How's that I've never heard of this?

I LOVE MLP Live. How ambitious was it to have a full touring stage show??
-
How on earth do they do that? They must wear those suits hunch-backed, no way they can fit in there standing straight.

Nobody in the back legs, they just are heavy and dangle. So a short dancer/performer is inside the whole suit, their legs in the front legs. And their head is probably fairly squashed against the top of the suit.... probably somewhere in the mane area. They definitely cannot see in front of them! There are probably tape marks on the floor so they know where NOT to fall off the stage!
Also they clearly have the puppet mechanisms inside the head to blink the eyes... if they can see anything, it's either through the nostrils or the mouth opening, and there's not much to see through a mesh screen, LOL
The performers for the ladybugs and Spike got off easily, those aren't terribly uncomfortable costumes. The ponies, though... yeah that kind of repetitive weight on your neck can cause long-term pain issues...

Nah, just use short people! If you were 4'11 or just 5' maybe it wouldn't be so hard. I'm short, so things where people have to duck I can just walk under.

I remember this xD Still weirds me out.

Haha! I love that show! I feel like 5 year old me would’ve loved it too! Was it only in the USA? I wouldn’t like to be in one of those costumes though, they must be heavy and I’d imagine you’d get pretty hot after a while in it!

From what I could see (from photos later and watching the DVD), there was a see-through mesh at the top of the head, which was partly disguised by the streamers used for the hair, so hopefully they had a pretty good view of the stage... albeit without a lot of ability to see directly in front of them, since the muzzle/head probably blocked the space directly beneath them!
I wish they could bring this show back with the resurgence of popularity in the G4 line, I thought it was a really cute show!!

I went to this with my niece. It was a lot of fun!

This came to Minneapolis, and the only possible thing that could have prevented me from going was happening that weekend... my own wedding. I was still trying to figure out a way up until the day of it!
My guess is that there are shoulder brackets in there, so the weight is not resting on their heads.

That's from The World's Biggest Tea Party live show from around 2007ish. There's dialogue in there too. It's WAY better than the 3rd party FiM live show from later on. They really captured the characters' personas and were clever as a whole. They didn't even stick with the songs kids know. They tweaked the lyrics further.
