I've never bought paints to customize and restore before but I have a bait lot I plan to do some of each too depending on who's baitier what paints are good to use on ponies? I need a glittery one too to restore fireflies cutiemark

Okay so gloss glaze to seal? Micro or ultafine glitter. That seems to be what I'm getting from that it's a ton of info and most goes over my head being very new to this
But I couldn't find there what kinds of paint are ok on ponies (non damaging but won't come off) and how long they have to dry before joining the herd (to not spread paint)

Acrylic paints are a popular choice. Make sure you water down the paints by dipping your brush in some water before you paint on to make each coat as seamless as possible. You will have to do multiple light coats and make sure you let each coat dry completely before continuing.
Seal your paint with varnish once it's done and let them dry until they are no longer tacky. The varnish will ensure that the paint does not chip off, and I find plain acrylic very unpleasant to touch, so the coat helps.

The glitter I used was a very fine PTE nail glitter which is pretty easy to come by on ebay. They do two lots of colours which contain several hasbro matches or near matches, as well as two other sets that don't match hasbro ponies but are amazing for customs; iridescent and fluorescent colours. I know there's one in there that matches Firefly as I've done a restoration on a Firefly's symbols :P
I used a matt sealant as a 'glue' and sprinkled the glitter on. If I recal correctly I did two 'layers'. No sealant over the top, it sticks well and I imagine sealant over the top would ruin the effect.

It's very close to hasbro glitter, perhaps ever so slightly less fine but there's not a lot in it. The mid-blue colour should Firefly's colour.
You paint the shape of the symbol first with the sealant then sprinkle glitter. Then whilst still wet use a small cocktail stick to 'shape' the symbol as it won't be perfect, scraping away bits that are wrong carefully until you've got a nice defined shape. It's a little tricky/tedious but you'll get used to it :biggrin:
