Title: Is it even worth it trying to sell this playset?
Post by: LadyMoondancer on December 24, 2017, 03:30:14 PM
I've been trying to clear space for more ponies by . . . selling ponies.  :P  And one of the things I want to clear out is the Blooming Blossoms Shop from G3.  But I just weighed it + accessories in a box that fits it pretty much exactly and its weight--without any padding yet--is 3 pounds 9 ounces!

I did some experimenting with the USPS's postal calculator and it would cost $19 to ship it (by the cheapest method) to Texas.  (I am in Washington state . . . I chose Texas because it's about halfway across the country.)   Has anyone had experience selling G3 playsets?  Is there a market for them?  I'm wondering if I should try Craigslist instead, or donate it to Goodwill.

I think Craigslist is your best option. Playsets don't sell quite too well if they are correctly priced because of the shipping, so it would have to be pretty cheap if you wanted it to sell.

I wish intl shipping wasnt a killer ;_; I'd have snatched it instantly, but $19 within the same country... I mean I live all the way over in europe xD I really hate how shipping prices keep going up up up x(
But I think as well that perhaps craigslist is your best option. doesn't hurt listing it here on the arena, too, ofc. sadly I suppose you have to under-charge for playsets to even get them sold with the hefty shipping :/

I want that play set, it is one of the last ones I need for gen 3 I would be more than happy to pay for shipping to NY state.

Seriously, I love that playset. I have one and my two older daughters played with it all the time. We had a really good time when they were the age to use it. Now it's part of the collection and just looks good sitting in the front. Is that shipping price the absolute lowest for ground shipping? I thought the post offered some really low shipping prices on the slow shipping times. That's crazy high at 19 bucks!

Yikes! Shipping can really stink sometimes! For such a beautiful set maybe you'd find someone willing to pay that? Especially if you're willing to sell it for cheaper. Or I'd try local.

I think it would sell on eBay eventually, but it would sit a while, and you will probably not get what you wanted out of it.  Also, for packages over 1-2lbs you should check out FedEx SmartPost (usually cheaper then USPS in that that weight category).

I can't visualize this playset to get an idea of dimensions, but make sure to check the USPS flat rate boxes and envelopes that are available online at USPS.com.  There are more sizes available there then at the local post office, and familiarize yourself with Regional Box B.  Depending on where you buyer is located that box can save you a good chunk.

Wow that it is such a cute playset!

But yeah, packing up a huge brittle playset- in addition to the cost of shipping, just no fun!

I'm in a similar predicament, worse really... I have a Strawberry Shortcake Berry Happy Home. It is freaking enormous. It weighs more than 10 lbs and is very brittle. There is no way it would survive shipping...

I have the same 'issue'. I've got it as well and was thinking of selling, but the shipping...... :(
