Title: Italian Blue Belle- Is she rehaired?
Post by: poniesthatsparkle on December 25, 2017, 02:05:03 PM
For Christmas, I was fortunate enough to get my first Italian Pony! However, her hair is so shiny and sleek that I'm suspicious that the hair is not original. To make matters more confusing, her forelock has been trimmed very short and she has rust coming out of her tail.

Well, I'm not sure it's the usual clamp, but why would the collector choose an iron one ? Collectors tend to avoid rust at all cost.  I'm confused. There's also that string.. If it was a rehair, I don't think it would be here. I tend to think it's not a rehair. But listen to the professionals.
Do you see any markings/carvings under her hooves that could hint us she's been rehaired ?

Oh those are Italian clamps for you...

Nirvana ponies don't have the same standards as far as their internal parts go.  Some of them even have tails tied in with STRING!!!  ;)

Same thing with the hair, it's often not the same quality at all.

Yep! Nirvana clamps and hair quality vary so much.

My Italian Applejack has the shiniest hair! I thought she was rehaired at first too but nope. That's just the way some are :)

No, there's nothing on her to indicate she's been modified in any way.

That must be my Italy Moonstone! XD Everytime I comb her hair, a whole hank comes out. :lookround:

She’s not rehaired :)

Italy tail clamps are shaped like that and the string is normal too ;) in fact tail clamps are a bit different depending on which country the pony was made in :)

I agree with pkw. Not rehaired and normal clasp for a Italian :)

Thanks for the help, everyone! I really appreciate it!

As for hair quality, would hair from Dollyhair be a good match? I really want to fix her badly trimmed mane and I'm not even sure which hair color I need since I don't have a regular Hong Kong Blue Belle to compare her to.

This is tricky, because nirvana hair is unique to each country in both colour and texture. You will only get a close match using DollyHair Nylon :(

Do you have any other pictures of her? From what I can see she doesn't looked like her mane is cut. She may not have a trim as Italy ponies have very "choppy" manes and tails :) it was how they were made :) You don't want to rehair her if you don't need to ;)

There are LOTS of pictures of Italy ponies in the nirvana gallery :)

The front half of her mane is cut to half of its original length and it just sticks straight up. I'll get a picture when I get home.
