those ponies are so easily doomed :'(

I have a tendency to "rescue" very damaged ponies, and try to restore them or at least dress them up so that their flaws don't show. Thus my collection is home to:

- G3 Meadowbrook who had no back legs (I sculpted new ones out of Milliput).
- Headless Princess Amethyst.
- Baby Dibbles with no eyes, faded hair and no symbols.
- Sweet Notes with only one ear and a chewed face.
- Greek Baby Bluebelle who had been cut in half. This actually put a usually expensive pony in my price range, and gluing her back together was pretty simple, so I am especially pleased with her.
- Majesty with holes in her feet, chewed ears and half her horn missing - I think she fell into the clutches of a dog.

I don't have pictures on my phone of most of them, but here's how I managed to make Majesty look presentable:

Mine's pretty mild compared to most of these stories but I found a G1 Moondancer at a garage sale for $.25 or $50. She had really worn symbols and some pink marks on her body but I didn't mind too much as I didn't have a Moondancer at the time. I brought her home and put her on a table. A little while later I noticed a wet spot near Moondancer. It turned out she was full of water and it was leaking out through her tail hole.

I bought a large lot of ponies which included the saddest looking baby pony I've ever seen. Baby Blossom's hairline was completely split down each row so her hair was hanging out loose but still glued together in rows. Her whole skull was open. I had to do some extensive fimo moulding to connect her head back together then managed to rehair her but she can only ever wear her hair in stratigically placed pigtails to cover the clay. I eventually upgraded to a better one but haven't managed to find anyone willing to adopt her. I think I may move her to my desk so she can be appreciated for overcoming her traumatic former life.

I bought two glitter baby pones who were so full of rust they looked brown, two hours of scrubbing later they look brand new.

Worst was a pinkie pie who smelled of pee, I use enzyme cleaner on her, she is much better.

Sadly, neither of us have the skills to do stuff like that. So she's still in her rather creepy state. My sister has a whole box of rescues but she's probably the worst. I think she's missing part of a foot as well.

My worst one would probably be the last Bow Tie I got. She has really bad pony cancer, ingrained dirt, discolouration, and mane and tail rust.

She's completely discoloured from blue to an off-white-grey-blue colour, its hideous. Her mane and tail are a dirty pale pink and are completely orange from rust at the roots. Her legs are covered in ingrained dirt and she has pony cancer under her stomach, between her legs and up her neck.

I bought her in a bundle of 12 ponies. I only payed £5 for all of them, but shes the only one in this condition. All the others she came with are near mint. It makes me wonder what happened to her, haha!

(I would attach a photo but I still haven't figured out how -.-)

Poor Bow Tie! I can't imagine what could have happened to her; it sounds like she may as well have been left in a ditch somewhere or something.

The hardest one with the most extensive damage was Princess Pristina. I found her at a thrift shop and her hair has been completely cut off, mane and tail, and she was COVERED in glitter glue. It took a lot of elbow grease but I managed to get the thick layer of glitter glue off of here entirely and she also became my first rehair!
The grossest one was Peachy. I was, again, at a thrift shop and saw a "Snuzzle" on one of the shelves and was like "Score!" and snatched her up aND OMG MY FINGERS JUST SANK INTO HER. It was NOT Snuzzle. It was a Peachy that was just coated in some sort of mold slime. It was disgusting, but I bought her anyways (I just carried her by the hair after that) and cleaned her up. I kept her quarantined for a while to make sure the mold wasn't going to make a reappearance, but she turned out fine and she's still in my collection today.

I think I once got a bunch of ponies with gunk on them. They cleaned up well but one particular was never the same color. I forgot which or even if I kept them. I also once got a lot of ponies with all their heads glued on with superglue. :/

I had that happen with a Glittering Gem head. I have to admit that I used it for rehairing >.>.

Oh gosh! How to choose... I had Cherries who was rather chomped up. She was missing an ear and had been munched and crunched on her nose and rump.
Like so:

And Munchy, who was covered in cat pee, had frizzed cut hair, and was covered in brown slimy stuff inside.

They're both fine now. Munchy is completely restored and Cherries became my first custom.

Yes indeed: cat pee. It WAS a surprise when I opened the package. Which is why there is a photo of the head on the floor. I wasn't touching that any more than necessary.

Still not sure what was going on with this pony, but I got a Blossom in THIS condition in a bait lot once.

It wasn't washable, so the best thing I could do was complately paint over her. I think she's probably happy she can at least SEE again.

I am so baffled by that. Yeah, I wouldn't touch it any more than necessary either, were I to receive a pony in that state. Wow.

@mewthemew : It looks like a custom project gone wrong, my goodness!

I think once I was scrolling through eBay and found a 2nd wave Seapony that looked almost perfect. I clicked to look at it and her one side was okay...then I saw her other side which was completely brown and sunken in from mold I believe. If I'm remembering right I also once saw I think an Applejack who looked like she had been thrown in an actual ditch and left there to sit for weeks.

The worst state of a pony that I ever owned would either have to be my first pony (glitter symbol fading, dirt in hair, bite marks) or my Bridal Beauty with tail rust. I'm very picky with the ponies I purchase.  ^^;

EDIT: I COMPLETELY FORGOT TWO VERY SPECIAL PONIES.
The first one was the first G1 pony I ever got, Baby Shaggy, who was coated in this brown markings. It looks like it's only dirt so I hope to fix her up once I find her again.
The second pony...oh boy.
The second pony came from this girl I knew at school. Her family weren't the...cleanliest people on the planet and I guess her mother made money by buying stuff at thrift shops and selling them on eBay. My friend once gave me this Princess Royal Blue and...oh my. First off she reeked of some kind of combination of sweat and diapers and second off she was covered in brown splotches. Along with that I believe her symbol's metalic paint was wearing off. I took the pony, not wanting to be rude, and set her on my shelf and then never touched her again. I have no idea where she is now but I'd love to fix her up if I had the chance...

My brother once brought me home a pony that he found while climbing up onto a park shelter's roof.

It was Medley without a head. Thus, my alias ever since then has been "headlesspony" (except for this forum) I still played with her without a head but I ended up losing her somehow along the road.

I haven't had too many really bad ones, just a few really dirty ones in lots. One bowtie who'd been 'customized'  with white-out. I cleaned her up more to find out who she was more than anything really! My friend once found a Ringlet in the dirt. She was always a sort of more brownish yellow in places, but her hair came up perfectly fine!
