Title: New Soarin brushable - ball-jointed wings!
Post by: CupidStrikes on April 06, 2018, 03:37:36 PM
Apologies if this is old news - I can't find a similar thread so forgive me if this has been posted before

So Tesco had the new Storytime brushables in today (Soarin, Bonbon, AppleJack, Rarity and Twilight, I think was the wave, I don't remember seeing any other ponies), and they were £3.75 so I sprung for Soarin because I lovelovelove that boy pegasus mold!

I got him home and opened him up and...ohmygoshohmygoshohmyGOSH

What's this cheeky boy?

He's ball-jointed! The wings have really good articulation meaning you have more than just the standard pose!

He's so gorgeous! I didn't check the others to see if they have anything similar, or if they're just solid like Twilight is. Wave B seems to be BigMac, DJ Pon-3, Starlight Glimmer, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy (going by the leaflet included), but  it's hard to tell if Rainbow or Fluttershy have articulated wings

Bonus:  BigMac in the leaflet has long hair!

I've been seeing the All About ponies for a couple months I think, but didn't know about the wings. I got Applejack and keep seeing Soarin, maybe I'll finally pick him up if he's still at TRU when sales get better. I like white-ish and boy ponies.

Congratulations!

Yeah he and Songbird have moveable wings. They pop out pretty easy though. At least mine does.

Yes, I have Fluttershy, Dash, Songbird and Twilight with the jointed wings.  I would have to double check my other princesses to see if they have the jointed wings but I'm pretty sure all the pegasi that are in the all about series have the jointed wings.

I saw Soarin here at Walmart, however, every single version of him seemed to have some kind of weird yellow stain on him.  I was going to wait for a version with just a normal cutie mark, but I'm not sure if they are going to just make a regular version or not...

This is my favorite thing about the new brushables! I was excited too when I opened my Soarin and Songbird. So many posing possibilities

All the All About ponies who have wings (the Pegasi + Twilight) have these poseable wings! I'm a bit mixed on my feelings on them, personally. I like that you can pose them, but I can easily imagine kids losing the wings to All About pegasi and there being a lot of wingless ones around down the road. They do pop off a bit too easily.

Tesco are discounting this set? Hrm. Interesting. I might have to see if they still are doing this when I am back in London, as I have Soarin MOC but wouldn't mind a loose one too.

I am still looking for Big Mac but I've only seen the Soarin wave here :/

The side without the storyboard has his cutie mark. I imagine you could acetone off the storyboard print or just use that as the non-display side (which is what I'm doing). Sucks about the stains, though :(

I love his wings ^__^ I hadn't noticed the long-haired Big Mac on the leaflet. I wish they'd released him like this :( At least he doesn't have troll hair like poor Shining Armour, I guess.

I just figured this set was going to be this generation's flutter ponies.

At least the wings themselves won't snap like the flutter wings did. It should be much easier to find the wings separately in the future.

You're right to imagine this. I found a detached Soarin wing in a Walmart parking lot a couple of weeks ago.

I have rainbow dash and flutter shy and their wings fall off all of the time. They aren’t very poseable because whenever I try to pose them they fall off.

Very true, won't be quite as bad as the Flutters, but it'll still be an issue for sure.

Last month I went to a flea market and found the All About Rainbow Dash, already missing her wings. I was going to but her until I noticed that. This has fueled my desire to find all the pegasi with posable wings just so I don't to resort to buying used ones missing their wings.

Yeah, I was thinking out just removing it also, but at the same time I don't want to mess with him. Luckily, the stain issue just seemed to be a problem at my local store.

Picked one of these up the other day and he's so cool in person!  So glad I saw this board otherwise I would've looked right over him over and over...

Now I just have to figure out how to get his neck plug out so I can make him into a pretty pink haired pegasus lol
